I am not great at managing the gift card. sometimes, especially if I buy it myself I put it into my Apple Wallet. easy. but if someone sends me a picture of one as a gift to me..all bets are off. I was just lazily going through my phone deleting pictures. mostly food pictures of stuff I have cooked. I see it. what is that? it was a gift card!! and there is another one!! the stars aligned and the store I shop are where the gift cards are from! and they had the Bass Puzzle GRASS PIECE in stock. I just flushed all of them and I have some gear coming in the mail. plus a chartreuse buzz jet. cash..I like cash.

true story. I pulled my kayak clean, flipped it and inserted the wheels and pulled it under a shade tree. it looked like the tree puked fishing gear. I had it everywhere, but the boat ramp was so crowded and I moved heaven/earth to get it done in record time. I then took a breath and gathered up the rods and went for my truck. at the truck I started putting my rods into the sleeves for safe travels. A guy started screaming at me. I remained calmed and listened to the words he was screaming. he said I should move I disagree faster so I dont hold up the line of boats.. i very calmly pointed to the pile of fishing gear under the tree and my kayak and said..."I am already out of the water and not in anyone;s way". that dude shut up immediately.. and I could hear his lady-friend whisper..."you need to go over there and apologize!!".. hahaha..he never did, and It didnt bug me one one bit. EVERYONE is in a hurry at the ramp. hahaha.. I get it. I haul ass. ..and if I had a boat, I would hone the craft of a fast ramp time.

I had a really good day with the shaky-head at Clearlake. not sure why it just fell off the radar for me. its like a big long ned-rig in my mind. I went to the store and bought official heads and everything and just never went back to it.

dang it. I am not a baker. I can do sourdough. I dont own a stand mixer. my 96 year old neighbor is German born. she loves to hand out Stollen for the holidays. her Stollen is not good, but it is the thought that counts right? this year, I was waiting for it..I love how it makes her feel when she hands it out. happy. this year, she fell asleep and burned it all. she is alone and really bummed about it. so I reached out to a few coworkers, took notes, watched a few videos. I have two Stollen baking right now. smells nice. one looks like butt. I'll hopefully gift her the better looking one. I think I over floured the work surface. dont know. I am not a baker. I punted with the dried fruit and used what I had. hahah.. every recipe uses a stand mixer. I used a wooden spoon like the nanny in Sound of Music. hoping to cheer her up with a warm Stollen. she is a pain in the butt sometimes..and always wants to talk politics, and she is kinda racist..hahahhaa.. dang, I hope this Stollen comes out. the pressure!!

I take the elevator if I am carrying stuff. luggage, boxes. if I am free handing it. I go stairs. no limits. under 4 stories, it is double time. oh, if the stairwell smells like tick...elevator. hahah...I was in Canada last year...wooooff.

I also got a Zebco 33 when I was tiny kid. I never fished with it. did some casting in the front yard. then I took it apart to see how it worked. best gift ever. it fueled my childlike wonder of the world, and I became an engineer. hahahha..

hahhah...nope. a big Aoudad showed itself to me on day one. but I passed.

I have some pics. im even wearing my lucky fishing themed sweatshirt The highlight? Hanging the wagon wheel my brother had stored for a year. My friend and I are engineers types and we obsessed about it. We took a day to sketch a plan, do a hardware store run to town, build, and then lift the behemoth into place. we used the winch on the front of the jeep!

I had a blast. The long drive home from Texas wasn’t great, but I had a great audiobook. deer, hog, aoudad, and two turkeys taken. One turkey was a fairly longer range .22lr headshot. Super exciting. split the meat with my bud. He shot the goat and the hog. We both felt like it was enough meat for the both of us. We didn’t want to just shoot things. I trimmed the meat and froze portions. Good to go. I have an aoudad chili verde going right now. Fairly tender. Flavorful and not that “goaty”. guns cleaned and put away. Nap time. 💤

as a kayaker, I dont have a non-stealth option. I love the long casts to distant fish. I think they have no idea I am coming for them.

It’s a kayak thing. If you get it you get it. it’s the challenge. It’s harder by a long shot. It’s why that kayaker cheated w a boat. Haha. similar to cooking on fire. I could use a stove, sure…… a boat feels like easy. if I get a boat it will be because a kayak got to difficult, oritceill be for the ocean. Because- sharks.
