  1. Definitely agree- The main thing I'm looking at when buying a jig is the head shape and line tie see if it's going to work in multiple situations...
  2. Can you explain this? For me it’s about finding ways I want to fish and eliminating variables. It may not give me the best option on a day to day basis, but it’s my best option to be consistent regularly. ie- a jig might not be the best option all the time, but for my style of fishing I’ll be more productive over the course of a season if I threw a jig all the time as opposed to trying to figure out if it’s a jig they want, a finesse presentation, or a moving bait on a daily basis....
  3. This is kind of funny because my main weapon is a brush jig- and I love flipping it to a target- but I catch way more fish swimming it out of there- either right away or after it's sat still for a bit- than at any other point during the cast. I also catch quite a few casting and swimming between targets....
  4. Never happens...
  5. I didn't go quite to the extreme you did, but midway through last season I started fishing a jig almost exclusively. I kept a frog nearby, and a bladed jig when I wanted some noise, but they started to see very little use. What changed for me? I thought back to a lot of my early season catches- I caught fish just as consistently on jigs as I did anything else, but they were always bigger. Another big plus for me- with the right jig I don't need to carry a finesse bait, a flippin bait, a moving bait, etc- the jig does it all. I consistently caught fish pitching in cover, swimming everytwhere in the water column, and crawling along the bottom and oftentimes all 3 in the same spot.
  6. I agree- I can't remember who I was listening to but the finesse no splash cast has it's place, especially when they are finick or it's dead calm out. But if they are aggressive or there's a lot of wind/waves sometimes a big splash landing can be the ticket...
  7. I was wading for trout once... made my way about a mile upstream, fished down and back and returned to the car as it got dark. I'm about a two mile hike straight uphill to a place where I even get cell service, and I realize my keys aren't in my pocket. I go back upstream, cross in the two spots I crossed, and I actually spotted them- my car keys, wedged in between two rocks in about a foot of water..... talk about once in a lifetime..
  8. Feels like a pretty easy self defense call imo
  9. I want to throw a 1/4 oz head with a 4.5” hollow body swimbait, but I’d like to rig it internally. I know strike king has a head but they don’t have it that light- any other recommendations?
  10. Shouldn’t stop at tournaments
  11. Even the Senko guys laugh at people who troll
  12. Nah- never catch anything on white
  13. Fine Kent- I'll bite. Order just placed- I've got some BlueCraws already but I'm thinking of possible pairing it up with moon juice! I've been watching all of the jig videos I can find on BassU and they all say the same thing- You need two colors- black/blue and green pumpkin and most say they will throw the black/blue trailer on the GP jig and vice versa quite often. It got me thinking that I should have a mostly green pumpkin jig with a little bit of black/blue mixed in.

  15. I've never cleaned a reel before.... but it does annoy me when braid stains my reels....
  16. What is the best skirt material to buy for tying your own jigs and whatnot? I only need 3 basic colors but I want the best. I ask because I recently picked up a Outkast Stealth jig and it has a “micro cut” skirt that feels a lot different than any other jig I own so I’d like to find something like that to tie my own with.
  17. IMO anything under 3.3 is too small for targeting bass. The 2.8" would be a good crappie grub though I think....
  18. I need to be efficient with my time on the water- so I'll pay more for certain things. Does it help me catch more fish? Probably not, but it gives me confidence and I know for a fact that I'm not missing out on anything. When I say that I'm referring to a Jackhammer over an original chatterbait, or strike king/keitech soft plastics over other offerings. I saw it mentioned a couple times but I won't do it for frogs- all I need is a horny toad or poppin pad crasher.
  19. Don't want to hijack the thread but just curious- I spent most of the end of last year throwing the dredge brush jig. I don't do a lot of grass, it's mostly brush and rocks for me. Is the G2 basically a cross between a football and brush jig or am I reading the description wrong?
  20. The Feider Stealth Tungsten jig has a smaller but heavy wire hook. When trimmed up it’s a really compact profile with a strong hook
  21. If I ever fish in Florida I'm bringing a gun- if I see one moving toward me from any distance away he's getting a couple of pops.
  22. Interesting.... I do some creek trout fishing and have been looking for artificials to use. Think that hook would be small enough for some trout in the 13-17" range? We typically use pretty small hooks with crawlers or live hellgrammites.
