  1. I have several rods of each. Being an older guy (55) I like the traditional looks of full cork but that being said it really doesn't matter. I do not notice any difference when fishing.
  2. I stopped by SC last week and bought a B Stock Legend X 6'8" MXF spinning rod. I was looking for another good "all purpose" rod. Does anyone else use this rod and if so have you been happy with it?
  3. I'm with #Jig Man. I've used the original p-line for probably 20 years. It's my favorite mono.
  4. Made in Rockford, IL where I live.
  5. I had this same problem so I took it back and bought a Shimano.
  6. I have too many SC rods (just ask my wife). All the way from Mojo Bass to Legend Elite's and Legend Xtreme's and IMO the best bang for the buck is the Avid/Avid X series. Yes the more expensive rods are more sensitive but the point of diminishing returns starts to kick in again IMO after the Avid series.
  7. On the other end of this discussion I bought a Shimano Stradic 2000 FG in 2000 I believe. I have fished with it every year and not a single hickup. So I look at like this. Yes it was a little pricey in the beginning but it's last almost 20 years and it's still going strong.
  8. I'm a Chemistry/Biology guy and was in college in the late '80's. We had Far Side cartoons posted all over the lab!!
  9. You didn't mention the SC Mojo Bass but I have one and have been very pleased with it. I wouldn't think it would be too much more than the Bass X.
  10. .30-30 is good too. I just had a special spot in my heart for the old brush busting .35 REM.
  11. A good lever gun for the woods of PA is a Marlin 336 in .35 REM.
  12. I rifle hunt in WI and AR and use a LH Rem. 700 in .308 and have been very pleased with it.
  13. This has been my experience too. Several years ago I did purchase a Shimano Calcutta TE 250 DC from ebay. The seller said it was "new in box" but after I received it and examined it I could tell it was VERY slightly used. Should have been described as "Like new in box". I kept it but was disappointed at how the seller described the condition.
  14. Love them and use them all the time!!
  15. I will admit to being a St. Croix rod and Shimano reel fanboy. I do have a couple of Daiwa's and one Abu Garcia LP musky reel. I think that currently pretty much all the stuff is good.
  16. I agree with @FishTank. I've primarily fished with Stradic's for the last 20 years and they have NEVER let me down.
  17. The stores in Rockford, IL and Janesville, WI are closing too. Bought a SC Legend Tournament bass rod normally $ 280.00 plus tax for $ 167.00 OTD. Didn't need it just Couldn't pass it up.
  18. I agree with @jbsoonerfan. I have the roadie and tunda and have discovered that for a "beer cooler" they aren't any better than a cheaper cooler BUT if I prechill and keep closed they DO keep things cold for a long time.
  19. These are my bass fishin' rods and reels.
  20. Does anyone have the SC LT Bass 7'1" MF spinning rod? Our local Gander Outdoors is going out of business and I can get it for 40% off.
  21. I like the St. Croix Legend Elite or Legend Xtreme with a Shimano Stradic Ci4+ attached. Rod length and action to me is preference. I like M/F or LM/F or M/XF in a rod 6'6"-7'0".
  22. I just bought a new Curado baitcaster reel for bass fishing and was wondering what line do most of you guys use, mono or braid. If this has been asked a million times please forgiive. TIA. Randy
