Landing nets
that elation I get when a bass in a net is fantastic. half relief I imagine. I usually need to take a beat to compose myself, and it is nice to be able to keep the fish wet in the net.

Another Shimano Price Increase
the cost of living and increased Shimano pricing compelled me to take a promotion. I gotta pay that Shimano Vig.

I am happy the lakes appear to be filling up somewhat.
Folsom?

Berkley stunna
I passed on them. the Vision is very effective for me, and I am not compelled to change a thing at this point. even my Pointer is fishless. I try and try, nothing. snip it off tie on a Vision and, "oooooh-o"

my inexpensive Lowrance Reveal Hook5 reads 10 degs warmer...
Lowrance wants me to do the software update. done. then they want me to go at it with a super freshly charged battery. I am charging up my better battery that actually goes to 12.4V and I will try that. I am a skeptic that will make a diff. probably the universe telling me I need livescope. hahahha....JK.

Another Shimano Price Increase
everything is up. not sure why we think Shimano is immune to it. at least Shimano is a lot more fun than the dozen eggs I just bought for $8.

Bass behavior after following rapid water level rise.
my experience is to stay home. our lakes are coming up 10-15 feet every week. coming up fast, and the big storm is here tomorrow. while I think this bodes well for spring and summer, we are skunk-city right now. I decided to go to work this morning instead of taking advantage to the break in the bad weather. my buds all got skunked. thought?. when I lake is flushed filled, what do you think the bass are doing? freaking out why the lake smells and taste like motor oil, and winery fertilizer?

Looking back at the 2022 season, what is one thing you want to brag about?
2022 was tough. my rookie season was better. i guess i can brag i still had a GREAT TIME.

New Years, goals, ect.
i just realized a goal!!! i am trying to get better SOLO. i am a kayaker, so fishing solo is just one of the characteristics. i am gonna quit worrying about my friends needs. i'm gonna tell them my plans, if they want to do something different..i will wish them luck, and say we reconvene later to talk story.

Do you have a kayak with a bottom rudder, and do you use your truck bed to haul it?
i am a Hobie guy. i run my kayak in the bed of my truck with a bed extender. my rudder sits underneath the boat like you mention. i stick the kayaks butt into the truck first. nose riding out. i pull it alongside the bed extender and put the red rubber flag that is tied to the nose during transport under the keel. (minor protection). then i life the tail up onto the bed extender. then i lift the nose and push it in and tie off. my rudder never hits the ground in an unfavorbable situation. my Hobie is an OUTBACK. it comes with a rudder gaurd i can use it if i ever need to go nose first..which is now my friend gets his boat up on the roof. tail goes in first.

Are ceramic bearing in a reel an upgrade I wanna do?
Come on. One time! half the bearing is still corrosive.

Are ceramic bearing in a reel an upgrade I wanna do?
thanks for the points to ponder. the guy called and I opted to NOT get the bearings. maybe next time I U-boat my fishing reel.

thanks. I found the calibration option. I did just subtract 9.8 deg..for fun. I will dangle a real thermometer overboard next time to double check. I have some at work that we measure concrete temps with that are overly precise.

Are ceramic bearing in a reel an upgrade I wanna do?
thanks. so far, I think I will decline the upgrade. this is my super smooth already 150MGL.

Are ceramic bearing in a reel an upgrade I wanna do?
1st. Super impressed a few of you got my “dunked my reel in…” thread locked down! Hahaha. Well done! anyways as a result of that thread I erred on the side of caution and sent my reel in. The guy promised to call me before he puts it back together. He asked me to think about ceramic bearings. +$ a few bucks. He said they make a tiny bit of noise, but are smooth as butter. Adds casting distance. thoughts?

New Years, goals, ect.
you live close to the Delta?! I like the Delta better than both those lakes. but I am just starting. I love exploring launch sites. love it.
-
New Years, goals, ect.
I just noted where you fish. I also have a goal to try different launch points to put my kayak into Clearlake. I am almost married to State Park and Braitos at this point. I WILL launch at Red bud this year. same goes for Berryessa. I am gonna venture more.

How many of the bass species/subspecies have you caught?
LMB SMB Spotted MeanMouth Striped Hybrid White. my list sucks so I had to bolster it with other bass..
-
i dunked my Shimano MGL 150 into brackish water..now what.?
dood!!! hahha I did send it in. I'll live with my other reels. i have plenty. but I do agree with the "wish list".

New Years, goals, ect.
my goal is causing me anxiety. hahah.. I plan on slipping my kayak into the Pacific Ocean. I want to catch rockfish badly. I have an irrational fear of sharks. but only when I am in the ocean.

wow!!! just wow! Lake Sonoma came up 11 feet since last week I think.

TOP GUN: Maverick
hahhaa...I'm convinced already that you have to be really good looking to fly fighter jets. no homely pilots.

my kayak knives.
I never gotten myself in a pickle on my kayak that required a knife, but I can only imagine. the worst was when I sent a frog into Tule reeds and got snagged. I paddled into it to rescue my lure, and somehow managed to get reeds, braid, and other cords all tangled into the same mess. I used the tiny knife to cut the reeds so I could float free. the small (tiny) is clipped into that minuscule pocket in my PFD. the big one, I carry when I plan on eating a fish I catch. I will bring it on my ocean trips for sure. it is a very good lake side fish butchering knife. I dont filet fish. I am pretty sure they can cut me free from 65lb braid. these knives are the "Salt" series from Spyderco, so they will not rust. ever. big: Spyderco Aquasalt small: Spyderco Dragonfly 2
