  1. Ol crickety be like “Another human being”
  2. Each side of where the leader and mainline intersect. Where you are holding the two lines together to begin your knot
  3. 20 wraps total, 10 each side. One half hitch on each side after all the wraps. Make sure that your half hitches go in the same direction on both sides!! Keep as much tension as you can on the knot and pull each wrap tightly as you work
  4. Hey y’all, Just figured I would share this. Mark Davis talking through his Carolina rig setup. You will see it becomes evident throughout the video that he’s put a lot of thought into his setup. He sometimes goes against the grain or favors more old-school components. It’s a good watch and it may make you think differently about a C-rig
  5. @FishTax same experience for me. We can talk in PM. As it would be winter, I almost say we should go to any of the heavy hitters around Raleigh. Jordan, Falls, Shearon Harris. It looks like Jordan is the closest to you. Anyway, I don't mean to hijack the thread. We can PM
  6. @Anthony Watson pay very close attention to bottom composition and look for anything "different" on the structure. It could be cover. It could be a hard spot. It could be a little difference in the contours. Pay attention to where bait is and if you are consistently not getting bit, pay attention to what depth you are targeting These are things that I wish I would have done when I started structure fishing
  7. @FishTax Bout an hour from where I used to live, too. I get it though. And yes, I will hit you up. The next time I think I might be on Badin would be in December over leave during the holidays, but I may opt for other lakes in the winter.
  8. It's okay he stays with me sometimes. I let him stay in the tackle room. Strangely new stuff keeps coming into the room all the time. I don't remember buying anything..... I wouldn't do that.... so he must keep bringing stuff....
  9. Hi Why are you not on Badin? ?
  10. This time of year in that depth range, select a 1/2oz compact frame spinnerbait with a 3.5 colorado in front and 4.5 willow in the back.
  11. More intuition than anything else, but I will say that nowadays, I will often throw no more than 1-2 baits at a piece of structure with about 20 casts or less between the two, or one. If I do not get bit, I am moving. If I get a bite, but do not get a quality fish within the next 20ish or so casts, again, I am moving. I used to anchor pretty much anytime I fish structure. Now, I may not. I may just slowly work over the structure, including both deep and shallow until I establish a good depth for the fish. I move, I move, I move. What do I throw? What is working/what the conditions or cover dictate. Almost 90% of my fishing is "offshore" structure. I might be close to the bank, but I can guarantee you that I'm on some kind of structure.
  12. Heavy mono or fluoro if not punching. 15lb big game or 18-20lb fluoro. If punching, 65lb braid
  13. There’s a quote I saw hanging on a gym wall in MO. Read “You think lifting is dangerous? Try being weak. Being weak is dangerous”
  14. @gimruis yup, well done man. In NY, my benchmark for lunker status was >=4lbs
  15. So basically discussion is fleck versus no fleck? Yeah I heard Hackney say once that he likes fleck when it’s sunny and no fleck when it’s dark and that kinda made sense to me. I don’t go by that rule all the time though. Mostly I just try to figure out what the hot colors are on a lake. Right now, for me, that’s Gambler’s color Backatya, which is a black with blue swirl and tiny purple fleck
  16. Fished yesterday evening 6pm-9pm and caught 5, missed several again, and I think one or two were larger fish. It started out so windy that I actually dismounted from the kayak and went on shore throwing a spinnerbait. Those are the first two photos you see. Third limit on the lake, by the way! SV-3 from bank and gambler burner worm from boat, same color and weight as this past weekend. Couple thoughts/observations I had on this trip: - I need to adjust what worm hook I'm using on the burner worm - Most my bites came rapidly from one new area that I'd never fished, and I could detect a pretty hard bottom throughout a lot of the structure.... it's going to be a place for me to monitor for sure.
  17. Having spent a decent amount of time looking at photos of crawfish, I am partial to the colors Green Pumpkin Blue, Green Pumpkin Red, and Falcon Lake Craw when imitating crawfish. It always helps to know exactly what crawfish look like in your body of water
  18. Shoulder does not feel quite right on my right side. Not associated with my previous injury. The localized pain is in a totally different area. More on the front and side of my shoulder. Think it is a small issue and will not change fishing but will be stopping lifting for a bit
  19. I’ve not seen super hot temps shut down the bite. Water temps are hovering around 88 at my local lake right now and last trip was pretty good. They hit that and above when I fished Badin last summer and fishing was still good Unnaturally cold temps on the other hand….
  20. Don’t be shy. Tell us how you really feel
  21. I use a USAA Amex card
  22. I’ve noticed bass not biting under that scenario too. Doesn’t make sense to me but I won’t question it, I guess.
  23. @gimruis humidity wise yeah it’s been muggy. I don’t particularly like Texas either. Just ain’t pretty I like thick woods and flattish land, but with some rolling hills
  24. @Bird yeah man I'm not sure I could explain it to you but I dislike the beach and anything tropical. So Hawaii seems like hell
  25. @Junger all of them I guess? My roommate told me that he was going to hawaii with his girlfriend and I just thought "Dang, I'm sorry" All of the allure of Hawaii does not appeal to this guy. Just felt like I had to get it off my chest
