Rod to pair with Daiwa Coastal 150
Bought my kid a coastal for xmas, but looking for something different to pair it with in a M/H rod. So far he has a Daiwa Tatula and Dobyn Fury in his other set ups. Both are amazing. Looking to try something different in the $150 range. Only caveat is no micro guides. Thanks everyone.

Is this normal?
Haven't fished as long as you, but never saw a fish like this so was just curious.

Is this normal?
My son caught this one a few weeks ago at a community pond. The tail area looks jacked to me. I've never seen anything like it. Wonder if its some type of deformity? Caught at least two others with the same issue, unless it was the same fish...

Rainy day in Portland, OR - Trying a spybait for the first time
Thanks. Sounds similar to a few spotted bass (I think) that we've caught at a small pond and the mouths seems visibly smaller than other LMB I've caught. Made them a bit difficult to lip.

Sweet fish. Just curious, does it feel any different lipping a SM compared to LM bass? I have yet to catch a SM, but can't wait.

Any idea on weight?
My son got this one yesterday. So excited to get her released, we didn't even weight it. I'm thinking 5lbs?

Columbia River (Washington side)
I was born and raised in portland. My dad was a chef at a restaurant right on the river named Barts Wharf. Not sure what's there now. He even had a boat down at the dock. So sad we weren't into bass fishing at that time. Had no idea how good it may have been.

Clearlake, CA
How many fish did you get in total? My buddy went about a month ago and said the bite was on all day. I'm not exactly where on the lake he fished, but he has a boat. I guess there is a long stretch of lily pads one one area for top water. Sorry about the algae bloom. looks nasty!!

off shore bite going crazy right now PV
Wow, sounds like a blast. I've been salwater fishing twice recently going for calicos. I think I need to stick with the lakes. I'm just not cut out to deal with sea sickness.

My son caught this nice sea bass a few days ago and the tail was mangled. Poor guy. I hope it grows back. He still fought like a beast.

PB Alert for my son.
Yes Private. The only thing we can catch with there is cut fish. Lures are difficult. Fun nontheless.

PB Alert for my son.
Been on a bit of a roll lately. All the fish in this lake appear to be in the 3-5 lb range with an occasional 6++.

7.2 lb this evening
Congrats. 7's fight pretty darn hard. I still can't imagine what a DD might feel like.

Trying to build a new casting set up.
I want to build a lighter casting set up for weightless plastics and worming. High on my list is a Phenix feather 7ft1 Meadium/Light rod and a Daiwa Tatula 100. Anyone have this combo? FWIW, I had a feather before, but lost it in the ocean. My other current set up is a Curado DC and Avid X M/H rod.

Pros and Cons of joining a Bass club
It sounds like a bass club isn't the right thing for my son and I. We are already involved in a very competitive sport which takes a lot of time and money. We are much more cut out fishing on weekends for fun with friends even if it means getting skunked.
