Curly tail worms anyone ?
This was my observation as well. I threw Culprit for many years and slowly fell victim to trends and didn't even realize it. Going to make an effort to throw some this year.

Curly tail worms anyone ?
It's not necessarily the fault of the worm but rather the technique that seems to require a straight tail....... wacky, Neko, mojo, dropshot, weightless Senko. Glad to hear the curly is still kicking.

Curly tail worms anyone ?
Getting ready for a week long trip with the wife " and dog " to my favorite lake in VA. Was taking inventory of the large amount of tackle on the boat and NOT a single curly tail worm , no Zoom, no Culprit. Seems the trend has shifted to straight tail which I have an abundance, Senko, Zoom finesse, Jackall flickShake and others. So went to my storage locker inside the house and grabbed a few packs of Zoom curly tail " watermelon red " to take along and maybe reinvent the past when every worm I threw was a curly tail. Are they still legit ? And y'all still throwing them ?

Who Carries Daily.....and What Do You Carry...and Why..?
I live in a rural area so guns and hunting are a popular topic around here. Yes, carry daily and all vehicles are armed as well. Oh and AR leaning against the bedroom wall 😁

Leader knots small line
I've only ever tied the Alberto knot so can't speak of the others. I can tell you this, Whenever I snag and have to break off, the leader is still there.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Fished a clear water lake in WV and was very surprised to find the water temp at 49* but the lake does sit over 3000 ft elevation. Caught only 3 fish, 2 on a square bill and my 1st smallmouth of the year on Zoom speed craw 1/8 Shakyhead.

Why so many different lines of rod?
I can feel the difference between a $50 rod vs a $250 rod but can the fish ? Choice is good for the economy, I get that and it ain't just fishing equipment. I went into Lowe's to buy a gallon of latex paint and had to listen to a 30 minute seminar from an employee on why this paint is better than that paint and this paint has UV protection but this other brand is better at resisting mildew. Just throw money at it.

Unfortunate 2-stroke failure.
The embarrassing part. He trusted the auto oiler as well but it was dry. 😳

Unfortunate 2-stroke failure.
Went fishing with an old buddy of mine at lake Anna, 2 hr drive. We were on the water less than 10 minutes when the engine died. This engine ran fantastic in the past ( Mariner 150 ) so we tried priming and restarting, nothing. The starter was laboring with a brand new battery. Um, my buddy forgot to add 2-stroke oil and straight gassed the engine, sieged, locked up. I felt bad for him, he's 68 retired and this is his 4th bass boat.

Retirement.... Age 63+ and finally looking forward to it!
Idk, if you pick the right bait it's bicep curls all day 😂. Nah, actually great advice, exercise is critical for so many reasons, avoid the doctors.

7:5:1 Gear Ratio for all around?
Every year the ratio gets faster. Idk I honestly don't look when buying a reel, my hand can adjust on the fly.

Crappie lures to cover water and target bigger fish
Last year my wife caught a 2lb bass and a 11" Crappie on a 1/8 beetle spin while fishing for bluegill, chartreuse silver blade.

What was or is your favorite baitcating reel?
My first baitcaster was a beautiful gold Shimano Bantam. Built and performed so well it trigged an interest.

Getting new tires for trailer- To balance or not to balance?
I've had all mine balanced but have always delivered the wheels and tires to the shop...... boat and trailer on jack stands.

Is the Texas Rig one of your confidence baits ?
T-rig is a hall of Fame technique, top 5 all-time. BUT I have strayed and not been faithful to it..... give me a finesse worm on a .03 VMC crossover ring and 1/16 wacky hook. Rarely do I miss a fish and the worm and ring potentially can last all day. AND where are we fishing? Is it windy? What depth? Water clarity ? I'm predominantly fish gin clear water with very steep banks and the slow fall of a horizontal worm out fished a T-rig but a terrible choice in wind.

Fish in my pond
I'm mainly a catch and release fisherman but when I take the wife, the livewell gets put to use. Largemouth from the clear water we fish are a delicacy but we're usually camping and cook them on an open fire with Oak and Apple wood...... certainly makes a difference.

Boat Hotel
I did a lot of work on some spectacular homes in Middleburg and Upperville in the mid 80's....... definitely horse country. A nice perk was, I fished some really nice farm ponds. 😁

Fishing Mistakes - New Article
I make mistake #1 unless it's an area I know very well and have caught fish there many times. Taking fishing to seriously " mistake #5 " ........ not a chance. I find bass fishing and all that it incorporates extremely enjoyable and definitely not a task. Thanks for the article.

Trolling Batteries
In my experience you should easily expect 3 years from just about any deep cycle battery, twice that. Repetitive deep discharge is what you want to avoid.

Looking to improve my bass weighing process ~
I'd say every fish I catch spends 15 seconds or less out of water. Some days I simply don't feel like taking pics and others I do. Scales and gripper on the boat but never get used. @A-Jay I've watched your videos and the current procedure " deal " will be hard to improve apon.

Boat Position vs Bass Caught
Person up front picks up the active fish. Imo As mentioned, if in the back don't throw the exact same bait.
