  1. the quality and performance in the reel is not like the gen 2, i bought one but it will be my last.
  2. Fished mono for a while then got some copoly for crankbaits and have faired well so far. Been using sunline sniper for fluro setups but finally ran out last week, went to reorder and seen its went from $60 to $90 for 600 yards. So this time i ordered yozuri hybrid 15 lb for these rods to see how well it works out. With the difference in price I tried the copoly, I know its not the same product but I'm gonna give it a try.
  3. same here, bought some for leader line. worth a shot since it was half off.
  4. thanks i use the 2.5 and 3.5 for the most part, stick with freeloader for anything bigger.
  5. i think it depends on the water how well that it works. i used it couple season trying to predict wind and where to fish but was always off. Ended my subscription.
  6. The couple jig heads I've got are a pain to use with the mooch minnow plastic. I've tried the VMC swimbait with screwlock, strike king squadron, and some a guy made at home. I cant get the VMC screwlock to work with this bait, works great with freeloader. The other two the head and collar its a pain the get and keep this stretch bait up on them even with superglue. May try a couple of the new VMC styles when I made another purchase.
  7. i bought one of those to try and dont think its as good as the gen 2. like above the reviews overall have not been good which have led to the early clearance. changes have been made to one of the best reels I have found. I've been buying up used gen 2.
  8. i never trade any newer rods in, mostly just old ones that are stuffed in a back corner. they dont seem to care how old the rods so I grab one especially if they have another rod or reel i'm interested in just to get a few more bucks off.
  9. spoons arent just for winter either, I got on a great bite late may into june this year. i couldnt count the number of fish I caught. i use a little of all mentioned above.
  10. good tip to check lowrance site for compatiblity, I'd go no older than the HDS carbon units though. they are the previous version before the lives. plenty of good units and can be bought used on different boards. i like having the same units so i dont question settings between the two. if you are going to put at dash you will need another transducer. the elite FS units are good also and can be networked.
  11. where is the BOGO deal at? i've done a couple searches but havent found anything. thanks
  12. if option are limited it doesnt have to be line thru. the videos i've been watching the guy was using the osakana, finally found the name of the bait burried in the comments. I may look into that deal that was mentioned. I hadnt heard anything good about the nessie so I wasnt hesitant to buy, only the berkley pros have something good to say about it!
  13. Looking for recommendation on soft body line thru glide bait. Lake I'm going to start fishing, from the youtube videos I've seen they catch them pretty good during the spring and probably all year long. I've never fished hard of soft glides so it will all be new to me. Thanks
  14. Went down for four days and fishing was tough. Water went from 74 to 70 with the cold front and rain moving in. The wind was rough just about every day and the last couple made running around on the lake rough. Caught a limit of fish each day but really no size. Never got on a pattern just try here and there. Cloud cover didnt think the dock pattern would work to well so just tried cover water. Caught fish on drop shot, jig, rattle trap, shakey head, bladed jig. Never seen any schooling action and never got a topwater strike. Trying to find quality fish was biggest issue I had. Was able to manage one good spot each day but cant find a limit of them each day. Found a couple good largemouth but finding them was tough too. Stayed below Eaton Ferry bridge, dont know if I need to try going up river or what. Hoping to get down one more time before deer season ramps up.
  15. The mega 360 works great with live sonar it will tell you exactly what you are looking at under the water. You are not going to see many fish on it but its always scanning so you may see a stump or brushpile you may have missed with you live sonar. Just another tool to use out there.
  16. Any recent reports? Heading down next weekend for a camping trip and plan to do some bass fishing. Would like to get on the largemouth but I think the best chance of that is running to the river and hoping for water release. Bigger spotted bass I have been struggling with down there. No shortage of 1 pounders down there for sure. Thanks
  17. Been down twice this week but only catching spots. Anybody having luck with largemouth? Mainly fishing main lake areas where the bait is concentrated.
  18. they are great reels, i've had no issue with them no matter the type of line or bait i use. i picked up a couple lately on those clearance deals for $60. you cant beat them for the money, bought the next gen model and like it so far also.
  19. you can also download roky tv app to firestik or smart tv
  20. i've caught plenty on those strike king jigs, the 2 trailers make it an even better buy.
  21. i have looked at those BPS jig heads many times but the hook size is on 1/4 and 3/8 is a little on the small size for me. i normall like at least a 3/0 hook. like mentioned above, its cheaper for a reason. light wire hooks when bent will just bend again. just yesterday i hooked a 10 lb catfish on a swimbait, fought it for about 10 minutes, about 5 cast later the hook broke off in the bend from the stress of the fight i guess.
  22. fished Jordan twice this week, tough for me but as always in a tourney somebody figures them out. i cant figure them out offshore or shallow. white perch are everywhere though, you could fill a cooler with them.
  23. i've experienced this twice this week. practice day for a tournament I caught nothing and only one a tournament day. but get to weight in and people catching 17 lb bags really kicks you in the you know what. FFS at the lake we were at I havent figued out due to so much trash fish but stayed on the bait both days without any results. it does humble you but cant give up, got to keep grinding.
  24. falcon lowrider or bucoo lizard dragger. they are only 7 ft but work great i throw them both. can also be used as heavy texas rig also.
  25. do as much research at home as possible prior to going to the lake. have a plan and an area picked before you get there. if that doesnt work move out or in depending on conditions. between google earth and contour maps you could have plenty of good starting spots already marked on your graph.
