  1. People have just learned to stop asking me that question ?. But I’ve had good company for most of those weekends ?
  2. I remember you telling a story about that man on an old post. Was one of my favorites. I have it saved
  3. Nice fish!!
  4. Well so far my Revo Winch is the bomb diggity so I sure hope it stays that way. It’s literally awesome right now. Everything I want in a reel for spinnerbaits
  5. That’s awesome
  6. Like those fluted blades ?
  7. Murphy was mentioned a couple times in this thread, looks like. Somewhere in his book he mentions that if you are not willing to use live bait, you are letting your pride/stubbornness get in the way of you experiencing the full extent of this sport. He’s right on, IMO. Live bait does not always work better than artificial. I experienced this over the summer between using live bluegill and artficials. Letting what’s popular and what the market wants you to think is acceptable to use in this sport influence what you are willing to use is not free thinking. Just the opposite Yeah I need to try some night crawlers too ?
  8. ^ Those are the only ones I’ve found and I like them. But… don’t feel limited to store-bought ones. 1 pair of pliers and some spare blades and you can make anything you want. Just be careful if dealing with thin wire.
  9. Actually wait wait. I think I missed the point of your post @Captain Phil. Those are all the blades you’ve used through on spinnerbaits? I can only hope to achieve that. My bad. I do like my blade box though
  10. And I don't see too many people throwing mag willows/turtleback blades either. With so many combinations, seems easy to understand why spinnerbaits have been around for a long time
  11. I've seen other posts you've made about the twin spins. I love it. But there aren't any more of those... ?. There are some close things on Tackle Warehouse but they don't have the rotating wire arm you talked about. Where the blades would fold up on the drop. Edit: Or maybe that's the clevis you're talking about. Is there a way to make this with the modern twin spins on the market?
  12. Ya'll are reminding me that I need to get out of my current comfort zone. Been retrieving my spinnerbaits up in sight most of the time but I know that slow rolling deep is one of those best ways to catch big momma. It's how I got mine Good post and can't wait to see more comments about this. Keep the spinnerbait discussion going! It's fall time! WOO!
  13. Yeah, what Team9Nine said. All I'll say about Indiana blades is I like em. I fished a whole lot of single colorado's but when fish stopped biting that, it was time to change it up. Had one of my best spinnerbait days ever on a single indiana
  14. I just took a look at both of those baits. Looks like a really cool combination. The california color looks similar to Zoom's California 420 color. I think that color is sorta a "thing" and I used to throw that color a whole lot in the summer when I was fishing more texas rigs. Nice. Thanks for your comment
  15. Oh, trust me, I can ? I've got some kind of curse on me with flukes. Never could catch a fish with em. Hardly caught any on jerkbaits either.
  16. Did we have like the same weekend or something? Lol. Yes I had small fish choke the big swimbait and I had a big crappie choke the double indiana with the 3.5. Wish I had my phone on me for that trip; I forgot it. I threw the big spinnerbait because of some "boat ramp talk" I heard. Big baits power fishing in the fall produced some big bites for people in my area. Thanks for your comment
  17. Hey ya'll, So one time recently when I was at Dick's picking up some essentials I spotted some yum pulse swimbaits. I remembered these were the swimbaits that Christie used on the back of his spinnerbait in the 2016 Classic to get runner-up. I really liked the design and price of these swimbaits so I picked em up to try out. Fast forward to yesterday, and the fish wouldn't touch my usual compact single colorado spinnerbaits. But they wouldn't touch top water and they weren't biting my texas rig all that well either so I figured given the season, they were still mid-depth chasing baitfish. The answer was a different spinnerbait for me. Dug through my spinnerbait box and found a white covert double indiana. Changed the back blade out to silver and stuck a 3.5" blue pearl pulse on the back. They loved this spinnerbait, and, as commonly associated with YUM, the durability of the swimbait was great. Only had to change once after a lot of fish. Later in the day I threw a big 3/4 oz single colorado with the 4.5" size swimbait and that produced too. So, give the pulse a try on a spinnerbait. Why did I try the swimbait? I wanted a way to get my spinnerbait to run slower. I almost always do better with spinnerbaits when they are retrieved slow, and the swimbait provided some buoyancy and added drag. The smaller size didn't appear to affect the spinnerbait's ability to track straight either. I like it. Is it some magic combination? Probably not. But I liked the results this weekend and it could become a staple for me.
  18. I fished an awful lot this weekend. Something like 18 hours. Caught quite a few fish, spinnerbaits were the best today, buzzbaits were the best Saturday. At one point I had them going good on a really large 3/4oz spinner with a #6 blade and a 4" swimbait trailer. Expected anything that bit it to be big, but that was not the case lol. No bigguns but was very fun. Here's a few fish from the weekend including one got on a t-rig.
  19. Here she is right before I fished with it today. Paint long since gone, blade starting to get scratched up. She's a beaut
  20. Got one buzzbait that's an absolute champ for me. Caught many many fish and still going strong. It's a Nichols Reflex. Far outproduces all my other buzzbaits. Can share a picture of it after fishing this weekend; it's in my truck right now. Its screech and squealing is downright eerie. Sounds like something is dying.
  21. Yeah you're not alone brother. I was on quite a good buzzbait bite all day today. No big ones though. I mention this because I saw fish blowing up in the lily pads and outside. Throw a buzzbait on the outside, get bit. Throw a frog inside, get skunked. No idea why this was the case. At one time I threw a frog to a certain patch and right after I finished my retrieve past there, a fish blew up on the surface where I had worked my frog. I was insulted. Lol. Edit: Maybe it's a profile thing? They just aren't keying in on the wide body of a frog right now? Lots to ponder
