Other Hobbies
Cooking is a huge one for me...I love grilling and smoking meat but also enjoy cooking inside as well. My biggest hobby outside of fishing is whiskey hunting\shopping....I'm sitting somewhere around 65ish bottles right now. Not collecting, all the bottles are open...I just enjoy having lots of options and trying new bottles then sharing them with friends and family. That reminds me I need to track down a bottle of Ardbeg Uigedail soon!

I've heard the inver house is basically the juice from the bottom of a hot dumpster in the summer. Never had it but I think ill steer clear. Johnny Walker red is passable, makes a decent cocktail. I've seen you mention Teachers a few times over the years, also heard several other people say its actually pretty good...may have to check it out. My problem is I go thru streaks where ill only buy budget stuff, then ill turn the other way and only buy bottles in the $50-$100 range. Ill do it with beer to only drink Hamms at $5 for a 6pk of tall boys, then the next week shell out $17 for a 12pk of shiner bock.

House all to myself ( bachelor mode)...
So my lady left this morning for a week long camping trip with her family. Once or twice a year they do this and its been going on for at least the past 8 or 10 years. Now don't get me wrong I love her very much and enjoy spending time with her but a little time apart helps a relationship in my estimation. For me this means I can watch whatever I want, cook whatever I want for supper and go fishing in the evenings if I feel so inclined-or just chill at home and have some whiskey. Not that I can't already do those things but its just nice from time to time to be on your own schedule doing your own thing.

What scotchs are in your regular rotation? I'm more of a bourbon and rye guy but I've started to really like scotch and Irish the past few years as well. Variety is the spice of life!

I've never had the regular cutty, I've heard its pretty bad but everybody's palate is so different. That said the prohibition edition is surprisingly good for $27. The Dewars Japanese smooth is easily the best of the bunch. The Dewars 12 is the most expensive out of the 3 and the one I like the least, nothing really wrong with it but nothing going on either, pretty Meh. That said it was still only $35 so I won't feel bad making cocktails out of it. I've got a Lagavulin 8, Ardbeg On Oa and an aberfeldy 12 in the cabinet, none of the new bottles are at the level of these but again we are talking bottles that are 1\2 or even 1\3 the price. If you see the Japanese smooth id recommend picking it up...should be in the $25-$30 range.

Strange catfish baits...
Definitely odd but it makes sense, I've always heard of cats eating mulberries. Kinda funny you mention grapes, earlier today I read a post where a guy said his buddy baits his trot line with white raisins and kills em. the soap thing kinda weirds me out...I mean I know I'm not a catfish but I just don't get it. this for real? I'm marinating chicken breast chunks in garlic salt to try in the morning.

Strange catfish baits...
So I've fished catfish off and on my entire life. With that I've tried all manner of baits: worms, crawfish, shrimp, frogs and of course live or cut fish of all sorts---never tried grasshoppers but have heard several credible sources ( namely @Bluebasser86 and Doug Stange) that they indeed work very well. Also tried attractor baits like different stink, squeeze and paste baits and chicken liver which I count as an attractor because its really just a bag of blood. But I've heard of several off the wall baits over the years, things like hot dogs or chicken breast marinated in garlic and Jello or chunks of ivory soap. Anybody use any strange or uncommon baits for catfish successfully?

Favorite bourbon in the $40-$50 range?
Went up to my parents house over the weekend and picked up a bottle. Pretty good stuff. No buyers remorse on that. My dad doesn't even really drink anymore and he even had and enjoyed a couple pours. Left the bottle there so we've got something we both like for our next fishing endeavor.

Favorite bourbon in the $40-$50 range?
When I start making 500k a year and can afford them! I need to try the Bowman, don't see it around me very often. Oh I fully understand the volume difference. So yes your right its still.a good buy, just not as good as I was anticipating...especially after the deal my buddy got on 1783.

Favorite bourbon in the $40-$50 range?
Unfortunately that's not the case around here often. My buddy found some 1783 at a liquor store...750 was $24 handle was like $36 so he scooped one up. I said what's the price on wt 101...750 $25 handle $47. No thanks.
