There is an unwritten rule that you give anybody fishing a spot space boater or bank. Now there seems to be a misconception that some boaters have that if they spend more money than you that they own the lake. I haven't run into it much but every now and then things get heated. Good thing around here is I know everybody very well so that keeps people pretty honest. Have had a guy talk s$%& and mumble under his breath while trolling by..said hey man I've got no.issue you but if you got something to say then beach the boat and we can get it figured out real quick.

I have a few times. Most recent one was a Garcia Veritas shipped to me with a broken guide. I sent them a picture and within 3-4 days there was a new one on my porch no cost and an email saying keep the other one and fix the guide I'd you want to..its on us. That's pretty good service.

I just got a couple rapala minnows in my recent TW box...silver black and gold...I'm excited to throw them this spring. I used them back in the day and caught fish but stopped using them for some reason. I have a bone jumping minnow in my Amazon cart right now. Never tried one but I've seen you mention them several times so I'm gonna try one.

Anything you have in your arsenal that you don't see or hear much about that gets you alot of bites? For me the past few years its been the Mr twister phenom worm. Yeah some guys on here know about it but where I'm from I've never seen anybody throw one..don't think anybody that's asked me about it has even heard of it.

I caught alot of bass this year on alot of different baits. For me I'd say my most productive baits by season are Spring: 3/8oz war eagle black black blade buzz bait Summer: 1\4oz rebel Pop r with upgraded hooks and Texas rigged zoom mag 2 in June bug or red bug Fall: 1\4 oz red eye shad in various shad patterns Overall hands down: green pumpkin TRD on a 1\16 Berkley half head

Honestly I'd say its one of the most important skills especially when fishing around hard cover. Largemouth are notorious for burying in junk and 3 or 4 inches can mean the difference in a bite or nada. Also when making a long cast to sight fish leading them without spooking them is often important and near impossible without competent casting skill.

Alot of factors have to go into this decision because its your life and nobody here knows you, your personality, your resilience or your wants\needs. I think that balance is necessary to an extent...I believe you need to at least tolerate if not somewhat enjoy or believe in what you do but also need to be able to live a reasonably comfortable lifestyle. No time in life for taking a job you love but end up starving to death..on the flipside what's even worse is having a great paying job that makes you hate your life. All this said your young and have time on your side. Its perfectly acceptable to take a job your unsure of and try it. If you find out it sucks or won't pay your bills switch to something else. I'm not advocating jumping jobs..but there is a difference in having a new job every 6 months and trying a few things out to see what's your style. In my full time career (20 years) I've tried factory work(sucked), meat cutting ( loved it but was poor), working for a contractor( fun but inconsistent) and my current job- lead plant technician at a bio processing plant( we make ethanol and ethanol co products). Is this my final career that ill stick with? I'm not sure but I will say that while there are things I hate like every job this job is challenging, interesting and financially solid.

Just googled it from Olathe lake to my door is 340 miles North. We passed several small ponds yesterday that were completely shut. Sunday morning on my way to work it was 19.

My plan is to never go religious or political... Both are a no win way to tick everybody off.

A yellow bass looks like a small white bass but it has a yellowish tint to the sides. We have several lakes here in Northwest Iowa that are full of them..routinely catch them when I'm up visiting my parents. Good eats!

The way we handle it? Stay inside with the heater cranked, only go out after copious amounts of alcohol and spend the entire winter whining and complaining about how cold it is! Just kidding...........kind of.

I did manage to catch 1 dink today in a different pond over brush in shallow ish..5-6 fow. Sure I caught it on a wax worm fishing for gills so that's cheating!? But most importantly it told me that some bass are still reachable and catch able from shore. Just not 100% sure how.

Last year when covid hit several million more people bought fishing licenses and started fishing. There was nothing else to do with all the lock downs so tons of people that had rarely or never fished started hitting it. Because of that you see alot of dumb rigs...like the hook point covers being left on. Also upside down spinning reel reeling was one I saw a ton of.

Well we are in that time between open water and ice fishing..several ponds are already covered. My past few outings I've skunked for bass. Been throwing the normal cast of characters jerkbait, jig, Ned ..but can't seem to buy a bite. Anybody else struggle this time of year?
