The Toit Knot?
- The Toit Knot?
This is a trilene knot with more wraps up top. I really don't see how this is an improvement over that. Its also super sketch that his own knot is the strongest ... who wouldve guessed his tshirt and youtube channel name would predict the winner?- Shimano Nasci 2500 Handle
No trick just keep the spool from moving and tighten the handle. There really shouldn't be a reason for movement the other way since there is no AR to switch off.- Abu Garcia JDM?
Random question but as I've been looking more into the ultralight rods and reels, I noticed that surprisingly Abu Garcia is a big player in the JDM market. I was curious if anyone knew if Abu Garcia JDM stuff is coming out of Doyo or whatever its called or if its made elsewhere. https://jdmtackleheaven.com/collections/abu-garcia- Have you ever attempted a minor rod repair yourself?
idk ... get in touch with customer service?- Have you ever attempted a minor rod repair yourself?
Doesn't seem like an issue that warrants replacement. They'll probably just slap some glue on it and call it a day.- Looking to swap gears in curado

- Reel handle slipping
Anti reverse is bad or overgreased. Pull the AR inner sleeve and wipe that down with alcohol and reinstall. Usually thats enough unless it was really really overgreased in which case you may have to clean the individual rollers on the AR.- reel bearings
IMO the only bearings where an upgrade might give you added performance is the spool bearings and even then its iffy. Not a fan of Boca. Whenever I have to replace, I go ABEC5 from TRB RC. Reasonably priced and their customer service is top notch. https://trbrc.com/search-results-page?q=Fishing- Best baitcasting reel under $100?
Aren't CAs and CCs linear mag brakes instead of Magforce Z?- What is the Best Heavy Duty Reel
Curado 300K > Curado 200K Where are you getting those drag figures from?? 200K = 12lbs 300K = 22lbs- Supertune ... a spinning reel?
This is a semi follow up to my last post. Took apart the Shimano Nasci once more and after going through all parts, found that the oscillating slider was cast roughly on the inside hole that rides on the slide pin. I took some 1500 sandpaper and smoothed it out. But then I realized it may not be a bad idea to go over other friction parts of the oscillation mechanism with the sandpaper. All polishing described below done with 1500 grit sandpaper. Oscillating slider 1. Polish back (shown) to a shine 2. Wrap sandpaper around a tooth pick and polish hole that rides on the guide pin 3. Polish inside wavy area that the oscillating gear nub rides on Oscillating gear 1. Polish face (shown) to a shine 2. Lightly polish inner hole This is a process I had never done before, and I probably should have taken pictures. Anyhow the difference is night and day even compared to other Nascis I own. I have supertuned (or tried) baitcasters before and never felt that it was worth the effort especially on $100+ reels. However, with spinning reels Shimano and Daiwa still typically use oscillating systems like the ones shown below and have lots of room for improvement. The sanding performed was minimal and I don't feel it should have significant, if any impact on wear (if I'm wrong, feel free to let me know). This is not a process I have heard of before and just wanted to share because the results were much better than expected.- Sunline: fluoro damage from backlashing
I wonder how the 5% lower strength compares to degradation caused by UV in mono?- Best baitcasting reel under $100?
flation- Sunline: fluoro damage from backlashing
IMO 5% seems extraordinarily low. You'd need a lot of backlashes to weaken the line to the point where it breaks off on a cast.- Shimano Nasci Clicking
Recently cleaned a newish Shimano Nasci FB to try to get rid of a clicking sound. Ive tested it without spool, still clicks. Without handle, still clicks. Bearings are good. It only clicks in the upright position, if i reel with the reel horizontal, no click. The spool shaft does not appear to be bent and the reel free spins great. From everything Ive seen, it appears to be due to the oscillation design as it seems to click when the oscillating slider ends are reached by the pin on the oscillating gear? The pin that the oscillating slider slides on has a fair amount of play as it enters from under the reel body as opposed to the side and the bottom cover does not have a prong to reduce the movement. Anyone else experience this clicking or any ideas on what to check?- Your favorite bluegill lure?
I have #10, #8, and #6. Primarily use the #10 with marabou tails. Once they're wet they cast well enough. I have a couple of #10s without the tail and I'm lucky if i can get 10ft on those.- First Foray Into the Dark Side (first JDM order)
I contacted the seller and didnt hear a thing from them ... zero response so I started the claim. Then all of a sudden a refund showed up from the seller.- First Foray Into the Dark Side (first JDM order)
No idea but honestly blessing in disguise ... refund is already in my bank account and I found a better model for only a few bucks more. Going plat this time.- Falcon Grass Rod?
Found a made in USA Falcon Grass rod for sale. Falcon Grass Rod FC-6-1610 Heavy 1/4-3/4oz. 12-25 lb test. Haven't heard of these and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this rod. Any input is appreciated.- Your favorite bluegill lure?
I originally purchased them at WalMart about 15 years ago but have been buying straight from the company since. https://www.pistolpeteflies.com/pistol-pete-flies-store-fly-selection I cast them on an UL rated down to 1/32oz on 4lb line.- Your favorite bluegill lure?
In clear water its hard to beat a pistol pete spin fly. I used to walk the banks of the river here in Austin and the typical lures did well but rock bass were impossible to catch with anything but these.- Going old school...
FYI you're on the rods, reels, and lines forum ... ain't no one paring down here. We enjoy the gear as much if not more than the fish.- Nasci FC 1000 reviews?
IMO the Spheros is Shimano's best spinning reel for the price. You get worm shaft oscillation for only $20 over the Nasci and as a bonus the name of the reel is also easier to pronounce. I just wish they made it in smaller sizes. - The Toit Knot?
