  1. Depends on conditions. This weekend I started out with a flipping jig and I kept that rod in my hand majority of the time because it just produced. I’m looking for the really nasty shallow shaded cover right now
  2. I have an order of Zorro long arms coming in. They work
  3. Just thought maybe that if you switched to a thinner line or fluoro from braid or mono recently that it could be causing your squarebills to dive deeper and wedge themselves more in the rocks idk honestly
  4. Which is better for pitching? Short or long? Was watching a video one day and the angler claimed that longer rods make more accurate pitches and flips(?). Thought that shorter rods were more accurate regardless. What say you BR?
  5. Folgers for me Yes, yes it is
  6. I run braid to mono leader on swimming worms right now. Around 30lb braid to 12lb mono. I think there's several setups that could work for swimming worms depending on application. For spinnerbaits I run 15lb big game For senkos I run 15lb braid to 12lb fluoro on a spinning setup. Can't help you with swimbait/TRD setup.
  7. Hey ya'll, Would just like to leave a positive review for the REVO Winch Gen 4. I posted photos of the reel along with the spinnerbait rod that I got to complement it. Let me just say that I am very pleased with both the rod and reel but the winch is simply amazing. The cranking power and ability of this reel to control the amount of vibration that is transmitted to your hand is awesome. I cast 1/2oz spinners on this reel with the break completely off and the tension quite low unless the wind is particularly troublesome that day and can get incredible casting distance as a result with minimal backlash. It is not particularly huge either. I can palm it quite comfortably. What is large about the reel is the handle, but that allows for more effortless reeling. I'm just very pleased with this reel and figured that I would be based on the reviews of others on here. We will see about longevity of the reel but I plan on maintaining it well. If you are thinking of getting a low speed reel with a little more power and control, this is the one!
  8. Good to hear great things about Yo Zuri. Yeah…. About the only time I plan on trying to run fluoro is with jigs and some cases with worms as a leader. Mono is the deal for me otherwise.
  9. He also said that if you are throwing a round bend hook on a lipless, you are shooting yourself in the foot. I just don’t know why it would make that big of a dif?
  10. And a lot of people that I’ve met that aren’t into fishing are very curious about it when they find out that it’s my hobby. It’s just an intriguing sport, most people view it as relaxation but it can be more than that too. can’t tell you how many people have asked to come fishing with me back at college
  11. Thanks ya’ll, I’m out of the area now but nonetheless really appreciate the responses. MIbassyaker, I was on a couple private ponds that my family knew people on. now if only I could figure out these Oneida Lake fish ?
  12. This was so interesting I have to share. https://igfa.org/2021/02/26/hearing-in-the-underwater-world/
  13. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions so far. I’m getting the sense that I should experiment and see what works. If it rolls and gets bites, good. If I find a way to make it not roll and it works better, great.
  14. Thanks. I thought you want the tail to point down? So it catches more water in case close to the surface
  15. Oh are you swimming them on a shaky head? I never would have thought of that.
  16. Nice bass. Those bigger speed worms seem to get big bites for me. I have some “fish stories” from years ago but won’t tell those lol. Bigger bites not the case with bigger ribbontails IME
  17. Thanks for asking. I am using speed worms/burner worms on a straight retrieve. The 7” magnum sized ones, primarily. more information: I’ve used bullet sinkers ranging from 1/8oz up to 1/4oz. Sometimes weightless. Still have this problem to varying degrees
  18. Hey ya’ll, I have been throwing swimming worms recently with mild success. When I retrieve these worms, they will often roll and twist on the retrieve. I have tried rigging straighter, using different hook sizes, and then switching to a twistlock. I have used EWG’s and twistlocks. I read online that EWG’s can cause this spin so I tried the twistlock but didn’t get any better results. how do you manage these issues while swimming a worm?
  19. Absolutely. I would be fishing right now but got other requirements keeping me from it. I have had 6 hour days, barely caught anything, especially in the winter, but still come back excited to go back out again. If anything it motivates me to figure the fish out. I'm at the point now where I don't game, watch tv, or anything else. Haven't played an actual video game aside from mobile in months. I just fish or prepare for fishing. Literally forgot my kayak paddle yesterday ?. Really funny you mentioned that
  20. :). I seem to have more consistent, not necessarily better, luck with spinnerbaits when it is dark out rather than topwater.
  21. I’d be curious to hear people’s opinion on this too. Torque or cranking power is a reason I like slower reels
  22. Could you elaborate on how red flake makes soft plastics more effective? Thank you for the other info
  23. So a circuit board lip is just better? Lol. Been a while since I’ve tossed crankbaits but curious
  24. I’ve seen Gambler lures either scented with their BITE scent which I think is the garlic and the Bang Crawfish and Shad scent. I will be experimenting around with Gambler products as they were highly recommended to me. Big deal in Florida
