  1. For 1/16 oz jigs and plastics the 7’ light for sure, 1/32+plastic on this rod doesn’t load to well but is doable in a pinch. For 1/32 oz the 6’9” ul casts further. Don’t discount how important line is either, I use 6 lb test sufix nanobraid on the light and 4 lb test on the ultra light, these ultra thin lines helps with distance and sensitivity.
  2. Since you’re already in camp StCroix there’s really no need to look further, the panfish rod series are incredible values. I fish the upper Midwest and do all my panfishing with two setups... the 7’ light with daiwa exceler 2500 for twitching, spinners, cranks, jerks, etc. and the 6’9” ul with a daiwa exceler 1000 for pitching jigs and plastics. Both combos came in under $200 and are fish-all-day light and super sensitive. *edit they came in under $200 because I pick the reels up off eBay for 50 each
  3. Joe Buchers crankbait secret’s, the first fishing book that blew my mind.
  4. 34 pounds! That's pretty light, whats the make and model of that?
  5. I have a feeling you’re right, I’ve never seen that blade and logo before.
  6. Probably a long shot here but I recently acquired a bunch of these from an older friend who can’t fish anymore and haven’t been able to id them. They weigh in at around 1.75 ounces and are about the same size as a mepps giant killer, anyone recognize it?
  7. Yep, every other cast it seems I get snagged on these weird slimy green wiggly things
  8. 3000 for the win! Fyi it’s $145.87 on amazon right now, killer deal
  9. Been fishing the 5" money minnow about ten years now and didn't bother actually measuring it until primetime commented and was surprised to see it measure at only 4 1/2" to the top of the tail. I wasn't trying to imply any dishonesty on the part of the lure makers, was just confused.
  10. Thanks gentleman for the responses, kinda silly how basstrix measures those, oh well... decided to buy some 3:16 rising sons instead.
  11. Was getting ready to order some 5 and 6 inchers and notice they list “actual size” on the 5” as 4”, and actual size on the 6” as 5”, seems odd, can anyone confirm this is accurate?
  12. You won’t regret getting a 200, with an 8’ rod I can bomb a 1oz lure to the next county if need be, it also makes a great deep cranking reel. The tatula is pretty palmable too and weighs in just over 8oz.
  13. Daiwa tatula 200 (6.3) is what I use for 1/2 to 1 1/2oz lures, performs like a champ, I don’t think you can do much better for $120 (on eBay). The 100 size reels feel under powered for my spinnerbaits, usually 3/4 oz, but with trailers come in around 1 1/4- 1 1/2oz

  15. Well I did about a month ago and am now feeling pretty good about my slx purchase after reading that review
  16. I would enjoy that, count me in. Been using them more this year only because it seems everyone and their grandma is going to the chatter baits.
  17. Theres a daiwa tatula elite baitcaster 6.3:1 left handed on amazon for $209 + $6 shipping, one left, hurry!
  18. Being that they’re tuned with a split ring it kinda evens out with the snap replacing the ring
  19. I use them for the ones you mentioned as well as crankbaits and jerkbaits and occasionally swimjigs too.
  20. Largemouth Largemouth Rock bass Bluegill Crappie Dogfish Perch Pike Pumpkinseed white bass Walleye Drum Gar Hooked a small musky about two weeks ago while bassing, tail walked and broke off my hot spinnerbait ?
  21. The fuego will slow you down a little without compromising spool size, the 2500-D is 29.6 ipt, the 3000 is 31.6 ipt, theyre a little heavier though.
  22. Been using a pr8400s about a year now, makes a fantastic dropshot rod, also throws jerk baits like a boss. Most notably the rod has more backbone than most medium light power rods. No experience with the two specific rods you mentioned.
  23. My bank account would like a word with you...
