I've created a monster
Both my kids would want to go with me when I used to go look at the plastics at the Fishermens warehouse. They always ended up with a fistful each. Then my wife would pick them up for the next week when they were done playing.

How Often Do You Clean Your Reels?
Good point, but a reel is not an engine so the comparison is a stretch. I have been servicing all my reels for 25 years. If I do a preventative service before using them, a rinse is all you need. Until the reel tells you different, or you drop it in the sand. (Or salt water dip it)? Then you don't wait for the reel to scream at you. I have never used a new reel with out pre-service. Mainly because I live near salt water.

Best fishing gloves for cold weather?
Good find. What size are you sporting in the pic? Asking because even though my hands are average, I don't like tight gloves.

Is it safe to buy Evinrude?
I read in another forum that BRP gave dealers no warning that they were stopping production. This resulted in Evinrude only dealers being left in a lurch. They had to scramble to get other motors. So now they refuse to help with Evinrude warranty problems. That said, my bud has a 115 on his Whaler for the past year and it's pretty sweet.

Moving again
Well now you can recover and no better place than on the water. I spent 4 hours yesterday going thru yard tools and old landscape lights from jobs over the years. I'm taking the move serious and clearing house. Back at it today. Enjoy the fishing.

How Often Do You Clean Your Reels?
I was told by a pretty smart guy to clean my bearings and level winds with Paslode Electronic Tool cleaner. A lot less toxic than brake cleaner and won't damage plastic. It's made to clean nail guns and the like. Gently blow it out with air and re-oil. I use TS-321. And Bankc nailed it above.

Salt Water help
Bucktails and plastics of various sizes. Maybe some bait rigs to toss out there.

Qualifying for concealed carry
I just shot a Beretta 22 on my trip to Oregon. I was really surprised at how loud it was. Super nice pistol.

Moving again
Well Happy Birthday anyway! I'll be moving in the spring. Will try to sell as much as possible before then. 30 years of stuff needs to come out of the attic. I'll be hoping to travel lighter. Both my brothers moved in the last couple of years. Both of them expressed wonderment at all the crap they moved but didn't need. Good luck on the move.

Do you use google Earth to search the Delta? Kayak fishing.
I think you need to really spend time on the delta to be a good fisherman there. Since you have so many variables, wind, tide, water levels, etc. I learned a whole lot when an old timer invited me to fish stripers one time. He saw I was serious about learning so invited me back for about 10 trips. My confidence level went way up. If black bassing I think Bricker's recommendation to grab some maps is pretty good. It can be frustrating when your range is limited, such as I experienced for years fishing my BassHunter plastic boat. A yak, peddle powered is similar.

Snap Swivel/Hand Tremors
Norman Speed clips have been my 'go to' for 20 years. Squeeze them open and slip on whatever bait or rig you are using. I've never had one fail, but I only catch small fish, lol.

The Twelfth Man
I'll second that. I got cold just watching what he went through.

Pelican 10e - Bass Raider Transom Reinforcement
If it's ok with your Mom, it's OK with me. Enjoy yourself.

Big poaching ring busted
Too bad it takes so long to develop a convictable case. I think they need stop slapping poachers on the wrist and give them a week in a cell to start. A fine is nothing to peeps that can afford thousands for a trip. Letting crimes go because of cultural differences is a pet peeve. Ignorance is not an excuse. I won't say anymore as things may start to sound political.

Cheap Baits for Fall
I'm going to agree with the above as great advice. Though I might change up the grub color a couple of times. Size and line size are my exact choices.

Saltwater Safe?
If you prep your reels with a thin coating of grease on the inside and on the screws you will not have problems. Just get comfortable taking them apart to look.

Johnson 70HP Leaking Fuel
I'm not sure what the problem was yet, lol. Debris in the reeds?

Finesse top water baits
Tiny Torpedo, small spinners, fly's. Pretty much anything small.

Is hair jig still popular?
Wellll, it depends. A month or so ago I was fishing salt water and tied on a big hair jig that caught four monster rockfish as fast as I could reel them in. Then a few weeks later, on a slow fishing day, I whipped out a jar of pork tails that I added to the same hair jigs and the bite picked up. I actually was impressed enough I went and bought some in smaller sizes.

Want to get into making soft plastics
You can have a lot of fun doing it, which should be your reason because there are very few that make money. I haven't taken it past making resin molds and large saltwater swimbaits and squids. But when I pour I spend hours, making way more than I need, lol.

Post a photo a day!
The Delta is magic wherever you go. My latest boat refurbish is so I can anchor up and wake up to fishing.

Show your ride...
I agree, that's a fine set up. Especially that step gap thru the middle seats. I sold my Gregor because I'm too old to climb over bench seats.

Bass guys outfishing Musky guys for Musky
Fish of 10,000 casts? I was told the same about sturgeon fishing in SF Bay. I met a guy that told me to meet him at the launch ramp. We launched and went about a 1/2 mile and my boat died. He told me to anchor up anyway. My first bait I had a hit and miss. He was chastising me about paying attention when I saw the rod dip. I set the hook and played a 56" sturgeon to the boat. 20 minutes from anchor time. Hard to catch, nah. lol. I think if someone shows you the way, any fish is catchable. I was fishing with an off duty guide kind of by accident a few years later. Same thing happened, 15-20 minutes and the fish was boat side. Cheap bait both times.
