  1. I do prefer to cast into the wind but it is not a hard rule for me at all. I will break it if I want.

I don't think there is a state that I would dislike being in more
  3. @FryDog62 you had me at Big Mac ??
  4. Okay no prob. Yeah, I recommend siebert’s arky jigs. I think you will be very pleased with them. Check out the living rubber models too Good jig also
  5. Correct. It is the #1 state currently for bass fishing. Trick for me is going to be to figure out what lake works for me and how to catch them
  6. @AlabamaSpothunter As I recall, most bass in Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn as examples are F1 bass. Northern strain largemouth are most definitely more aggressive, having spent a lot of time in NY. I won’t claim whether that makes them easier to catch, but it did mean for me that in the summertime, I was spending less time dragging a worm and more time reeling a spinnerbait. They just seem more apt to chase. If you listen to the Bassmaster elite circuit, you will hear commentators talk about this sometimes
  7. Y’all pay for it in the winter though, so it all evens out. One thing that’s surprising me is that I thought that fishing would slow down here in TX once it got hot. It is not.
  8. @Skunkmaster-k @Pat BrownI’ve been known to lean a little more towards red and purple colors for worms in the summer. Both y’all mentioned purple worms ?? First and foremost I want the bass to tell me what color they want. I ordered 6 more packs of what worked my last trip ? I may break out the 7” magnum speed worms again based on what everybody is saying. And buzzbaits. But if I skunk on buzzbaits, it’s y’all’s fault It would be easy for me to ask what the bait is, but I want to know about the locations. What characterizes the locations you are fishing? You say they are different than rest of the year.
  9. So the word flipping seems to be very misused today. I don’t see hardly anybody actually flipping. And for most docks and laydowns that you mention in your post, you don’t need something like a flipping jig. An Arkie head would probably be better. For that, I recommend Siebert’s. I really only use a “flipping jig” when fishing grass, and the best I’ve tried for that this far have been Terry Oldham’s jigs and the Greg Hackney Hack Attack jigs.
  10. Hey y’all, I want to get everyone’s perspective on what techniques do you think can produce larger fish in the dog days of summer? I have posted some thoughts on this and I do have opinions but I am open to different viewpoints on this.
  11. Okay yeah why do buzzbaits work? I think Glenn makes a great point for topwater in general that something on the surface of the water has less to escape to. A bait in the middle of the water column can go up or down but a bait on top can only go down. It is trapped in a sense
  12. Guys here seem to throw every bait made. I’ve seen all forms of topwater, beavers, huge swimbaits, worms, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, jigs, crankbaits, jerkbaits… you name it
  13. My Dad sometimes seems like the world’s worst, and there are most often injuries involved. I have to remind myself that it happens to him because he’s the one out there trying to get stuff done. But he has had an ER visit or two, or a dozen.
  14. Starting this 4th of July off right pumping some iron. Seems like the very American thing to do ????
  15. Sounds like those bluegill might be spawning. That is where I would stay. I believe that is usually the pattern for larger than average bass in the postspawn. Try swim jigs, senkos, and creature baits
  16. I needed about 10 more dollars for free shipping so I threw in an SV-3 in white python. I want to see that spinnerbait in my favorite color scheme - just a solid white.
  17. Save for early high school when I opted for a slick back, I have always preferred shorter hair
  18. Old Forester is great and inexpensive Edit: wait, just realized that’s some kinda special version. Disregard
  19. Nah to heck with that. That’s giving them what they want. There’s only an argument if you participate.
  20. The lake I fish close to here is having one of its best years ever in the history of the reservoir for bass fishing. It is snotted with hydrilla in most places shallow. Like Catt said, there are tunnels and caverns underneath. But also, there are some places shallow with a different bottom composition where the hydrilla is greatly decreased. These have actually been places that I look for when I go fishing
  21. Pick rod power based on hook gauge (thickness) and the lure weight. For what you described, I would lean towards selecting a medium heavy that fishes closer to a heavy. This means your palomar is not tied correctly. Ensure that the lines never cross one another and cinch tag end first until you meet more pressure and the line is almost cinched down completely, then pull mainline and tag together.
  22. @Jar11591 well I'm about to go to academy because I need more 1/2oz weights. I think I got hung in trees 2-3 times last night with a t-rig, lol. So if I see that bait, I will at the very least take a closer look. I know they carry that series of spinnerbait Thanks man
