  1. In a sparsely populated section of town a pair of geese had made a Nest. So cute and only a few feet from the sidewalk. Cant tell you how many times an unwary pedestrian lost their faculties when those geese charged. I worked out of a derelict home that we used as a construction office and watched these geese for a few weeks terrorize the community. PS - in ancient times pre Republican Rome was saved by a warning from the city geese and afterwards they were more revered than the dogs who hadn't barked.
  2. On my river system the water is still near freezing but the tributaries will be much warmer. I'll be found at some creek mouth in about 2 weeks or so.
  3. Or pike, Almost anything the looks like a baitfish and more than a few that dont Soft plastic paddletail swimbait
  4. Half a white yum dinger on a ned has worked, sometimes unintentionally. I'm normally sight fishing streams for roaming bass but on occasion it'll cross a bed. I always throw at contracting bottom colours so its inevitable.
  5. 3 turn Uni and I dont cinch it tight to the eye. Up to 50# mono
  6. I believe the larger smallies get moving to the hunt quicker/sooner than the young bass. Two reasons; 1. They have experience enough to be better hunters, ergo they go to the prime ambush spots on the best structure and hold onto it longer. 2. They are bigger and out swim other bass when needed, ergo they can take the prime spots when most advantageous. And they may have forgotten last years lures, or so I believe.
  7. The tight wabble, it's like a belly dancer to an old goat herder.
  8. I stumbled on his strap jig video about 6 yrs ago but I was very new to youtube and had no knowledge of subscriptions or how to follow a provider. I found another of his videos last november and realised he was that guy! I dont jive with alot of the advice/ content I see on youtube but Jeff Little has great videos. The best.
  9. I often wet wade with a 6ft mlf spinning rod and a 4pc - 9' 5wt fly rod. There is alot of water I can cover with them.
  10. I prefer a shorter rod for trout because I want accuracy above all else. Rod should be 6 ft - 6.5 ft long with a fast tip in med light or light. Reel doesn't need alot of drag, just very smooth drag and I prefer a bigger reel for higher line pickup when I'm on a river. Trout are smarter and more timid than bass. Good luck.
  11. I use my waist pack and a flex cord.
  12. I make alot of my jigs so I probably have 10 yrs worth. I'd run out of cranks and jerks in 2yrs. Plastics are maybe 3yrs worth. I think I'd run out of mono and fluoro during one season.
  13. Craw trailers after the water is 45°F Flukes and trick worms below 45°F And neds at any temp
  14. I've had 6# fluoro just explode from the weight of a spinner bait being given a hard stop at the end of a cast. d**n fluorocarbon
  15. So, Were you using fluoro or mono?
  16. I've tried this rig before but not with alot of sucsess. I should try it again
  17. I think the Family Guy video is just a small clip of a much larger series of videos being suppressed by the government. I've heard it predicts the end of American democracy.
  18. Those bass have such a small brain its best not to employ logic or reason when you fish
  19. .To add to the knowledge base, marabou can be bought many ways. As part of a full patch or in small bags. They come and are labeled as strung, blood quill or select and wooly bugger. Blood quills arevthe best for palmering. Most often you stack the tails and palmer the body. If you want classic minnow colours tones then you have to stack them as a rule. Always have the densest area be at the head, use tapering for a better swim. Edit - smalljaw is the forum master of marabou he has a youtube channel worth watching.
  20. At 50 F the crawjigs come out.
  21. 1/16 oz bass streamers in current seams and rocky shelves. Jerkbaits, flukes and 1/8 oz hair jigs into any pools.
  22. Xrap Looks good fast or slow
  23. Jeez, I've been thinking xfast is better. I tried a mod/fast tip (fenwick hmg) and it didn't feel right. I'm normally using a MLF stC Triumph. I've always heard they were both slower than most others.
