  1. Seen it on several occasions on my boat, not fun. We pulled the barb threw and cut it .
  2. My wife's panfish 2000 reel has 6lb Sunline Syper, no problem. The coil spring comes into play with heavier fluorocarbon line on shallow reels..... nightmare.
  3. I'm in VA, your good until midnight then you'll get locked up, tarred and feathered.
  4. Ha Ha , the wife and I will be in Maine for 2 weeks in July, Bar Harbor......we shall see 😀
  5. Wife and I camped again on a small 19 acre lake that was beyond clear, 20 ft visibility. Bluebird skies so every fish was caught early on Jackall flickShake GPC.

First time experiencing them and they have a significant impact. We live deep in the mountains in western Virginia and our property joins National forest. It looks like January here, trees stripped clean and millions of them crawling on the house. And get this ! Actually had to put the truck in 4wd to come up the driveway, was spinning in catapilar juice. I've pressure washed the house several times already. I've heard stories about them but never knew they could wipe out an entire mountain. Anyone ever experience these critters ?
  7. Spro bronze eye is all I throw, Snakeheads love them too.
  8. (2) 7" Garmins that I look at water temps and depth, rest of the time I'm casting to something that looks like it would hold a fish....... maybe a ATS of 3.
  9. The 80% makes perfect sense on low volume usage. A company that I worked for many years ago had equipment that ran off propane and a refill station. You opened the bleeder valve and filled the tank until propane ran out of the top. I have all my tanks refilled at tractor supply.
  10. I can't comprehend this behavior. 😳
  11. The actuator motor is my guess. Do you hear any noise in the differential ?
  12. Ironically every big fish that I've lost, I got a really good look at them, most right at the boat. It's happened enough that I've been desensitized. 😁
  13. Most of the water I fish is gin clear but occasionally travel to a new lake that is heavily stained. Tandem blade spinnerbait with some black and chartreuse is where I start.
  14. A fair statement. Yes the lakes I fish have quite a bit of visible cover, blow downs, standing timber, stumps, etc. Some of the lakes are very deep and clear " well over 100 ft " so finding offshore fish is next to impossible, I'd think.
  15. I still think casting to visible cover is more efficient than looking for fish on a screen. Old school here for the duration.
  16. Welcome to the site.
  17. The timing of this thread. Just last night the wife fixed Salmon and fresh caught Snakehead and Alabama spotted bass. We both said simultaneously....... give me spotted bass " a delicacy " . We both prefer Largemouth over bluegill as well. The wife and I do quite a bit of camping on lakes in VA and WV and the livewell gets a workout but only keep what the 2 of us can eat. I vote keep a few.

    Welcome to the site.
  19. My sister's boyfriend who is 69 and has fly fished all over the United States will only lay down his fly rod when fishing for largemouth bass. He claims it's virtually impossible to catch them in clear water on his gear. Idk We fished for for 3 hours last Monday and he was determined to catch a LM with a fly rod, nadda. Handed him a spinning rod with a Shakyhead and he caught 3 in 15 minutes. I've never fly fished.
  20. Snakes are a common site in the yard and around the house. Had a black snake looking at us through the door Monday evening. I don't kill any snake, just relocate rattlesnakes and copperheads.
  21. We have snakes galore here. This was actually this evening....... black snake invading our privacy.

Love those VMC crossover rings. I use them for Wacky and Neko and only occasionally lose a worm, rarely. .004 for finesse worms .006 for Senko
  23. Was bass fishing again this morning when this snakehead crashed a white Chatterbait. Waiting for the wife to get home and clean it for dinner 😁
  24. I'd say boat weight is the biggest player here. I have a 4 blade aluminum on a 17.5 aluminum boat " 60 HP " that consistently does 38 mph at 6100 rpms. The lakes here aren't very large so speed isn't a priority. I prefer to be on plane quickly and cruising at lower Rpms.
  25. For shear numbers, wacky worm on 1/16 head. For bigger fish during prespawn, jig.
