I saw a teenager on Keuka lake earlier this year fishing off one. The lake wasn’t calm and there was boat traffic. I was amazed how good he did even with boat wakes. I laughed and told my partner I’d have been in the water on the first wake. It looked like a blast if only I was that young again.

Fuel lines and bulb are cheap replacements that can cause problems after sitting that long. Start with fresh and if possible non ethanol fuel with additive and let it run awhile to make sure all is good.

☝️☝️☝️☝️ This is great advice… I’ve fished out of Skeeters, Rangers, Tritons, Nitro’s as was mentioned having a dealer a reasonable distance is important. My personal preference is Skeeters and Rangers. But thats not a knock on the others. Good luck on your search.

Pleasure fishing unlike tournament fishing is a time for relaxing and enjoying yourself. Life is too short and sometimes stressful to add the frustration the op has talked about. Maybe I’m just ignorant but if someone keeps annoying me when I’m trying to enjoy one of my pleasures than it’s up to me to remedy the situation. I have a few close friends and my best friend (wife) that I pleasure fish with. It always seems to come back to respect.

You can get a ugly stick combo rod and reel in that price range. I personally use ultra light for trout Pflueger supreme. Trilene 4lb. xl.

Dark side up. That’s usually natural in nature. Looking down the dark blends into the bottom and looking up the lighter blends into the sky. Just like Mother Nature intended for defense and also for predators.
