Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Magnum rage bugs, magnum uv speed worms, siebert shot caller swim jigs If you buy a shot caller jig, be aware you are getting a jig with a lighter wire. P.S I bought some spinnerbaits recently too. Love to see A-Jay’s. He is more generous than I am these days in showing what spinnerbaits I’m buying.

Swim Jigs over 1/2oz
Hey swim jigs are not really being sold in weights greater than 1/2oz. Now a jig is a jig so nobody really cares. We can just use our other jigs and let them identify as something else i.e “You are a swim jig; you can be whatever you want to be.” But really what I’m wondering is if people use “swim” jigs over 1/2oz and what’s your deal on when you like to use them?

I rushed to pack, went the wrong way to the lake, and forgot the kayak seat. Too beat up to fish right now. Leaving until another day

When can I start fishing?
Most luck I’ve had in small bodies of water when water is 40 or below is with a small 1/4oz lipless crankbait. It gets really tough at those temps

I think it was Lake Murray last year where some competitors would not even make a cast until they spotted bass blowing on herring to achieve the 2-3sec window

Best Budget Spinner Bait
I found the same thing when I purchased frames from Nichols. The benefit, however, was that I built them with hildebrandt blades and sampo swivels and my choice of skirt for about $10 a piece. The highest end components possible

Liking the new Tackle Warehouse site now.
Still prefer the old site but I am now in a place with A-Jay where I don’t really care what it looks like, just keep the discounts and sales going and keep the shipping times reasonable. They’ve been doing great recently.

Getting through a slump
Usually if I am not catching anything for extended periods of time, I trend towards thinking that I am fishing nowhere around where good numbers of bass are. I'll switch up my areas and approach until I get bit. Same goes for if I am only catching small ones.

Wind...how do you factor it in?
You know that thing where you cast perpendicular to the wind with a bottom bouncing bait expecting to catch something? Yeah that thing doesn’t work for me. If the wind is 13-17mph, I really should just Jimmy Houston it because in the back of my mind I know I can catch a few on spinnerbaits and they might be really nice fish.

Best Budget Spinner Bait
I don’t consider Coverts a budget spinnerbait but they are nonetheless some of my favorites. Slap a sampo swivel on one and they are machines.

Dirty Jigs
I believe Dirty Jigs was recently acquired by Nichols Lures, which could be the reason for the discrepancy Dirty Jigs makes good jigs. Siebert’s makes good jigs. Oldham makes good jigs. E-factor makes good jigs. Lots of great options.

Finding the big one in the pond
If the environment/ecosystem/*insert some scientific word* is not right, larger bass will not be there. I like plastics and swim jigs in small ponds along with some other things. If the forage is larger, a larger bodied plastic creature or worm may help Ponds are not rocket science. Easy places to fish.

Best Budget Spinner Bait
Member @Catt often recommends relatively inexpensive spinnerbaits. Humdinger, Stanley, and Johnson Beetle Spins are all great options. I have expensive taste in spinnerbaits $10+
