really stringy weeds
1/8oz bullet weight and gambler burner worm, size is your choice. Swim it as a topwater or just underneath surface, if that is possible. Pop to shake free of any grass on retrieve but otherwise, reel it in nice and steady

Tiny Finesse Jig
I had a day this year when downsizing - in the late winter/early prespawn, no less - got me a good quality bass. I was targeting offshore brush piles from the bank and switched from a big living rubber jig to a bitsy flip with z craw jr and got a nice MO largemouth

Umm. What?
Man. For something so "smart", it's pretty dumb

Transporting 7'11 + Rods
I am too simple. My catfishing rods are the only ones that are 8'. They are cheap and I will set them down inside the truck bed and lightly ratchet strap them to hold them in place

Difficult fishing waters
"Ol muddy" in NC is a pond that my family fishes. It can get very very muddy and the bass are rather picky in there. It is one of the weirdest bodies of water that I've fished because if you ain't fishing plastics, you ain't getting bit. The absolute best lure is a weightless texas rigged senko, especially a black one. That has remained consistent for quite a while. If you have not tossed a senko in there, give it a shot. See my profile pic? That's ol muddy

Zoom Brush Hog.
The big brush hog is something that I like to use in the fall or spring in off-colored water around timber It is a very specific bait for me but it's accounted for some decent bass It is very popular on a carolina rig, albeit I don't use it on one

I'm Happy
I visit a local tackle store here, too. I have learned several things while hanging around there, and they sell really good jigs, especially. They stock Oldham's, Hackney's, and Coda. Not a bad fishing store and it is a good place to see what locals like to use. Their store is built around the lakes surrounding Nice to hear this young man is doing well pursuing something he wanted to make happen for himself

When do you guys toss out your jigs?
Felt that. These lakes down here will eat up any lure you try. The cover is so thick in a lot of places, it begins to make sense why a Texas rig owes its namesake to this state. You fish Toledo and that is close enough to TX. I can’t imagine LA is much different anyway

Tiny Finesse Jig
It will be a while before I try because bait monkey is absolutely crushing me rn but I will take a look sometime late this year or early next year.

Tiny Finesse Jig
Okay I actually really like that combo. Thank you. I am not wild about the bitsy bug, but the bitsy flip has no real competitor in the world of tiny, stout hooked jigs.

Turn around for bigger fish
Something I’m kinda still mulling over is that I graph what looks like larger bass on the local lake I’ve fished recently around 19-20ft, but I cannot get those buggers to bite most of the time. I fish a lot in the 5-10ft zone. I have a couple thoughts in mind about this. The first is that I think it’s possible those fish are just inactive most of the time. They are off the drop. The second thought I have is that I just haven’t found the right presentation for them. But big bass as a whole… man sometimes it surprises me how shallow they will get. That intermediate depth zone of like 6-15ft is where I focus a lot of my attention. I’ll find big ones shallow in the winter when you can find numbers of smaller fish deep.

Fall Crawfish Spawn
Hey y’all, Yet another fall post from me in summertime. Yeah so I’m not totally sold on my own idea to only toss buzzbaits for the entirety of fall. I might still do it, purely to see what happens, but I hate missing opportunities and that’s kinda what it feels like I’d be doing. Maybe not. Maybe I’d up my odds at a lunker or two. Anyway, I digress. I done heard from some place somewhere that crawfish spawn in the fall? Who pays attention to this and throws jigs and other crawfish imitators in the fall?

When do you guys toss out your jigs?
The wire, head, and hook are all rusted on this jig. I keep it for the memories to be honest. I might be able to doctor it up, but the rust is pretty thick on the hook. This jig annihilated NY pond bass swimming in the springtime Yeah most of the time though, if I wind up using a jig a lot, I’m bound to lose it. They are good at coming through cover, but I will find a way to lose one. Same thing with Texas rigs. I’ll find a way to lose a worm

C-Rig Setup
I don’t do that, myself. He is able to do it better with his super long rod. I like somewhere around 2.5-3ft most of the time, but I’ve gone longer and shorter
-
Same old, same old lures
I am very old school. Not really set in my ways, but rather I just find myself using basic stuff most of the time. That’s spinnerbait, jig, and t-rig. I can and do toss other stuff, but I sometimes astound myself how much I toss those three.

What's a better knot for fluorocarbon?
@Mike L it is fine line. I do think I like it better than invisx, which is probably its main competitor. Both lines are quality and both have good personal attributes. In a fluoro, I was looking for something stout that holds up a little better to abrasion, and I think sniper fits that bill. It also isn’t totally rigid. It has some stretch.

What's a better knot for fluorocarbon?
A palomar is fine on fluorocarbon. I’ve been playing around with 18lb Sunline sniper. I got to test how strong the line and my knot is this weekend, pulling against snags trying to break it. It is unbelievably strong. There ain’t no way in heck a fish is going to break me off, unless I’ve been careless and not retied when I need to

Technique order on offshore structure
@Pogues2300 right. It's easy to spend forever on a spot when your sonar tells you that there's bait, and maybe you see bass, and maybe you know you've caught em there before, but timing on a spot is important and if the bass don't want to eat, ain't no sense in trying to force feed em. Leave, and come back later if you want
