  1. @A-Jay who said anything about extra credit 😁 I don't remember what I was doing on February 6th but I probably did not want to jinx myself by saying what bait would catch largest fish
  2. @NorthernBasser @KP Duty So how much is he paying y'all?
  3. And jigs and crankbaits and spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and chatterbaits and jerkbaits and senkos and shaky heads and walking baits and poppers and devils horses and…. Oh wait
  4. More than Walmart, I like going into local tackle stores because very often they will introduce me to a new regional bait that I like. Walmart and Academy I will check on for a few items, and otherwise I’m online
  5. Yes pretty much every single time. Last time I went there was a hard bait that I really like that I hadn’t seen there before, so I picked it up. Can’t remember what it was though
  6. Biggest this year is 7.31lb on a Coda Lures Apex All-Purpose Jig with a rage craw trailer. Blue craw (ish) color with the claws dipped in Spike It. Lake Somerville on April 1st Then I proceeded to skunk for many trips after. Stupid lake 😡. Funny how it still gave me biggest bass though
  7. This I know, that you will be fine catching fat bass in your bogs. That’s all good. Worry more about this, buckeye
  8. You can also consider taking off some of the strands of the weedguard if it is too stiff to your liking. I do this sometimes.
  9. @TnRiver46 @gimruis I had a few PMs with @Deleted account. Seemed like a good man, funny, and every so often he’d make up his mind to be helpful to someone (not always, lol) and you’d realize that he really knew what he was talking about. It’s why I outright started asking for his opinions on stuff
  10. Bro why are you asking us for advice You’re good
  11. iRod 704C. I have the Genesis III and recommend but you could try the Air in your price range. The 704C has a very forgiving tip section but the strong backbone makes it a true heavy rod. It is very powerful. 3/8oz-1oz jigs cast good on this rod. Around 5/8oz-3/4oz jigs with trailer is this rod’s sweet spot. That heavy range should indicate to you this rod’s power
  12. @A-Jay I suspected similar things
  13. @riverat yup I’ve got Oldham jigs from local tackle stores and I placed an order from Terry not too long ago. They are some of my favorites. Great in the grass
  14. @Carolina Pines that’s wild. Our PBs are eerily similar in both size and bait used. NC too
  15. @Zcoker could be in my head, but in my opinion, you are doing something right by putting a large trailer on there too. There’s a theory that the fish’s sense of how big the bait is should match how big it actually is. Rick Clunn talks about this here. I’m skeptical about some things he says and there is a lot of marketing for the Trickster spinnerbait here but it does make you think about spinnerbaits and the way they are designed
  16. @bigspirit email Brooks Woodward of Nichols. Tell him you want Pulsator spinnerbaits in single colorado. Give him the skirt color, blade color (they have a bunch), and weight Get creative The sound signature and water displacement of a big colorado tells fish that the bait is really really large
  17. I went back to @ol'crickety’s thread titled Attainable Goal for 2023. I said in there that I wanted one bass in the 8-9lb range. It’s decently likely that I will not be fishing in Texas again until next year, so it’s also likely that I will fail my goal. I didn’t accomplish much else so for me it’s better luck next year
  18. 😂. crap, you're right. As soon as October hits, it's prespawn. I forgot
  19. Ahhhh but that’s pretty much prespawn Jig is the best prespawn bait
  20. Well, that's tough for me to say for sure. I just moved to TX this March and didn't start fishing the Lake until Juneish. I have not seen the lake during winter. The grass is hydrilla and a lot of it. It is pretty dominant, but the lake also has cover in the form of rocks and standing timber And thank you!
  21. @WRB by jig I am referring to a skirted bass jig with either a rubber or silicone skirt with a fiber weedguard. Picture a Hack Attack Flipping Jig. That is close to what I am using. I primarily fish a grass lake. Whatever jig I use must come through grass.
  22. This one's a bit early. I never can make up my mind if jigs are a good winter bait. Sometimes seems like there are better options. Do you like jigs in the winter? We know that Northerners do, because they will skip real good across the ice. Good practice 😁
  23. @gimruis ironically, as I am continuing to try to understand Stillhouse, I'm increasingly being pushed towards areas where more people are fishing. I'm looking for a better class of fish, and there came a point where I just had to take a step back, look at what I had been catching, and say to myself "That's not good enough." So I try new things and new areas. The new areas that I'm looking into share some common characteristics. One of which, coincidentally, is more anglers. I still have some spots mostly to myself. There's a whole region of the lake, in fact, that really doesn't get touched a lot but that's where I got the fish that went over 6.5. Which is "getting there" in terms of size. But back to the main point... I agree with you that other anglers often know what they are doing. I saw the same thing on Somerville, where everything that I knew about and thought I would have to myself, other people knew about too. It's okay. I'm coming to these spots based on my own study and I've still got some areas to myself.
  24. @ElGuapo928 ah okay I thought we were talking about studying about behavior. Yes lake study can be helpful.
