Well, I’ll bank fish places that I’ve found in the kayak, if they are accessible, and if the wind direction sets up correct for them. I don’t want to be throwing into a crosswind. I like to keep it moving bank fishing, so I’ll probably bring one rod with either a spinnerbait or maybe or a worm or jig and then just cover water down an interesting piece of structure Ive dismounted out of the kayak once this year because of heavy wind and had luck, and I plan on doing more bank fishing on spots in the future for a few reasons. 1. It’s super quiet 2. My retrieve is going to be different from any boat fisherman 3. It’s convenient and I don’t bring as much gear

I would not bank fish at Stillhouse. Rough terrain and can’t really access spots good. There are lots of great lakes in TX. Hopefully I learn Stillhouse well enough to start joining these guys catching the good ‘uns. I kinda suspect that with the 14-15ft water clarity, I just haven’t been fishing deep enough.

Almost 4 for me. So off-limits on a day trip But, Stillhouse is climbing the leaderboards baby. Ain’t got those 13lbers, but it’s got 7-10s, alright

So Cbump likes Possum Kingdom too, and a little while back I was looking through ShareLunker entries trying to see where the big fish are being caught. The amount of entries from both OH Ivie and Possum Kingdom is astounding. Record largemouth for PK is @16lbs

Got plenty of standing timber hanging around. Not just in the areas indicated. A lot I can see, but I suspect there is a lot more under the surface. There is also rock in some places The point you are referencing was…. interesting…. To walk. Water is low so I can walk out onto it

Bait monkey is livid with me. I told him that during this fishing break, I was not going to buy any fishing gear. So he put a gun to my head and forced me to browse three fishing sites looking for deals. Coming up empty, now he’s telling me I need to go fish for channel cats instead, so I can still take a break from bass fishing

I done okay for small river smallmouth with a Charlie brewer spider ultra head 3/16 or 1/4oz and a zoom finesse worm.

The funny thing about mid depth lures is I’m pretty sure that the fish In actually catching are usually off the bottom. I don’t know for sure, because I don’t have livescope, but I’m pretty sure I am calling fish up. I really dislike suspended fish

@GoneFishingLTN I think @Catt‘s point is that you gotta decide what those lures are for yourself. It’s just what you like to use and what you have confidence in. There’s a bit of knowing the lake too. My mid-range lure pretty much year-round is a spinnerbait. I just catch em everywhere I go on it, at some point or another. Might not be today, but over the course of the year, a spinnerbait is going to stack up lbs of bass for me Topwater is my greatest weakness

My #1 choice if I am just dragging or hopping deep is a zoom mag 2. Experiment with colors but you better try the red/purple variants. Some of my favorites are plum, plum apple, cranberry, tequila sunrise, black, scuppernong, and red bug.

@Pat Brown woah lots of buzzers indeed. I have several 1/2oz hog snatchers. They are well built but the hook on em is just obnoxious. I haven’t really decided if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. The rusty squeaker has always really interested me. Please let me know how it does I gave up trying to file and sand and bend my way to a louder buzzbait, so now all I do is the old school method. Crimp rivet and then tape to location on your vehicle and drive around for 30min. Often I have to bend the blade up to get it to have enough clearance while driving. The buzzbait will be pretty dang squeaky afterwards Just saw you added this

What buzzbaits and do you modify them out of the package?

I agree with the folks saying that there are many things someone might want to obtain from fishing, and that without knowing their goals, it's hard to judge them. Another good argument I see that people are making is that it's just fishing - no need to take it too seriously. I really put a lot of energy into my own fishing, but that's my choice. For me, and me alone, I just want to get in tune with the bodies of water I fish as best I can. I want to learn spots and conditions and how everything changes. Learning.... no, observation... is what I think I enjoy most. I think this careful observation will get me some good quality bass. Maybe even a lunker at some point.

Junebug I like. Black and blue works good but I don't tend to use it a lot because it is popular. I will often go straight black

1/4oz red eyed shad got me started this year in the winter. I think it caught my first fish on January 14th in MO. Super friggin cold water. My whole thought about the small 1/4oz in the winter is that it falls slow and retrieves slow, both of which I want in the winter. It’s not really about the size. I continued to have success on that weight lipless in my super early season and I’ll use it again when we hit winter
