  1. ordered some lure and hooks. didn't see much i needed or that was a super deal. was surprised even their shirts were not on sale.
  2. lews rods, cant beat them for the price! and recently purchased a denali attax that im really enjoying.
  3. always lews and abu garcia that sell spinning reels... shimano and diawa arent the only ones with quality reels.
  4. no way! because then i might come to my senses and not buy anymore lol
  5. 30lb sufix 832 braid with a baitcaster setup. no issues
  6. they definitely make some really good reels and prices are great
  7. im right handed but use left hand reels, both spinning and bait casting. its more comfortable and makes more sense to me, less switching hands after casting to be able to reel in.
  8. i have one and tried it with no luck. might have to give it another shot this season.
  9. i ordered one of each color and received mine already. both sizes dive 1-4 ft it says on the back of the package and they come with a oval split ring installed. quality seems good too. only regret is i didnt order more.
  10. did the same thing when i bought my slx dc carbontex drag washers, ceramic bearings and a 95mm handle. quality set of spool bearings do make a difference.
  11. monkey got me but wish there was more info as in weight a diving depth. couldnt find any info on booyah either, which seemed weird.
  12. lol shimano and daiwa customer service is fairly bad. sure they sell great products but after that, you are on your own for the most part. i own a diawa and a shimano, both high end models and love them but i also own 14 lews reels and rods. sure some of their colors are geared towards the younger generation and are more fun but their reels are top notch and even the $100-150 ones are a great band for the buck! not to mention customer service! need help? call them... need a part? call them.... warranty work? call them... i even called once for a couple of spare pars i wanted to buy and they said no charge and sent them to me! next was a reel frame issue. sent a pic in, called and within a week new frame etc was in my hand. so is the "name brand" reels all that? yes and no....
  13. ive used it twice now with a 3/8 oz lure and it did just fine. even though many will disagree, i used it once without ceramic bearings and then installed them and used it after and it did cast the lighter lure easier. so far i love this reel! only thing i would maybe change is the large handle,i believe its 100mm and a 90 or 95mm would fit better in my opinion.
  14. i couldnt find any info either on the reel but decided to jump on it! glad i did too! great reel, especially for the money. i threw in ceramic spool bearings today and its even smoother feeling.
  15. i have a pond i fish some times just as you explained. i dont even bother with anything texas rigged and just focus on mid and top lures. works well too. i even tried weightless texas rigged and still came up with gunk all over the bait. maybe someone has a better answer...
  16. i saw those too and they looked pretty realistic! i did happen to see a youtube video though of it braking off right at the line tie section on the first outing but did catch a few fish! also the hook up ratio wasnt very good either.
  17. received my daiwa catalina today. very nice reel! a little bigger then expected or compared to most lews and shimano reels that i own. feels very smooth and playing around in the yard it was easy to setup and casting is very very good. cant wait to get it out on the water now. for the price, it was a steal of a deal in my opinion.
  18. 16 rod and reel setups, all using braid. power pro and sufix 832. never a issue! definitely dont go below 30# on a baitcaster! some times i will use mono for a leader but mostly on lures with treble hooks, so the hooks dont get tangles as easy on the line.
  19. chatterbait as well. i have yet to catch anything with one.
  20. ordered that reel today! seems like a great deal. im right handed but use left hand reels, tried a right hand reel once and felt very odd to me. im really surprised left hand reels arent more popular.
  21. i use the baby bull shad and the h20 xpress one as well, both work fine and both catch fish. the bull shad is bigger in size and worth the price! they can also be had on sale through dicks often or use coupon codes on them.
  22. went through the same situation with my slx dc. and talking to shimano was no help at all other then them telling me im over thinking it as far as setup instructions... skipping is perfect and so is casting into the wind but to set it per their instructions and have no backlash isnt going to happen and you still have to thumb is before the bait hits the water which shimano did tell me about. my opinion is that these dc reels are over hyped and dont do exactly as they claim to do! but ill admit with some time spent on it, im pretty happy with it. would i buy another? nope! i know how to throw a baitcast reel already and the money could have been spent on a better reel i my opinion. i use braid and use setting 2 and spool tension i set just like any other reel, bait falls steady to ground and when it hits, the spool doesnt fluff up.
  23. vote for lews! good quality at a reasonable price.... and their customer service is far better then most.
  24. i wonder if the same sizes fit the slx dc models too ? i was looking at upgrading my slx dc hg.
  25. upgrading to ceramic bearings can make a difference, especially in a cheaper model reel.... less friction is always a advantage but i agree out reel never see the rpm's ceramic bearings are rated for or is there a need for anything above a 5 rating. the only way a oem bearing will be a resistant as a ceramic is with no oil and freshly cleaned but will suffer longevity issues.
