  1. I purposely went out into the garage last night to hold a rod/reel combo. because of this thread. I dont palm reels!!! I just ride my thumb along the top and the rest of my hand is on the rod grip. I never pondered my grip, ever.
  2. I'm in a kayak. my run and gun is usually, "let me try 50 feet this way..." I can cover about 10 miles of water if I am feeling frisky, but in general I live with my decision to launch at a spot.
  3. i cannot ID which reel I am casting by girth. I just cast and go. maybe I dont fully palm the reel...dunno. never looked down at my hands that often.
  4. dang A-Jay. that is a great looking line up! I gotta ask. did you take the pic for this discussion or was it already in your photo inventory? I've never really taken pics of my lures.. I love black bladed chatters. all of my early experiments have been with a black blade.
  5. seems like a simpler set up. especially for a kayaker. thoughts?
  6. so great. big time raining at my house. loving it. I checked. my lakes are getting hammered.. YES YES YES!!
  7. I am zero on the bellows gill. they smell awesome tho. I just havent given them their fair shake.
  8. ast Buckingham palace, green park, Embankment, through Trafalgar Square, and then around a few other places depending on the year before you get back into Hyde park and wrap all around it a few times. in London??? dang that sounds fantastic!!!
  9. I'm flying my ass there in a few weeks. I wrote down a shopping list. hah..
  10. then there is the neutral spiral wrap with that one second guide going opposite direction a few degrees.. it is all too much. hahha
  11. we are signing up for the next 10k after a group chat tomorrow. I like it. I like it a lot. I dont think I'll ever do a half marathon. I won't say never, but it seems kinda long.
  12. it was so fun!!! I didnt expect it to be so fun!! I got caught up in all the excitement and ran the entire thing non-stop. up and over hills and everything. ran with a friend and we slowly started picking off other runners. I ran a 9 minute 25 second pace!! ran the 10k and did it under an hour. that is faster and farther than anything I have ever done in my life. so I celebrated with small tiny beers. the race was sponsored by beer. hahahha..
  13. how does a spiral wrapped rod relate to the natural spine of a blank? just wondering.
  14. this was 100% my motivation. braid wrapping up in the upright facing guides at the end. yuck
  15. so weird. it looks like it was put together incorrectly. I heard the term "Acid-wrapped" means the same thing?? no reel yet, so it lives in the neoprene sleeve it arrived in. this is for salt water jigging. bass guys never use them right?
  16. I throw a line I can see. zero clue what a bass can see. usually Ghost Suffix which if I am being honest, is really white. come on, it is exactly white. using up some pink, which is so easy for me to see.
  17. totally weightless rigging for me. they cast so well anyways. I fish it like a weightless wacky. let it sink with eversodlightly ticks of my rod tip. I usually get smoked on the sink. so much fun!!! my Mexican fishing guide called them "caca-Bueno". hahahah
  18. 5 combos. kayak box lightly packed.. and I still usually use one rod, one presentation.
  19. my target reel has been sighted...I hope to buy the Shimano Ocea jigger 1500 Custom F. the F stands for "IF I can find it" I dont find myself in Tokyo that often. even the store owner in Florida said, "oh, buy that one!!"
  20. I seriously think the only reason I know the name (or how to even spell it) of that color is because of fishing lures.
  21. I would need the comic book version:) Haha. We should pitch in and buy him a book about golf. game over.
  22. Nice. last time. Mexico. I ripped the skirts off of Uoze swim jigs and used those. I did feel like a privileged baller! (it hurt bad)
  23. Just this year. an A-rig with all the trimmings! I had Megabass jig heads and some weirdly named paddle tails. close to $100 if I had to guess. mixed feelings. I hate a-rigs.
  24. Oh man. Sorry for the loss! great name!
  25. my BFF is DVT, no doubt. like I said, will continue to let him do the heavy lifting. I want to do some of the stuff. same with my truck. Frank = DVT for my tacoma. I can handle the regular maintenance up to the spark plugs..hahah Salt water has to be brutal on gear. I can't keep sending my reels in between trips. I dropped a motor and changed the clutch on a 1981 Porsche 911SC, so I am a hell of a shadetree mechanic. :D. I can pull up a chair and peek into a reel no problem, I think
