  1. Recently purchased, and yeah, return already in progress. I was hoping this wouldn't be my first issue with a Shimano reel that wasn't easily fixed. It appears its a somewhat common occurrence.
  2. If you were a fish ... would you rather eat bait off a paper plate or a GOLD platter?
  3. Hoping someone has a quick fix for this. Anyhow the baitrunner on my Shimano Baitrunner D is not disengaging and allowing me to shift to the main drag. Has anyone come across this or does anyone know if there's an easy fix for this? Reel is practically new.
  4. Google gave me that image. I just use the magnet with nothing else attached.
  5. I probably should have bought a tray a long time ago. At least once a year I find myself on the floor with one of these sweeping the floor. Haven't dropped a part this hasn't been able to pick up ... so far ...
  6. There's less fish now ... at least that's one of the many excuses I like to use
  7. Does anyone know if line diameters have changed or remained roughly constant for any given lb. test throughout the years? I am currently reading Lunkers Love Nightcrawlers and all the talk about 4 and 6 lb. test line made me wonder if perhaps back in the day this line carried a thicker diameter than it does today.
  8. Short of dropping the reel, those should be fine. I would suspect a bad idler bearing first. Have you tried replacing all bearings back to old and seeing if issue persists?
  9. Whatever it is, it definitely sounds shaft related. If its not bent, have you checked the set screw for it?
  10. Upright only? Is it oscillating fine otherwise?
  11. I fell out of love with my Ethos HD MH. It looks great on paper and felt great in store but the more I fish it, the less I like it. It's not a balance issue either, I just dont feel it gives me the feedback I want.
  12. No experience with that particular rod but typically Salmon rods are more parabolic and that isn't something I would want if I'm sticking a rod in a beach spike.
  13. What rod is this? Stuff to fix it right may cost more than a replacement ...
  14. If you have an Orvis store nearby, they do (or used to) free casting clinics every so often. You can bring your own rod and get some "expert" feedback. It won't be the best but hands-on instruction usually helps.
  15. Select 1oz size. It's not for all sizes. See below
  16. Get to buyin then ... Click link below. Select 1oz and see option ... https://dobynsrods.com/product/football-jig-two-toned-brown-purple/ Only reason I didn't pull trigger is shipping. I don't want enough jigs to make it worth it.

  18. Carbon fiber handle of mysterious origin ... $10 BOB! Unless it has a brand name printed somewhere on there, we have to assume shishamo made it. EDIT: Legit studio composite handles going for $150+ on the bay
  19. Maybe its seeing it on a small screen or the banjo music that made me think it was one continuous shot of the handle being spun both directions
  20. Did they flip the A/R switch on that baitcaster or am i missing something here?
  21. My guess is they've monitored the second hand market and have determined how much people are willing to pay for a rod and have decided better they get the profits than a reseller. This thread makes it seem like they were forced into the price increase ... they're a premium brand and if they think the rods will sell at a 100% mark up, they'll do it.
  22. Considering its a $200 rod, id say thats a good sale.
  23. More importantly why are they glued with a moisture sensitive adhesive so that once one tiny piece is gone its only a matter of time until it all goes
  24. I dont believe it will be quite that easy ... rod butt on the passenger floorboard and tip out the drivers rear window
