  1. I use these as well pending the lure.. they work great .
  2. I’m searching for a info for Lake/Pond vegetation with images, names and descriptions with benefits or negatives . I’m finding sites but not with the info I’m looking for like what puts off oxygen or sucks it up. Can anyone point me in the direction to a good site ? Thanks
  3. Love my Favorite Big Sexy Rods $200 and can always get a 20% off code.
  4. Are both reels off the same spool? If so ,, as u just probably read I respooled with new 50lb Line and it’s fine now. I’m sure some will say I probably didn’t spool it tight enough but that’s not the case, I know it was spooled tight . With the new line I put on I was able to set my reel like I usually do as well.
  5. Respooled with another spool of 50lb Power pro. All is well. When I spooled first time I know I spooled it tight. So no idea what it was but landed a nice 3lb er on first cast that fought like a big boy . Pretty cool walking across thin layer of Algae in shallows and you can anticipate the hit as u see the scum rippling towards the frog .
  6. Hense I’m just going to remove and respool. Sure it’s a easy remedy .. just frustrating cause I know it’s something stupid and can’t figure it out. I am going to respool new line though, even though this line is new .
  7. Regular Power Pro. Just got home from a quick dusk trip . Before I went out I hooked onto a lil branch and walked it out probably 75 yards and spooled back up tight. Same thing. Backlash and massive dig in. I know how to cast and set up a bait caster lol so I don’t get it .. Like I’ve said prior I haven’t had these issues before with any braid for anything I’m throwing. Probably just going to unspool and try another spool of the same and see what happens.
  8. I just have not experienced this problem with lighter braid walking frogs.
  9. Unfortunately a fisherman in a boat with 2 children ended up in the water last Sunday. They found him Tuesday . The children were safe from what I understand. They still don’t know the story last I’ve found.. but this small lake gets crowded on weekends as they rent kayaks, canoes, paddle boards. I can only assume his legs may have gotten caught up in growth as there is a lot of it. No PFD .
  10. Recently went up to 50lb braid frogging heavy cover.. at first it was fine casting.. last 2 outings I have had the worst backlashes I have ever had,,, massive dig in’s . Most of my reels are spooled with braid and have zero issues. Are my frog’s not creating enough drag when reeling in with the 50lb braid and not re creating a tight spoil? It seems tight but this dig in is massive.. I don’t have any problems with the 15/20 and 30lb braid I throw. I tightened up my spool to no side to side which I have usually have a lil side to side. Tightened my brakes a little to and still having these backlashes. It’s not on every cast but a couple times a hour. I just don’t get it.. I never have these problems with braid.
  11. Definitely true on St.Croix being a little heavier than rated.. Just picked up a Mojo 6’8 casting rod MH / F and it surprised me how stout it is from backbone to tip.
  12. I have always struggled with this, not so much as detecting with my finger tips but palming the reel in a manner I’m comfortable doing so with a finger on the line and sticking to it..if that is the technique your speaking of... may sound dumb but..
  13. Ups ground takes a bit from California as expected as I’m in Pa. lol. Really ? I ordered a couple packs off hooks the other week and it’s was a thru the roof for expedited delivery.
  14. Not at all, more of a curiosity thing since I've seen so much on how much I would lose.. now I will say when frogging cast distance does come into play at times "for Me".
  15. Point of topic is I thought I would lose casting distance going “from” 20lb to 50lb and I did not.. What BaitFinesse posted answered summed it up for me,, something as heavy as a frog , weight of line doesn’t deter as much.
  16. I’ve read and watched many YouTube video on how much distance you lose when going up from 10 to 20lb braid. I finally switched one reel from 20lb up to 50lb (both standard Powerpro) , same rod/reel . Tested with same frog . Dialed in and see no lose of distance. Took to local spot where I know my max distance bombing.. hitting same spot . No change in effort to achieve it either. My understanding was I was gong to lose a lot of distance.
  17. Hit the water at 6am.. was just myself and the Fish til about 10am.. couldn’t believe it.. with the heat I hit it different.. worked one side twice in the shade. Only a couple dinks.. than hit a big girl and lost it in the Lily pads. Was not happy.
  18. I frog with Hi Viz Yellow.. frog still gets slammed... most hits r reaction for me.. I do use a black sharpie to last few feet of line.
  19. Stick to setting 2 .. find the sweet spot on the spool tension, Which is not adjusting til no side to side play. I run mine with a little rattle in side to side. Yes you will have to thumb it but I can max cast it that way.. how much side to side is something u have to find as that sweet spot. Running no side to side play is just not getting max Performace out of it. Only time I go to setting 3 or 4 is skipping.. 1 I never go to. Everyone is different but that’s how I run mine as do my buddies with them.
  20. This is where I just need to stop screwing around and dedicate 1 rod for frogging / punching heavy cover .. I try to mix up to much and it just makes things more confusing and frustrating.
  21. I get it.. curiosity ...what gear ratio were you using the whole time?
  22. Was looking at some diameters and standard Power Pro is thicker than 832- 50lb 832 .34 , 50lb Power Pro .36. Was gonna grab another spool of Power Pro but may try 832.. never tried it. Have always used Power Pro... but do a lot still choose 832 over a 4 carrier for fishing heavy cover frogging?
  23. This has all been recently.. I am usually fine sitting in yak or standing from bank casting. Like I said it was just throwing weightless.. I add a bulletin weight back on and problem goes away .
