  1. i would be lying if i said i didnt google salt water baitcasting reels..for next time. i just need one. maybe two.
  2. thanks. with the SV spool, i would go in that direction.
  3. mmmm.. i'm more partial to Tequila but i can get behind good fishing gear sober. the Zillion 21 has a SV spool right? the Tatula Flip/pitch doesnt? asking for a friend. super handsome and nice guy. you all would like him.
  4. I called ReelEX. nice guy, that Dan. he said there is no real such thing as Brackish water. its salt water to a reel. he asked, "do you want me to clean it now for $30, or repair it later for $120?". the Ceramic Bearing upgrade is +$20.
  5. ....than any of my friends. super annoying. water was 59 degs on everyones fish finder. my finger felt cold water. my fish finder indicated an impossible 69 degs. balmy. fish should be spawning i lost my micro SD card, and i'm currently putting on pants to go buy another one for a software update. i did a hard reset. no change. any thoughts? i know i can change the temp datum to calibrate it, but that annoys the OCD version of me to no end. time for an upgrade? i have been learning how to read side scan and could use the upgrade i suppose.
  6. quick..scan the return policy. just in case she comes at you hard.
  7. I wear and love both. I have no hair, so you hair guys getting your flowing locks all mussed up with a hoodie pullover...WAH!!! (you can suck it :D) my favorite was a surprise. I bought a hoodie at my local brewery. Russian River. it is embarrassingly LOGO'd up. but the hoodie is thin and light. the arms sleeves are narrower. they allows me to wear a puffy vest over it. this is darn near the counties uniform. we all do it.
  8. our current rain situation is a rare sight indeed. it has rained for the last 6 days or so. my rain gauge at work showed 3.5" in Santa Rosa. just since Wednesday. my most local lake that I quit fishing because it is so low, has come up 8 feet. I predict 10 feet by Monday. it is suppose to dump cats/dogs this afternoon and into the night. I think I need +30 feet to use my favorite boat ramp without hiking a 1/4mile. Yorty Creek boat ramp, Lake Sonoma. I dragged my kayak down and up last year, and I vowed never to do it again. the last portion was ankle deep mud. no fish is worth that. I dont see that ramp opening EVER. I should go work for Army Corp of Engineers so we can extend it all the way down. hahah. Clearlake is the enigma. it has only come up 0.5 feet!!! I guess they havent had what we are having over on the other side of the mountain. bummer. on the bright side. I think Oroville and neighboring lakes are getting filled. my two long distance visits will be the Oroville Themolito Afterbay and Almanor. if I have time, I will tease a giant Spotted Bass at Bullards Bar. Bring the rain!! I am happy to have fixed my stucco leak.
  9. interesting. I always wanted to live where I couldn't see my neighbors. that has all changed since my wife became a public health nurse. she see horror stories. we all imagine living somewhere with our current versions of ourselves. not the one that has failing health, can't drive, can't get to see a doctor, no visitors to do wellness checks, etc. I plan on living the best life I can with the time I have. my wife got a call from a rural mailman that some dude hasn't coming to the mailbox to grab his stuff. my wife had to use my 4x4 truck and went with a social worker and a Sheriff to check on the guy. his phone died, because something in his house shorted out. he was starving, ran out of med, living like an old wild guy. tried to kill himself, but failed. perfect storm of a crap life. he wouldn't leave his home. the ambulance couldn't come get him. finally they convinced him and CALFire came and got him with a 4x4 rig. I plan to die socially. with friends and loved ones. people around me to call me out if I start losing my mind.
  10. i was playing with one at the store yesterday. the handles are awesome. they felt confidence inspiring.
  11. i dont ever paint within the lines. i used a Fury 733, Shimano 150 MGl with 14 lb sniper flouro. i felt outgunned once. but it was fun.
  12. poetry bud. i want to buy a motor. especially have this past trip. the tidal currents were so strong. i stopped to retie, and by the time i looked up, i was kinda disoreinted and lost. it blew me so far down current and around a corner. i intinctively headed upstream and found my group. i was .90 miles from the launch and by the time i got back at the end of the day, i was gassed. GASSED!! i will get the same Newport. what battery did you go with? and does it last a long time? i do however think a power pole on the back of my kayak would have kicked buttee..
  13. I didn’t know brackish conditions are worse. Thanks. Thanks. Been trying to remember this for two days. I’ll ask if I can drive it to him.
  14. I can sleep with earplugs easy. I have a huge box of the good ones for my ears. I wear them at work and I grab a handful to bring home. I want my wife to sleep soundly and get the rest she needs. me wearing ear plugs gets us there. my dog will go berzerk if someone tries to get in, but my neighborhood is pretty good. besides, if I have to shoot someone, I already have earplugs in..for ear protection. safety first.
  15. Just keep telling yourselves that I’ve been skunked for a month. The first time. - “I’m just happy to be out here in nature” subsequent times- “at least my friends are catching, I enjoy just watching them succeed “ a few more trips, “okay, please Lord. Give me a sign you don’t hate me” lastly, “@#!$!!&! That’s it, I’m going to start Golfing” thankfully, that January ended. And Feb 1, I landed a 3 lb bass on a big swimbait. The stars aligned.
  16. I went in to buy replacement hooks for my Vision 110, but the Sirens song for a couple of new colors…that’s how they got me! got a few Mat colored ones. have they always been $25?!
  17. My sister had one. I think it was a stick shift. Gutless. But so fun and quirky. I loved it. Man it was slow. Hers was AWD. This is my truck. Love this thing. Maybe too much.
  18. hahah..this is like the 10 pack of hotdogs and the 6 pack of hotdog buns. by my calculations..i need 3 packs. thanks for the intel. ordering now.
  19. i know there is a Vision 110 replacement hook thread going. thank goodness.
  20. those warning labels are not on there for the smarter segment of our population. in general, this applies to most warnings. they dont even register on my radar. i'm not mad about them at all. they are put there for the total imbecile.
  21. i've been fishing a lot. most weekends for the past 3 years. i see more mistakes from boaters backing up trailers than kayakers holding up the ramp due to slowness. one time i had the luxury to go as slow as i wanted, because a guy dropped his rear wheel off the side of the ramp. i just slipped my kayak next to he\is kelly-whampusly parked trailer and did my thing while he pondered his predicament.
  22. i agree. i sold my Hobie Compass for $1500. it sold like in 10 minutes..so i realized it might have been underpriced. i wasnt mad about it at all.
  23. i sprayed it with fresh water from my waterbladder. at home, i turned the garden hose on it. i took it off the rod, and set it down to clean/lube..but i fell asleep. i plan to NOT do open heart surgery and simply wipe it down and lube and go. i need to remove all the line, because it's pretty twisted from all day jerkbaiting.. (when hooks get caught on line, it spins all the way home), and i backlashed bad. anything i need to do with more fresh water, compressed air, anything? i got winter time to send it in to a pro, no problem..if it gets bad.
  24. it was terryfiying at times. a big striper has it's way with me in a kayak. i thought my rod was gonna break. my hand hurts today from holding on for dear life. i am still smiling. all three jerkbaits now need new hooks. hahah..
  25. haha..i havent been on the water for 2 months. dealing with mom issues, plus rain, plus a rare lack of motivation. today was the day. i called the boss and asked for a Wednesday off. it is our only CLEAR non-rain day this week. (clouds are rolling in as i type this) i hit up a brand new spot. zero knowledge, and i managed to convince a few friends to come with me. Stripers. we found them. i got five hard charging Striped Bass on a Vision 110. water was brackish. so it took some cleaning to get my kayak right afterwards. i dropped a rod into the drink..but thankfully i had a Vision110 hooked to my hand and my jacket. all i had to do was grab the line and pull my rod up. i hosed off the reel and will lube it tomorrow. fingers crossed. my friends suck as photographers. sorry.
