The larger hook or trailer hook is going to pull the spinnerbait down from the bend. How much depends on the added weight, of course. To maintain the same running angle, then, you need to marginally increase the size of blades or marginally increase the speed of retrieve, as two options. All of this is fine. But it’s worth thinking about

Pat Cullen fishes at night. Not a bad idea to use a trailer hook then. Bass just have a harder time fully getting something that’s moving. They still can get it, don’t get me wrong, but they are a little more challenged Is anybody thinking about how having a larger hook or utilizing a trailer hook is influencing how the spinnerbait runs?

I think a large part of this trailer hook/ longer hook debate may be driven by different styles of hook setting. Myself, I want to ensure that a bass has my spinnerbait engulfed before I swing. A tick or sudden misdirection is not enough reason for me to swing. Unless that tick is followed by some mushiness or sudden loss of feeling of the blades. Then I swing, but that’s a different sensation entirely. Now, I do think there are bass that are going to just slap the bait or not really commit to it. Y’all that throw trailer hooks and y’all that have a hair trigger when you set the hook, you may bring that fish in. I will not. I’m okay with that, because not jumping the gun, in my mind, helps me hook, hold, and land the fish better that truly commit to the spinnerbait. We each are going to miss fish. That’s part of fishing. But the fish we each miss will be for differing reasons, and I will be able to throw my spinnerbait in places that those throwing trailer hooks will feel mighty uncomfortable about. You will lose some fish because they may more often be poorly hooked. I will lose fish because I didn’t attempt to hook a fish that just slapped the bait, rather than try to eat it. I know very well by now the type of sensations I’m feeling for when I’m fishing a spinnerbait that mean a fish has eaten my bait and is in position for me to swing. Sometimes that sensation comes so fast that there isn’t much of a pause at all. But I’m still feeling for it

Okay y’all bad camera and bag lighting but here are Mr. Oldham’s trailer hitch jigs. I ordered these literally specific to Stillhouse. I figured that between these colors, I suspect there is one that will really work good for me. I think it may be the one with a splash of chartreuse. To Mr. Oldham’s credit, the jigs arrived very fast. I just didn’t realize they went to a rather unusual delivery location and I just figured out where they were.

I like smaller, stout hooks on my spinnerbaits. These hook more fish, hold more fish, and snag less than spinnerbaits with obnoxiously large or long hooks. I do not believe there is any need for a trailer hook, unless you are fishing around spawning fish. I do like trailers sometimes, and admittedly more than I have in the past. Growing very fond of utilizing a zoom split tail trailer

That’s pretty good! Nice I went the manual route, decided on that early after moving to TX. I own a shopvac and hose system and stuff for washing the car so I do everything by hand. The best solution I have found for cleaning the interior of the truck, aside from vacuuming, is a mixture of dish soap and water applied using a scrubber. Particularly because my interior is leather. It is easy on the leather and seems to clean most surfaces well

I usually have better luck playing a fish. Particularly on some of my more forgiving rods. But if the fish is already wrapped up in something, there isn’t any sense in trying to play them then. Have to get them out.

Hey y’all, I am not really a clean freak. Far from it. But if there’s one thing I cannot stand being dirty, it’s my truck. I do not allow it to go more than two weeks without being cleaned, and I’m thinking about moving that to weekly. I just thoroughly appreciate having a clean, good smelling vehicle. Is there anything in your life that you must have clean?

Hey y'all, Uh, is this a thing? Y'all find it productive? I once watched a video with richard gene where he took the tail of a trick worm and scissored it to split it and claimed it'll catch the heck out of bass. My bass appear to now turn their noses up at any worms that paddles or ribbons or moves aggressively in general so I'm wondering if this switch could help me catch some more bass.

That's surprising too actually. Rocks are my favorite cover to fish jigs in. Sometimes it's a little harder to work them from the bank though, so I hear ya

How is there so many people saying chatterbait??!!! Mobasser added into the mix. What is the world coming to? I mean, yeah, spinnerbaits are better, but holy cow, never catching a fish on a chatter? That's wild. I bought maybe 4 jackhammers a long time ago. Worked good when I used them, then I lost all but one of them. If you want to know how to quickly lose $50 in chatterbaits, I can offer expert advice. Just fish from the bank, fish them on the bottom like a jig, and make sure you are around riprap or timber. I can't make this stuff up ?

Considering getting this with 15% TW discount Lot of options to consider but this is one of them. I friggin love Falcon Head Turners, dude. Maybe I need a nice reel to treat it with? Idk. But every time I'm casting or fighting a fish with the head turner I think "this rod is the real deal."
