our current rain situation is a rare sight indeed.  it has rained for the last 6 days or so.  my rain gauge at work showed 3.5" in Santa Rosa.  just since Wednesday.

my most local lake that I quit fishing because it is so low, has come up 8 feet.  I predict 10 feet by Monday.  it is suppose to dump cats/dogs this afternoon and into the night.    I think I need +30 feet to use my favorite boat ramp without hiking a 1/4mile.  Yorty Creek boat ramp, Lake Sonoma.  I dragged my kayak down and up last year, and I vowed never to do it again.  the last portion was ankle deep mud.  no fish is worth that.

I dont see that ramp opening EVER.  I should go work for Army Corp of Engineers so we can extend it all the way down.  hahah.

Clearlake is the enigma.  it has only come up 0.5 feet!!!  I guess they havent had what we are having over on the other side of the mountain.  bummer.

on the bright side.  I think Oroville and neighboring lakes are getting filled.

my two long distance visits will be the Oroville Themolito Afterbay  and Almanor.  if I have time, I will tease a giant Spotted Bass at Bullards Bar.

Bring the rain!!  I am happy to have fixed my stucco leak.  :D

my home lake is filling up but they already started to release the water down the river. Which is a good thing to.

I remember this happening last December too…and then it was very dry for the rest of the winter from January to April.

Keep the Pineapple Express coming. Fill up all those reservoirs and build a deep snow pack. You know that drought and wildfires are inevitably returning.

The Central Valley lakes are all up about 20’ and rising.

Success lake is close to Pine Flat, Isabella, Eastman and Hensley all decent bass lakes.

Anyone thinking of going the next few weeks should call the lake ranger as launching ramps will be out of service until the debris and docks can be functional.

Another set of storms coming in tonight for a few days of heavy rain. 5 years between rainy weather causes problems.

Cachuma will be full following this weekend up about 50’ vertical in 5 days!

Casitas is up about 3’ even with the Ventura River flood stage?

Some.  Not great.  They could use 60 more feet to get to 2020 levels.

Casitas is up just a little as they are diverting water via the Robles diversion away from the lake.  Supposedly the filter/screen is broken which prevents debris from entering the lake…so in order to reduce branches in the lake they divert all the water and keep the lake low

5 years ago the excuse was bird nest in the trees grown in the diversion channel. The impact of that decision was the Thomas fire ash and retardants silted the lake and lowered the DO levels to serious levels. The  trees and brush was cleared 3 years ago. 10 years back the reason was bird nest on arrow island so the marina on Arrow island couldn’t be used to make a parking area. The old Coyote ramp was renovated using steel grids to use as a ramp when the lake level fell below 34%.

There is a long history since the environmentalist took over the water board funded by Patagonia.

Casitas May never fill above 50% pool as this level prevents any permits for new or remodel home construction in the Casitas water district.
