  1. too late for my suggestion. the lowly Phenix Maxim. Med. 7'. that thing is the sickest drop shot rod for me. its my most fish catching est rod for a long time. so many fish!!! for me. on a DS rod, the bait keeper HAS TO BE in the right place. for me that is down below the reel. that way I can clip in the sinker and the bait/hook is part way up, and will still clear a rod sleeve. a drop shot rod with the hook keep above the reel is very unpleasant. very.
  2. Perfect response for me @redmeansdistortion . thanks!
  3. I would never own more than one lube and grease. but focusing on getting to the greasy things first...with the screwdriver/tools discussion. thanks!!
  4. so we dont need JIS screwdrivers to work on Shimano and Daiwa reels?
  5. you could say, you have many gears of service ahead of you?
  6. moving baits like topwater. I just use about 18" of some stiffer flouro leader. I like how it helps prevents the trebles from tangling in the braid since it provides some separation and stiffness. all bets are off if I do a helicopter cast.
  7. thinking of this as my jumping off point. #00, #0,#1, #2.
  8. if you didnt get charged by now, I would move on. I feel they delivered as promised.
  9. I can work on cars fine. I think I might dabble on minor reel stuff. I honestly don’t even know what the innards of a reel looks like. I want a peek. my car screwdrivers will prob ruin a reel. suggestions?
  10. slow. just enough to keep it on the surface. but I'm a BB rookie.
  11. yes and no. the instructions seem to stress the importance of a tight seal against sand intrusion if I remember correctly. I guess you could silicon around the perimeter.
  12. I have one. Sonoma Distilling Company - Cherry Wood Rye. I have quit drinking tho. I have come to a realization I am not immortal. I might have 5 drinks per year. hahahha...
  13. gimme a second. I just got back from a beach launch yesterday. Here. Still good after yesterday. I rode a wave in and beached hard. Plus I pivot the kayak stern out of the water by pirouette move on the nose. I pick the tail up and walk it up and around so I am further out of the surf. the nose takes a beating. I am not joking. I’ve done this for going on early COVID. When I bought my first kayak. The bow stays clean. if I had guess, this is my 3rd or 4th roll of tape. my friend wore thru his Burley shield. I asked him how it was going to take off the old one to replace it after using that GOOP marine adhesive..legend says he is still chiseling on it to this day. hahah...I Never asked him..he moved.
  14. I am dumbstruck. that dude has slow boated next to me on the CA delta, eating a hot burrito, drinking hot coffee, yelling, "hey, see you 200 yards that way in about an hour!" I am shocked...he texted me about all the safety gear and just started shopping. hahaha..I think he wants to catch rockfish in the ocean.
  15. I texas rigged it with a 1/8 worm bullet and probably a 2/0 Haymaker hook. it swims underwater, like I see most wild frogs do.
  16. 90% kayak fishing. 50 feet to 150 feet. bounce ball rigs, or high load rigs (both 6oz-ish). some jigging planned in the near future. targeting putting it on a Slow Pitch rod. less than 7' long. probably some fancy PE 2-3 line. I like a narrow spool to help me manage laying the line back down neatly on the spool. I dont go that deep anyways. halibut, rockfish, lingcod. if I get lucky, maybe a salmon down the line. I am going to Japan to buy this reel. having a Japanese reel expert explain the nuances, I might lose some details despite my google translating kung-fu. thoughts? oh, Im grabbing a Zillion HD as well. for science.
  17. I'd sell just one. hahha... wife would be so ticked.
  18. I didnt want to give up all my secrets. Okay. Typo. Scooper frog.
  19. The Snooper Frog. But they cost too much. It’s a special occasion bait at best.
  20. Okay. Now tell me what we advised you to do again? Like exactly! Haha. Just kidding. awesome fish!
