  1. So here's the deal- last weekend thru yesterday our temps were 70s-80s- wake up today its rainy windy with a high around 50. Tomorrow looks like more of the same. Went out today and caught 1 on a lizard, one on a chatterbait (actually siebert fogy)off the bank a ways and missed one on a spinnerbait right on the bank in maybe a foot of water...not much of a pattern there. Water temps in my area are low mid 50s. Area I'm fishing is a little to snaggy for Ned rig...that would be my go to in this situation otherwise. So I'm in an area I'm confident has fish, the water temps are decent and tomorrow is the 2nd day into a rainy cool down. What would you throw?
  2. Received my order today: 3 packs of summer craw menaces and 2-10pks of 3\16 no chip tungstens. I've used your tungsten for several years and its all I throw. Good quality at a fair price.
  3. I've had mixed results finding morels. Most time I find none...every now and then I find a few. Last year however I stumbled across a pile. Was fishing at my local pond and happened to find them where ive never seen them...found 37 I believe it was in a spot smaller then my living room.
  4. I'm a jig guy probably 75% of the time and save the T rig for the warmest water of the year..almost always with a good size worm on it.
  5. I got into a deal on here last year where I said war eagles break more often then other brands. @Bluebasser86 informed me that all spinnerbaits break after enough fish...I said maybe but I never break Booyahs. The next day I broke a Booyah with a 5lb largemouth stealing the head and me getting the blades. After that I decided to not talk crap about spinnerbait brands again! That said I've found the Nichols baits to be very durable.
  6. Well guess I'm the only one!
  7. There is a sportsmans club in my town that has access to a series of connected old gravel ponds that have been stocked with a number of species. They rent or I guess lease the land from the gravel company that still owns the ground. I have a buddy that became a member last year..they have a few fundraisers and yearly dues of $100 I think per member to pay the lease and also go towards fish stocking. Its closed membership so someone has to either give up there spot or die and even then you have to be sponsored by a member and voted on by the group to get in.
  8. So its just about time for the asparagus and morels to start popping in my neck of the woods. Got me thinking...who out there likes to forage wild edibles? What do you hunt down?
  9. Hey Nineteen- Steely Dan Paranoid Android- Radiohead
  10. Weightless fluke, senko or trick worm rigged weedless...frog That's about it
  11. Btw I fished a bunch of my 1 fish spots today...but they turned out to be zero fish spots.
  12. So what you made was Smokey bottle bottom spittle bread pudding? Doesn't have the same ring to it
  13. Well he was asking about leader so I thought it was clear that its was for glides...don't think alot of people use leader for frogs. That's why I responded to @WRB on why he wasn't going straight mono...since that's not preferred for frogs. I didn't clarify because it wasn't my post and didn't know I needed to...looks like most people understood the needs without extra clarification. Maybe your right and I assumed to much.
  14. Really? I made an assumption? The original post said he's gonna throw glides\swimbaits and frogs. Plus I'm the buddy he mentioned in that post...we have been fishing together for almost ten years...I'm the one who suggested what line to get for leader. But yeah your right I assumed.
  15. I've tried several scents over the years with inconclusive results. The only one I use regularly now is JJs magic but that's mostly for the color.
  16. I've dropped reels in for longer than that before then just let them dry with no real issue. You can open it up and service it if you wish. But you'll probably be fine.
  17. He's gonna use the rod for frogging and add a leader for glides...that's why the braid.
  18. This is honestly how most of the ponds around me set up. Certain times of year...prespawn when they move up or when they are schooling on shad late summer...you can find them bunched up. But most of the year around me...because of small cover objects and not having huge populations of bass...most spots only hold a fish or two. This I believe is how the term junk fishing got started. Bryan Thrift has made millions fishing like this-roll up to a brush pile, make 2-3 casts, move to the next one, rinse repeat 85 times a day.
  19. Another one for me Fire on the mountain- Marshall tucker band
  20. Pretty easy premise here..what are some jams you never seem to get sick of? Ill start with a few Into the Mystic-Van Morrison Harvest moon- Neil Young Love street- The Doors
  21. I've got a cheap 1/4 oz popper I bought at Wal-Mart almost 20 years ago. Been through several sets of hooks and split rings...lots of scratches, scrapes and hook rash all over. Not even sure what brand. That stupid thing gets bit.
  22. I've never posted a picture anywhere and have no plans to. Ill take a pic on my phone and send it to my close fishing buddies(2 guys) and that's normally as far as it goes.
  23. I've mentioned on here before I had a run in with a guy and his lady last year where I was on a solid bite and these two roll up and stand back to back with me. The annoyance of this coupled with the covid stress at the time really wore on me until I said a few things I'm not proud of to them and walked away. I was mad how I handled it but also thought about how much worse it could have been. If I was 20 I woulda pushed harder and had the guy gotten riled up I woulda swung on him. Glad that I'm grown up enough now to realize that a fishing spot ain't worth a ride in a cop car.
