  1. I think fish-monger types have free range on calling fish whatever they want. I often wondered what we would learn if we did DNA testing on the combo plate at a sushi restaurant
  2. the color yellow, and bananas. that's all I'm willing to say.
  3. Sorry. It is a blue Ling Cod. Red fish is a Vermillion.
  4. Flesh is tinted blue. It turns white at cooking.
  5. (So tempted to temporarily change my forum username to FAIRY-COD-FATHER). or just The Cod-Father. hahaha.
  6. I think ALL braid snippers work great. I have so many. I even picked up a pair of micro serrated kitchen shears that cut beautifully.
  7. I think it’s true. not sure what to think about it.
  8. I try to work in a skinny dipper.
  9. Yup. As the knot was forming beautifully w the 25lb mono, I thought life was punking me, but it’s solid!
  10. I’ve been reading about hollow braids. I thought only hollow to hollow splices worked?
  11. Ahhh. I see you favor fishing w plastics! dah du bump!
  12. I bought an airplane ticket to Japan. prices will still be up I suspect since I kinda learned how tariffs affect things in the process. im waiting for my wife’s bday gift from London. Not sure how that’s going to play out.
  13. I kinda agree. I have this rod and it’s just about to take top spot w respect to #’s of fish caught. 1/2 total weight is definitely on the high side of the rod. 3/8th is the sweet oh so sweet spot. Rod is accurate, sensitive, and fights like the dickens. my reel is a lowlier Zillion SV TW.
  14. I feel everyone’s casting technique and skill level is different. There is 0% chance that my settings will work for you. I go conservative and back off until it gets beyond my own personal levels. every reel I get, I follow my own thing.
  15. I don’t love my Bantam. It’s my most backlashable reel. By a mile. I think using it to punch is strategic genius. im going to do that! Thanks for the idea!
  16. For my big salt rigs I really felt the bump-stop effect of my Alberto knot. It was like pulling a small bobber stop into the guides. I decided to thin things up and try the FG. I did use UV glue on the finishing knots. My rod guides were happy. you know what? To the untrained eye, I’m a FG knot pro. They come out beautifully every time. I made them way longer than the 21-22 go arounds normally discussed. I don’t even count anymore. I go by knot length. I get it to about 3/4” long and put on leather gloves and pull it tight. I even hook it to something unmoving and pull really tight. If it lets go, I want it to do so in my garage. This gets it all really thin. ladt Saturday the knot held all day. My leader was so roughened up by the rocks. I changed and retied tonight before dinner. I’m loaded for “bear”. with 20lb braid and my 8-10 lb leaders, I tie an embarrassing FG. One destined for failure.
  17. None of it makes it worth casting a chandelier for me.
  18. Switch to Anderson Connections. ??
  19. ahhhh..I am in love with my bandersnatch. I throw moving things. anything from a 5" Daingerous swimbait to a 3/8th spinnerbait. I had a very successful early 2025 crankbait bite and the Bandersnatch played a huge part. took a beat to get used to the bulbous handle, but the rod itself flings things far like a catapult. in a moving bait rod I want: castability. I want to fight the fish knowing it is pinned. and kinda light since I seem to cast a lot. sensitivity is oddly great on this rod. the Grass-Piece has the most subtle vibration when the blade is dancing. I can feel it when it is acting right..so when I kiss grass and I feel the blade stop moving, I have the backbone to pull it thru the grass. so even in a moving bait rod, the sensitivity is awesome.
  20. all good there. I had a 4-5 year spell of mountain bike crashes where some ER doc didnt believe me when I said I was up to date.
  21. Similar response from me. Teckel Kicknocker. What? You in the right forum? People live/die by being correct on this forum! I love your Shower Blows btw.
