TennesseeBASSALLDAY
I live in Middle Tennessee And do a lot of creek fishing. I'm looking for advice on creek fishing and the do's & dont's. I usually use a cheap spinning reel with a med/heavy old school Ugly Stik, on 12 lb flourocarbon. I seem have a little luck with Texas Rigged Craws, and Texas Rigged ribbon tails. I'm searching for an experienced creek fisherman to basically give me tips. Is] how to find them how to catch them once found what baits to use depending on the color of water and season and month . My buddy can throw in 2 casts after I've fished for hours on the spot and score a 4.1 lb smallie in 5 seconds. I'm obviously doing something wrong.

Super User A-Jay Posted August 22, 2021 Super User Share Posted August 22, 2021 Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I say perhaps consider duplicating whatever your bubby is throwing. A-Jay
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted August 22, 2021 Super User Share Posted August 22, 2021 Welcome to the forum. Everyone here agrees that the Tennessee members contribute the best information to the forum ? so it’s always good to get another one. When I was a kid I fished middle Tennessee creeks A LOT. That was a long time ago. I always used 6# line, a cheap spinning reel and a Ugly Stick. My favorite bait was a Rebel Tiny Wee Craw. It will definitely catch a lot of Smallmouth. It’s not as good for bigger fish. This time of year the bigger fish will hit a classic Rapala Floater. A Slider worm will do well. A lot of people catch live minnows and craws to use. That’s your best bet for a big smallie.

GRiver
Hello from the Sunshine State of Fl. I used to live in NC. I did a lot of creek fishing too, I used a Zoom finesse worm, green pumpkin or watermelon. Hellgrammites work great too for smallies, Bass Pro sells them. I Texas rigged with ewg hook, a popper worked good too.
