  1. I remove split rings on all lures that come with them and replace with norman speed clips. If it doesnt come with split rings, then it doesnt get a speed clip. Palomar knot to the speed clip. I do retie after hang ups or larger fish.
  2. Yeah i noticed it at the lake i fish. Lots of people fishing early on, many of them, you could tell were just learning. They fished while they could be caught shallow but once they got skunked a couple of times they were done.
  3. Lol same mistake i made .. the OP wants higher end stuff ... not the stuff i can afford ?
  4. Whats the depth youre trying to hit? I purchased an extra spool for my deep cranking reel and carry 1 spool with 15# and one with 10#. The 10# only comes out when the 15# is unable to hit bottom with any of the crankbaits i have.
  5. Don't tell me that! ... I was hoping to get a Super Duty 300 for this purpose. It seems 5x ratio Shimanos dont come cheap.
  6. Carolina rig - Senko, Brush Hog, fluke Deep Diving Crankbait - H2O CRD+
  7. Fished with 20lb copoly today and it managed to not lose any weights. The combination of lighter weight and less sensitive line make for a very different feeling rig and I likely fished it too fast. In either case, thanks to everyone for the suggestions. It seems I have at least a temporary solution.
  8. i believe that one goes inside the spring notch side down with the other end on a hole designed to hold it.
  9. I love my Ethos HD as well. Only thing that would make it better is full grips.
  10. ^ 30 is a good size. If youre super concerned about line twist 35 might work for you. Although it is heavier and only gets worse sizes 40 and up.
  11. This guy did the right thing ... he clickbaited a bunch of people into thinking this was real. Rest assured if you try to draw like that odds are youll wind up dead.
  12. The same? ... Curly tail worm top, ribbon tail worm bottom
  13. Gave the lighter weight (3/8) a shot and caught a couple of fish but eventually lost the rig at the weight again. Changed out braid to 20lb copoly today to see if we get any better results.
  14. ? Shes belongs to the deep now. The area itself is just a difficult to fish area. Its a quarry that got filled when they hit an underwater spring. The particular area Ive been fishing lately is a pretty large rock pile but Ive wondered if there is some type of rod iron, tools, or machinery down there. Its been my most consistent producer in the shad pattern. It does not dive to advertised depth (realistically running about 20' max) but it gives good feedback and has decent action. I am not sure if its the lip angle as it enters the body or the length of the bill but something helps it deflect of the rock much better than other crankbaits.
  15. Just back to post an update here. So I received my Dredger 20.5 on Sat and finally got to fish it today. I threw a short cast to see the action and while @scaleface described it as suspending it does rise it just kind of turns before rising as opposed to most lures that back out and up and then start to 180 if you feed them line. I had a feeling this would be an issue in the area I was fishing and sure enough ... 1st cast ... solid snag. Not sure what happened but I believe it may have gotten into a rock crevice then turned to get wedged. With all of that said, resistance was about on par with the Academy H2O Xpress CRD+ crankbaits but definitely less than my other deep divers.
  16. KVD Line and Lure is the only thing I do. I'm sure its fine to dunk the spool but I'm simply not a fan of dunking anything or getting water into any parts of a reel purposefully. If you choose to dunk the spool, just make sure to remove the drag stack first and fully dry that area prior to reassembly.
  17. Carbon Fire Speed Stick is what I have. Its been a great rod. Its decently sensitive and casts extremely well probably because of the smaller guides it has. I would highly recommend this rod.
  18. I used to pick the mister twister gamefish grab bag once a year. Great way to try different soft plastics for super cheap. I believe you got something like 75 pieces for about $8. Seems its been discontinued though ... thanks COVID
  19. I cant for the life of me get a bite on the only elaztech worms i have. Theyre incredibly durable but I dislike that they dont play nice with other soft plastics.
  20. Sometimes the smallest things can make all the difference in the world. As an example, with lipless crankbaits there are times that bass will only take one brand and ignore all others for some reason be it the sound, action, or something else entirely. One isnt necessarily better than the other (components may be better and it may last longer), they simply have different situations in which they perform better.
  21. The true star of the soft plastic show for me
  22. What size is the reel? If you get on eBay at all, message the seller below. They typically carry a large stock of Pflueger reel parts. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pflueger-reel-repair-parts-handle-President-6725-6730-and-6725-6730-XT-models/164294209879?hash=item2640b2b157:g:jhIAAOSw4GdemMIW
  23. Moderate speed which gradually gets faster with every fish caught until i realize how fast im fishing
