Learning to Carolina Rig In Tough Conditions
If they don’t want a Carolina rig, don’t use it. C-rig is not rocket science and you aren’t doing anything wrong. The fish don’t want it. Mud bottoms I prefer lighter weights. Goes for t-rigs and jigs.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I got my megabass popmaxs today. Will work on getting some photos up. They look a lot different than photos on tackle warehouse. Still like the look of em, and those hooks are crazy sharp

How much do weather/illumination conditions affect when you go fishing?
Things that keep me off the water: - >18mph winds - <10 degrees - Lightning I've fished a good bit when it is in 20-40 degrees outside. It can be productive. Also, the Hobie Outback that I purchased in March is a dang shark. Wind does not scare me, unless, like I said, it is 18mph+. Otherwise, bring it on. I did fish two days this season in 17mph.

Jigs on braid- fluoro leader or no?
@MickD plus, fluoro is better on sensitivity with slack in the line. Braid good sensitivity when line is tight. There are good arguments to use any line or combination of lines. I prefer straight mono or fluoro for jigs.

Nah it would not go a few pounds. Probably 2 at most, maybe just under. Bit a squarebill crankbait in like 2 feet of water. Surprised the heck out of me. I was kinda messing around. First time throwing a squarebill in 5 years

Help me find a balsa squarebill
Just a balsa squarebill? The rapala BX brat is a balsa with a plastic shell. $10 a piece. They catch fish pretty good

Insomnia
Little offhand comment too. Some Encouragement for trying to find ways to get more sleep, and also some encouragement for those who aren’t able to get enough. First, encouragement to get more sleep. Chess is the best activity I have ever found for actually measuring how my brain performs on different levels of sleep. I can tell you, the difference is great. No matter how hard I try, I cannot play really good chess on 4-5 hours of sleep. It just ain’t happening. But, I will still play adequately. Here’s where the encouragement for folks who can’t get adequate sleep is. The human body is capable of some amazing things. We can perform at an adequate level on abysmal sleep. Sooner or later, we will need it, but we are okay if we have to push through. Y’all with sleep struggles, we’re sorry and we sympathize/empathize with you, but y’all will continue to crush life anyway im going to sleep now

Insomnia
So far so good, but I am sorry to hear about your struggles. You're not alone. I have been trying to get more sleep recently. Seems like my body requires a lot of it. Some days it seems like I can never get enough. Melatonin is helpful when I want to adjust my sleep schedule. Otherwise I avoid it and try to get myself to sleep naturally. I avoid alcohol when I want to feel more rested and overall get better sleep. That's more often, right now. My parents, in particular my Dad, have trouble sleeping. I'm pretty sure my Dad runs off an average of 4-5 hours a night, maybe less. If you met him, you'd never know it.

Searching for a better worm hook
Mustad grip pins do work good. They are a thicker gauge hook than gamakatsu’s, so I like to carry both. That is a cool tip though! I might just try it

can you please look at this Navionic chart?
look good to me. Sure, check it out. Yall remember the navionics photo thread I started a bit back? I went looking over there. There were two boats sitting on different parts of the structure, but graphing the area, it looked like the Dead Sea, unless you moved all the way out to 35ft. Weird

Didn’t take my last trip too serious because I had some problems going on but figured I’d share that I got a smallmouth. Also found an underwater bridge and discovered that walking a spook ain’t too hard

I tried Tiffany this afternoon. My phone took a plunge into the lake about 45min in, which canceled my trip, but I caught a fish on Tiffany in the first 10min off some isolated timber. Let her sink down to where I thought it would come over a limb, then started the retrieve. Came over a limb, and then fish on. Textbook spinnerbait fishing.

I’d been fishing willows all summer but wanted to switch it up. This bait is inspired by the booyah covert double Indiana. Same blade combo, same weight. Just different frame The covert double Indiana is a nasty spinnerbait by the way

Spinnerbait, Chatterbait, or Jig?
Yeah. A swim jig is unlike a spinnerbait or chatterbait. I really like it in the spring, but it works pretty much year round. I wouldn’t really use it in winter, but some forum members have said that they have with success. It is a pond menace too
