Taking Another Break
Okay y’all help me out here. A coworker was just talking smack saying he doesn’t think I catch any fish and that he needs to see photos of what I catch on Monday. Am I to take this slander? Seriously considering going out and making war on fish so I can catch a big sack and then present it to him. I also know that I’ll be unable to fish for October, November, and part of December because of some work-related stuff. So maybe that’s my break???

do you still consider yourself a rookie in fishing?
Intermediate. Like chess, anybody that I meet that just kinda fishes casually, I will outfish most of the time. What I lack is years of experience on any body of water or even a region of the country, because I’ve been moving around. The advantage to that is I’ve seen pretty much all types of cover and structure

How I learned to love punching
I use owner jungle flipping hook and 65lb original power pro. Any bait that has a thick body to hold the hook well and engulf the tip completely is already halfway there to being a good punching bait. I like the Gambler lineup

You're Not Getting Bites, What's the First Thing You Change?
Well, I’ve not been permitted to answer with change location, so I’ll say change depth instead. Im kinda hard headed. I sometimes have a tendency to just do 1-4 different things and if the fish don’t like those 1-4 different things, I say okay that’s fine you are a smart fish but I will find your dumb cousin

Water
For as long as I can remember, I demand high amounts of water to keep me hydrated. If I don’t get adequate water, I can feel worse very quickly. I’ve never had any kind of heat injury, but been somewhat close a couple of times. I feel best when I drink around 1 gallon for a day of moderate activity and close to 2 for high activity or long hours fishing in high heat.

Clean or pollish blades on lures?
Holy cow I’m not the only one who knows about this. Yes do it; it works!

What hook for Senko/Stick Bait?
Owner cps twistlock light, 3/0 I legitimately think I get more bites and hookups when I use this hook

What do you want your rod to look like?
The way the reel seat has material that extends partway through it? I don’t think I’ve seen that before, and you can count me as part of the “leave ‘em” crowd. I don’t like that at all

Color Preference?
Also, side note. Most colors these days seem to have flake in them. Colors with no flake are so massively underrated, it’s crazy.
-
Color Preference?
I believe every lake has its own share of productive colors and that it’s our job as fisherman to find those colors. Beyond that, I think I know what video @A-Jay posted even though I can’t see it. I remember Hackney saying he likes flake/more vibrant colors in the sun and no flake/subdued colors in the dark or under clouds. That - along with changing water clarity - is how I narrow it down from the list of productive colors on a lake.

P B and J jigs?
I mean, you should do it if you want to, but for me, never had much luck on PB J. It was a little better in MO. I dunno why. Just one of those things.

the free-rig. i think i understand.
Plus, the rig apparently comes from Korea. That means it has to be good. I’ll order free rig with a side of bibimbap, please

What do you want your rod to look like?
You have a completely different attitude towards rods and their uses than pretty much anybody I know on this forum. It’s really interesting. Question for you sir: What percent, if you had to guess, of your rods feature a taper other than “fast” or “extra fast” If it happens to be abnormal, I’m not gonna start copy catting. I’ve got my own thoughts too. But I get the feeling your percent is high and maybe it will make me think a bit

the free-rig. i think i understand.
No, I think the deal with the free rig is that 1. the weight moves more freely both along the line and rotationally compared to a t-rig 2. the weight pulls on the bait from a different vertical angle when compared to a t-rig 3. the weight pulls on the bait from potentially a rotated position All the above means that the bait, in simple terms, just falls differently than a t-rig ….. Does this replace a T-rig??? …. NO

Revo SX Gen 5 or Tatula 150
I have a zillion and like it but do not want it for this purpose. Hey, I appreciate it though

Revo SX Gen 5 or Tatula 150
These are the two reels I’m thinking of mounting on my new Expert Head Turner. Abu fans, please bash and attack the Daiwa fans. Daiwa fans, please bash and attack the Abu fans. No, don’t do that. Just looking for some thoughts on what y’all think. Skipping, pitching, buzzbaits, walking baits

Dbombs when to use
I don’t normally recommend doing something that I haven’t tried but I would put the dbomb on a free rig.
-
The bait monkey in disguise
Yes sir. I’ll put a 6 speed reel on this one and keep the 5 speed on my other one. The 5 will continue to pull full time spinnerbait duty and this one will kinda be a junk rod. Skipping, buzzbaits, pitching, walking baits, and one top secret thing

Summer to fall bass movement?
Fall is gonna cool the water and sometimes bring rain. Both of which I think are inevitably going to push some fish shallower, or at least higher in the water column. This is just because everything else in the food chain is gonna do the same. Shallower is relative though
-
The bait monkey in disguise
Yeah I don’t think I’ve lost one. The strength and resistance of 65lb braid is absurd. It’s why I love punching so much. It is as heavy as heavy gets in bass fishing. Plus I just like pulling a fish out of someplace where it doesn’t make sense for them to be
