  1. I saw them. I saw them all ? Do largemouth or smallmouth taste better?
  2. I lost no fewer than 5 jigs fishing with him. Can’t make this stuff up. The rocks there are crazy
  3. really depends. I try to guess the conditions and bring as little as possible. For my trip with @thediscochef, bank fishing a lake that I’ve never been on before, I looked at the weather, saw it was going to be pretty mild winds and figured that we were going to be fishing in some rocks and that we also might be fishing some crowded areas, so I packed the following with a bit of a finesse approach: - 2 rods: jig and t-rig - One sandwich bag with some light wire hooks and light bullet weights - One sandwich bag with some heavy bullet weights and heavier wire hooks - One sandwich bag with small jigs - 3 bags of worms - 4 bags of craw baits - 2 bags jig trailers - Spare line and other tools I don’t really wish I had brought anything else in spite of what I may have said about spinnerbaits out there ?. Maybe some topwater, but that’s it
  4. @A-Jay’s response to my jig fishing question on another thread inspired me to share my jig boxes. I really like jigs. I don’t always throw them and they aren’t even always tied on, but I have caught a lot of bass on jigs over the past several years so they are always in my rotation at some time. So, this post is sponsored by the bait monkey. I have two boxes dedicated to jigs. Actually recently reoutfitted to fit this purpose. Please share your jig collections if you would like. The amount of jigs I have is….. just right…. I think I know @Bluebasser86 has a heck of a collection too. I’ve watched his YT video that he did on it
  5. Thank you! I may run into SMB by chance, but nice to know that if I think I have some of them located and would like to target them that I can throw a nice big jig for them
  6. Sir, off topic question. Do you consider a full size jig with 4”-5” rather beefy trailer a bait that is too large for smallmouth? I’ve noticed that you tend to throw rather large baits for them, generally speaking
  7. Getting a haircut is scientifically proven to help you catch 33% more fish
  8. Hey y'all, Yesterday @thediscochef was gracious enough to let me come up to Ray Roberts and fish some of his spots from the bank with him. I can't thank him enough for the opportunity to see another part of Texas, see Ray Roberts, and just have the pleasure of fishing with him. Thediscochef is a gentleman and he is very easy to have a conversation with. Yesterday really allowed me to get inside the head of @thediscochef and understand how he goes about trying to catch bass at Ray Roberts. It is not easy! Ray Roberts is a very large lake and it is notorious for having a lower bass per acre than many surrounding lakes in Texas. @thediscochef fishes this lake from the bank and he uses simple gear. So, for any bass that he posts up on BR, respect him! I realized when talking with him over the course of the day that he has spent a lot of time working on his craft, thinking about where these bass hold, and how he can catch them better than other anglers on the water. He is very intelligent and understands a lot about the ecosystem of a lake and fish behavior. So, I have a few photos to share. We caught a few bass and we were able to snap a photo together. I hope I'm able to fish again with him in the future! I had a lot of fun out there! DFW area can be very very pretty! P.S you can blame me for telling him to longarm his bass ??.
  9. This happens to me when I am trying to reach the forums from the main page. I am still able to navigate using the menu button while on the forums. To reach forums, I must use the forums URL or get to a post
  10. I have no idea when is the best time to fish anymore. Caught em too many times super early in the morning during winter and right in the middle of the day during dog days of summer for me to start making judgements at all. I just go whenever fits best around my life schedule and I don’t worry about it. If it’s up to me, I usually prefer to fish early in the morning into early afternoon
  11. I like either 15lb big game or 18lb Sunline Sniper. That is for most applications when I am in moderate cover
  12. That lake looks familiar
  13. @king fisher still with the prettiest and most creative spinnerbaits out there
  14. @Pat Brown Nichols spinnerbaits are the shizz
  15. Catt has a secret spinnerbait? One that he hasn’t talked about before?? Okay, we’ll let you keep your secret. I still think it’s got something to do with waking a Triple Rattleback
  16. One bass, kinda insignificant size this evening. I launched at the dam to check on that area. Not a lot of wind so I skipped docks at the marina and mixed in some pitching and casting too. Why posting? That was first bass on a jig at Stillhouse this year and first bass caught skipping this year too. Yes, I skip decent with a baitcaster out of the kayak
  17. Rock on sir. Rock on. We would like to see your bass, but we can absolutely do without a report if that’s what the weather calls for
  18. Wait, what? Did I miss a report? What happened?
  19. I’ll have to look through some of your old posts. I remember you mentioned where you can buy them but that they are a bit hard to get a hold of
  20. Just looking to update the never ending “what’s your favorite” threads, this time focused on spinnerbaits. Just to see if there’s something new y’all have discovered and to let newer members share what they like, too. You can pick as many as you like Pictures are great. We like pictures
  21. Ol crickety was having good luck on the mag ol monster this season. I liked using the magnum sized speed worms up in NY, including the gambler 7” burner worm. The burner worm is huge. Shorter than 12”, sure, but it is all body and super thick. I can send photos later to give you an idea.
  22. Dad is still alive. I grew up hunting with him and sometimes the rest of the family as well. He is quiet and raised me in a very “hands off” way. Far from neglection, I realized it was his way of just telling me, “You got it, you can figure it out.” He has given me great advice when he decides to, but otherwise he has let me grow into the man that I want to be, just kinda watching over my shoulder to make sure I don’t do something stupid, and if I did, he would correct me. Dad is also one of the smartest people that I know. He is incredibly sharp, well-read, skillful in many things - a true renaissance man. DIY is the way he runs his life. He’s competitive as well. He has a profound appreciation for the outdoors and understands on some level a spiritual aspect to this life. He also served in the Army for a long time, making a career out of it and serving overseas. I have a lot of respect for my Dad. Because of the way my Dad has raised me and allowed me to be who I want to be, we are quite different. And that’s okay. We both respect one another and we both understand one another. I try to fill his shoes as best I can.
  23. Heard we needed some more dinks in here? Got 3 in a couple hours this evening, all on modified SV-3
  24. That’s a great lookin SB
  25. Since being here in Texas for about 7 months now, I have been late to work once that I remember, and it was by like 2 minutes. No one has ever called me asking me where the heck I am
