After a 3 month pause...

Featured Replies

I thought I was well enough to go fishing; had a shoulder replacement.  Launched the boat and threw @ a blowdown and caught a 12" Alabama Bass.  Had to go to the Drs so I quit that day.  The next day I tried it again and caught 2 Alabamas in about 2 hours and couldn't cast anymore because of the pain.  Took a few days off and tried again this time casting with my left hand.  Caught a LM, 2 Alabamas and a cannel cat last evening.  Missed a couple more because of my hookset with my left hand.  BTW I did catch 3 trees and a boat dock also, need more practice with my left hand.  I did learn to wipe my butt left handed.

Here’s to a continued recovery! Trolling might be an option also, although it can get hectic at times contrary to popular belief

Good to hear!  Every great day of fishing starts with a clean butt. ?

Glad you're getting back on the water, doing what you love to do.  May not be back to "normal", but any day on the water is good for the soul!  Keep at it, you can do it!

I had full cast on my right arm, that rendered it useless for 3 months, so I can sympathize with you re: wiping your butt.. Glad your back on the water, take it slow. I've injuries that I didn't let heal, i.e. doing things against Doc's orders, now I'm paying for it.

I hear you.  I had major back surgery on March 1st. Before that, I had so much pain standing that I thought I would be in a wheel chair the rest of my life. I found a wonderful surgeon who performed a quadruple fusion in my lower back.  Six months later, I bought a new bass boat and I am back on the water.  You have to learn to do things differently.  Wiping your butt is just one of the many challenges.  Take it easy and don't try to do too much.  Good Luck!
