Found a new favorite reel grease
Had heard of Krytox 226 being used on the salt side but price kept me from even trying. Probably still wont give it a go. Cals on gears has worked well enough and there's no issues if it sneaks into the drag stack.

Clear water tactics
I'd add jerkbaits to the list

FGs and thin lines
If the knot is slipping it's probably not your finish thats the issue. FG shouldn't slip even if its unfinished. You should be able to cinch down prior to finishing the knot with no slippage.

Broke screw off in frame of reel putting on the sideplate
A bit of a shock considering a graphite side plate. Since that's the case, I'd probably reach out to Shimano since it seems like a defect.

Broke screw off in frame of reel putting on the sideplate
Add layers of tape above the broken screw and as you add a layer, poke a hole to reveal only the broken screw. Then as mentioned above, take a tiny drill bit and get to work. My guess though is its cross threaded.

Shimano Stella FJ fishing reels - next update?
Read this comment yesterday and thought ... I've never really had an issue with line rollers on Shimanos. Then this morning had an issue with my Nasci. I KNOW ITS NOT A STELLA lol but when i took it apart this morning, I was surprised to find that the assembly was roller on shaft ... no bearing or bushing that can be replaced. Its obviously a much much cheaper reel than a Stella but even my $20 BPS spinning reels at least have a bushing that can be swapped out for a bearing.

ARK Reels?
im sure the contract will stipulate what must be said as well as how

Shimano Stella FJ fishing reels - next update?

Which Baitcaster? new tech or old faithful?
I think the limiting factor there is going to be the rod. Just from fishing my 6'10 MH Tatula today and playing around with it, it doesn't feel like a "true" 1/4 oz lower limit ... 3/8 feels much better on it. Compared to my previous MH with the same rating this one is not as good at casting lighter lures.

Curado worm gear issue
Or the shaft. The plastic used isn't meant to bend and there should be no pressure on it from normal use.

Curado worm gear issue
Yeah something else is off there. If you pull the line guide pawl off does it make a difference?

Curado worm gear issue
What do you mean tight when reeling? The bushing should not make it hard to spin. Without the drive gears, are you able to turn the worm gear easily by hand?

CAUTION when reading ROD and REEL purchaser reviews
Specs > reviews In the case of that reel with stripped gears, even if the review was legit, if it was purchased from a reputable manufacturer it likely has some type of warranty and you'll be fine. If you focus solely on reviews you'll wind up buying nothing but KastKing and Piscifun since they have the most reviews (I believe many of those "purchased") and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. I too place more stock on opinions shared here but at the end of the day what matters to me may not matter to others. An example is the Curado K which is touted as a reel superior to the "I" series by most, including many members here. Yet every time I take it apart for cleaning, the fact that the frame screws into the plastic sideplate instead of the sideplate screwing into the aluminum frame and the fact that it has a plastic levelwind tells me that it is an inferior reel to the "I".

Recent mono quality
Last times being how recent? I haven't purchased line in a while but am curious as to timeframe

Pflueger Spinning Reel Choice
Idk why but I was under the impression those got carbon fiber. So only the limited editions get carbon fiber drags?

Pflueger Spinning Reel Choice
Aren't the standard Presidents felt drag reels?

Cheap Reels
^ the last two Fuegos i picked up on Amazon were both under $80. Retail under $100, I have not found baitcasters I've liked.

Full Cork Jig/Worm Rod ($100-$180ish)
Thanks to all. 6' 10 tatula arrived today and other than the reel lock down (dont like cork lock downs), I'm impressed.

Ardent Reel Kleen
Nope, I remove/replace shields during the cleaning and oiling process. Hedgehog studio tool is good.

Ardent Reel Kleen
MAF sensor cleaner is the best thing ive found. Safe on plastics and extremely effective. A big pricey but it goes a long ways. I use this for bearings only. Everything else gets simple greened followed up by a quick 99% alcohol rinse.

I need REALY small diameter mono to catch shiners for bait. 2 # test or smaller Fly leaders are OK
Casting net ftw

How smart are fish ?
Who knows. I mean honestly if someone was picking up humans to test their intelligence, do you think the smart ones would get caught? The scientists aren't testing the genius uncatchable fish in my lake because they can't be caught ... trust me I've tried

Sometimes it doesn't pay to skimp
My understanding is when fishing line is extruded or whatever the process is, the best line is used for leader material, next best for premium line, then regular brand and the low quality/inconsistent line sold to others to sell under their name. I may be way off but I remember reading this somewhere and found it interesting that top shelf premium line and off brand low quality line could come from the same batch.

Full Cork Jig/Worm Rod ($100-$180ish)
Looking to upgrade my jig/worm rod and prefer full cork. I know the recommendation is going to be to try the rods first but full cork is hard to come by online and non-existent in most stores. Anyhow, anyone got a good recommendation on a full corker within that price range?

We need a laugh about going long rod crazy.
My all-purpose rods are 9' salmon rods. Will handle most fish from trophy carp to table worthy catfish.
