  1. Thanks Tom. That is what I was hoping to hear as far as bass. I don't mind being the only guy out fishing for them, lol. I guess I'll just hang on to all my salt water stuff and make a trip or two to the coast for my favorites.
  2. Any members here fish the Klamath Falls area? I will be moving there most likely in a few months. Trading my bass fishing for fly fishing, lol. But my real question...are there bass fishing lakes around? I hate to think taking my bass stuff is unnecessary. I'll already be giving up tons of saltwater stuff. To say nothing of getting a different boat. Looking for real reports from fishers in the area. Thanks for what you know.
  3. I like the Spro's, but curious what YOU are using.
  4. I have to stop coming on here. I saw spinnerbait in the title and that reminded me I haven't looked for Titanium spinners for awhile. BAM, $43.00 spent. My favorite spinnerbait of all time is an old Stanley 3/16th's ounce from way, way back. With a twin tail grub trailer that I bought and stashed a bunch of too. Small, bulky profile. The small mouth would beat them to death in a few hours. So now, Titanium wired baits.
  5. My first boat trailer had a bit of rust. It broke at the ramp when I was pulling out, lol. We jammed a big chunk of driftwood in there somehow and nursed it back home for repair. I think the rust was holding it together. (30 years ago).
  6. That was good for one quarter, then it was no competition. Brady got MVP for making that team believe they could do it. Having Gronk didn't hurt either. Chiefs tight end had a rough day.
  7. Bulldog, you forgot to mention the pythons.
  8. Wow Cheezy, never heard of such a thing. But I'm open to anything. I get to start cooking everyday pretty soon. The wife and I are retiring in different states. She is a rapid production type cook, can put a meal out in 30 minutes. As far as dishes, I actually like to cook things slower so I have plenty of time to clean up as I go. Thanks to the person that reminded me of jambalaya, I have a killer crock pot version if I can find the recipe.
  9. Captain, I kept waiting for an alligator to appear in the story. I wish the good Lord would give us an opportunity to just go back in time once, for a week to fish again with an old friend. Gosh I miss my old mentor.
  10. Yep, and every one feels like a big one, at least for the first few seconds. My wife is not keen on me going alone anymore so who knows when I'll feel the hit again.
  11. Definitely an old favorite. I love fishing in the dark and listening to the Jitterbug just gurgling along. I stop it as if it was a real frog stopping for a quick look about, then start it up again. Usually gets nailed about then.
  12. I ran into a couple of bullies in my freshman year. They liked to dump kids in the big 55gal open trash cans. They pounced on me one day. I kicked one purely by accident during the struggle and he dropped my feet as he folded up next to his pockets. Never was noticed by them again. 29 years later I take my 1954 pick up in for seat upholstery and lo and behold there's Mr. Pockets. I related the story to him and we just laughed about it. And then he gave me a huge discount. We ended up doing a bit of business over the years. People change.
  13. I was born in Guelph, does that count? Welcome.
  14. Well, I'm gonna pull for the old guy.
  15. Ok I'll do the back-from-the-dead-thread. I have lots of Shimano Bantam Mags, Mitchell SpiderCast 3000, Quantum Energy baicasters, white Stradics, Penn 930's for trolling for trout, etc. None younger than 20 years old, and all working like new. Maintenance baby! I haven't mentioned saltwater stuff or my 1971 Boston Whaler or HobieCat 60 I fish out of. Some collector is going to score when I go.
  16. Ok, I'll go with Blk/silver or ghost shad in the suspending Husky jerks in about 3-1/2" size. I also have some of the countdown to try this year.
  17. I don't remember that one, but if you can't find it, I would match up the jig/hook size, locate the rubber skirts, tie them on and add the little orange fuzz ball. It kind of reminds me of a 'Bitsy bug' jig by Strike King?
  18. To be honest I think either would work. I love copper colored lures for some reason. My retirement choices are to Oregon where my two brothers moved, or NorCal coastal area with access to an ocean launch.
  19. I can relate...my sister stored my cards for years at her place. I had complete sets of 1968 Topps. She let one of her friends go thru them to advise her if any were 'worth' anything. I didn't find out until years later. I had a cold feeling as I went to check out the cards. He had stolen a lot of high dollar cards. He only missed the Nolan Ryan rookie card. I still have it. (And the remainder of the rest of'68).
  20. Nice work Jiggy! I have 1/2 a duffle bag full of plastics I have poured but I have never made a hard bait. (With the exception of poured lead heads). After I get moved to my new retirement location I may copy your efforts. Thanks for posting up.
  21. One of the kinder souls to be found. Brave too.
  22. Wishing you the best.
  23. Big hands, you just described my saltwater rockfishing technique when there is no current and the boat is hanging in one spot. I can still tease up some bites on a slow day. I just tap, tap, tap until I get some action. I move the thing so little it looks like I'm dead sticking.
  24. Yes to both versions. I used to use them as they came with the trebles but hanging up was common. When the version with hooks at the top eye came along I switched. I use a two hook version tied with heavy braid. The tube dressing may or may not be required, but consider the toothiness of the target fish or the chance of contacting the bottom and fraying the braid. It would only take a moment to add the tubing. (Which you did). You can use heat shrink tubing too. I bought a bunch of used 10oz and up jigs recently for a song. They have rusty trebles mostly so I will be changing them out. Let me know how you make out.
  25. I forgot to mention how troublesome they become to grip with wet or slimy hands. They make a larger size I use on jumbo baits. Hey 5/0 you live next door to me.
