I use light wire hooks and they're sharp and the rod is a 6' mlf and its enough for the hooks. I normally lose them on the jump during a headshake so I'm wondering if need to look at the tip speed.

I have played with that TTU711MLFS. It's a nice rod but I liked the Shimano Curado CDS70LA even more in hand. I need alot of backbone on a fairy wand.

Sight fishing 3# smallies is the most fun thing I will do in the spring.

I've been 90% spinning/10% fly since before dirt. I've never tried baitcasters so I'm a poor judge. So be it. I'm happily ignorant of my folly, as long as you're satisfied with that. Enjoy your 'cup of tea'

This spring I will again attempt to lure a group of prespawn smallies to bite my jigs. This is an exceptional (for me) group of about six to ten 3# plus smallies in a chain of 6ft dp pools next to a rock shelter that is a out 300 yds long and about 45 ft wide with lots of tree cover and about 2 miles down stream it empties into a large river. I have been on these resident smallies for a few years and they are the most violent fish I can catch. Anyway I've tired of hooking and losing them and I'm wondering if I'm using the right tackle for the job. My lure of choice is a 1/16 - 3/16 oz jig and letting it crawl bottom. I also throw weightless flys on a carolina rig. Lengths of 6.5' to 7.5' but should it be an XF tip? I lose most of these bruits on their 2nd jump after they've opened up some space on the hook. The only ones I can land are hooked on the top of the nose so I can turn them. Budget for the rod is $250

I'm a huge fan of a sparsely tied jig with bits of 3 and 4 materials. Usually bucktail, deer body, marabou, round rubber, silicone, dubbing. It's all good if left to sit and work its magic in the cold soft water

Little island just about as far out as I could accurately cast a 110 whopper plopper on a 7ft mf Avid. Unbenounced to me there was a deep trough next to this island with a monster in wait. I'm sure he saw it coming cause it barely hit the water and he snatched it up with intent. Wow, what a fast fish. He was fat and all of 22" and he knew every piece of rebar and jagged rock edge available to him.

As the captain of the boat I'm buying another BG3000 Edit - actually I fish from the bank but I'm also rough on my equipment. I've lost control of more than one rod over a 10 ft drop to rocks.

My thoughts on the gamechanger.... Is it worth the time and cost? Am I more efficient with spinning and Kietech fat impact? Is it just too much fun to miss?

Arent all the game changers an investment in time? I've only started playing around with sequential shank lengths so I'm not sure, but I know every shanks adds time to my ties and the game changer gas alot more shanks than I normally try. They must be worth it.

The gamechanger craw is supposed to be phenomenal as well

150 to 200 times. I live 10 minutes from a decent smallie river. There are literally hundreds of places to bank or canoe fish around me.

Years ago I made two 3/8 oz w/ willow blades & two 1/4 oz w/ colorado. Beautiful shad skirts on them and everything. I lost three of them on three consecutive casts spaced out over two days. I swore off fluorocarbon and spinnerbaits right there. Until I tried it again last summer because of a thread on Bass Resource.
