  1. The forecasts here are rarely wrong. Super accurate up to a week out. Usually the only time things don't always go as predicted is with summer pop-ups, but if you know anything about weather those are highly unpredictable.
  2. Great, this thread gave me mental imagery of reeling in a baby. Yikes. Never considered that they're born as nice sized bass, and I have 4 of my own. Congratulations man.
  3. I'm pleased to know the truth about Lake Menderchuck now, but I've been thinking on and off all day about why Google never pointed me towards Zona when I have previously searched this lake up to get an idea of what A-Jay is fishing for those big beautiful brownies. ?
  4. It no longer works for a lot of people in a lot of places. This is a pretty common experience. It's still killer in unpressured waters.
  5. So is Lake Menderchuck not even a real thing? I'm really confused. Nothing comes up the times I have searched it out of curiosity. Don't worry A-Jay, I'm never going that far north and I suck anyways.
  6. Not sure, but I know I view guys who reel their lure to the tip guide the same as I view this guy
  7. 1/2 acre pond, in which you catch 7-10 per hour, and "we" keep all "we" catch. You might have solved your own problem without realizing it. That is insane.
  8. I'm as big a believer in the disastrous effects of climate change as anyone, but nobody is neverminding those facts because the real fact is that winter is when the annual die off of plants and insects occurs, and when many animals hibernate, and when the sun becomes scarce, and very few things grow. Winter is factually the death of the earth where and when it occurs, to be reborn again in the spring. Those are the real facts.
  9. It's prettier outside, and there might be a couple few days where the fishing is lights out, but that's it. The fishing on average isn't any better or worse than summer, and I don't like not being able to get up in the morning to go fishing and only needing to throw on some basketball shorts and a t-shirt. More clothing is required. Fall is the Earth's yearly terminal diagnosis. It only has a couple more months to live before winter brings its yearly death, and we are soon stuck inside, the water locked up with ice, waiting for months to get back out there. I don't enjoy it. Summer all the way for me.
  10. I thought the same thing.
  11. I do not find that bass care. I don't fish crystal clear lakes, but I do fish some clear streams, and those SMB don't care at all. I've never found that pond or lake LMB care either, but again, I'm not fishing crystal clear fisheries. Fluorocarbon doesn't handle near well enough, hold a knot near well enough, or make near enough economical sense for me to fish it anyways (and I use to fish it).
  12. It works for me on Chrome with mobile browser view without having to do anything on my part.
  13. What I would do is choose one and go all out with the very best to make it the best experience possible, rather than trying to crunch both into a trip and not getting the best of either world. Either head to the best course and club you can find and afford in the country, or book a guided trip with a top notch guide on one of the best fisheries. A-Jay's days long Mexico guided trips come to mind. Something like that. Good luck.
  14. Who would have guess that? Especially starting with an E in your acronym lol. Unless of course it's actually labeled that way...
  15. Texas Rigs: Most of the time, 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Big Game Jigs: Most of the time, 15lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Big Game
  16. A M/F spinning rod is like a MH/F casting rod. Anything finesse or spinning oriented. Not perfect at everything, but does a little of everything.
  17. Same principle as people abusing their $300+ combos to free a $5 lure. Make it make sense.
  18. Hmmmm I find this odd. I fish the regular KVD 1.5s a lot and they absolutely fly off into the sunset on everything from Black Max reels to Shimano SLX XT reels, from 6'6" M/MF rods to 7'2" MH/F rods. It makes me wonder about your particular reel and its settings.
  19. Not sure. However I have noticed when the water is cold or transitioning to fall and winter their teeth are much sharper than during the summer. The cold water makes their lips much stiffer as opposed to the soft squishy summer lips. Maybe it's the same deal?
  20. If I have $130 to spend, that means I'm sticking to it and getting a Dobyns Fury, or I'm spending a little more at $150 and getting a Daiwa Tatula because it's more than worth skipping one impulse purchase or lunch to make up for it, or I'm saving some money and getting the best truly $100 rod in the Shimano SLX.
  21. I don't find that I get a lot of short strikers. It's definitely happened, but the times I've used a trailer hook in more open water, I've never felt the trailer hook made a difference. In my experience with a spinnerbait, the more cover the better (so no trailer hook) and they're going to eat it or they're not the vast majority of the time. However, we know bass fishing is weird and for some reason we all have different experiences. It may never make much sense why one thing works for one person but not another, even on the same body of water, fishing for the same fish. It's a very weird sport. All that is to say I don't find myself wishing for longer hooks.
  22. When the hook is positioned for the technique, it's very safe and effective*TM
  23. Where I fish spinnerbaits, a trailer hook is the worst modification ever.
  24. I have never fished a lure with a stated weight greater than 1oz. Rigs and total weight with all components, sure.
