Loosing touch with good friends.
Two things. 1st I used to be into cars. Older Porsche 911’s to be exact. A small circle of dudes; we got close. Wrenching on each others cars. One guy got into real racing and we worked relentlessly on his car. He got good! 2nd; the group members started having kids. I love all the kids, but this splintered the group. People with kids stick together. It’s a natural thing. I sold my car, and pretty much stopped all weekend shade tree mechanic stuff, further distancing myself. then people moved to get into better school districts. We are scattered. We still talk and when we do get together we immediately fall back into the same comfortable groove. Nobody fishes. we all retire around the same time and we vowed to celebrate together. Strange how life marches on, huh? Cherish friends.

New to fishing looking for any advice
Throw that thing either wacky style or Texas rigged weightless. dont worry so much about the hard baits at the moment. lets put some fish on the board!!
-
I had the highest hopes for this bait. but NOPE!
I am doing some cleaning of gear. I found several packages of a bait I thought..."oh, this is gonna kill them!" but nope. I will still try occasionally, but my confidence in the bait just isn't there. the Jackall Bounty Fish. hahah.. I rig it with some 5/0 EWG hook, and I have ZERO bites. the big benefit of the experience is that I dont jump on any bandwagons anymore. any news on how the Sleeper Craw is doing? I also thought, "oh, that is gonna kill them!"

How are you fishing this?
no doubt. my Hail Mary in the slop like that is a Texas rigged weightless senko. I still pull salad off my rig every other cast, but every once in awhile..I get a bass.

Metro PHX, SRP Canals and City Park Lakes
I got hooked on bass fishing as a teen. night fishing with a mentor on Pena Blanca. I was skunked but he got a good one and the fight and splashed hooked me.

summer wacky worm rod
I accidentally discovered my Dobyns Kaden spinning rod doenst suck as a wacky worm rod. I like a more parabolic bend. but having said that, I dont fish Wacky that much anymore.

Losing fish on dropshots
I agree with @detroit1 those hook are a solution for a problem that doenst exist in my world. if I am in bigger bass waters, I use a 1/0 or 2/0 Owner Downshot hook. rigged weightless.

Why do I suck in Tournaments
I dont fish tournaments. I may one day just to see what that is about. I know my goal would be simple. not come in LAST.

Braid-to-leader on a bait-casting rig?
on my braid b-casters. I only have a few. a punch rod which is 100% braid. and a frog setup, I also pitch and do heavy topwater with. I use a short 2 foot leader simply just to add a bit of stiffness to the end of the line so my trebles and such dont wrap around on the cast and landing.

Sisterhood of the traveling pants.
Haha. My wife loves having friends over for dinner. She wants to start a supper club. (Yikes!). Anyways today was the day. We haven’t done this since Covid. Here’s the deal. My wife can’t cook! I planned the meal, prepped most of it last night and today. KAPLOW! I put it together as the ladies trickled in. I did a southeast Asian meal. Crying Tiger steak w grilled shrimp. Served with sticky rice and a green papaya salad. All of it with lettuce herb wraps. I got them started, them made myself a plate and I Vamanosed into the back room with my dog….and a beer. I can hear them laughing and talking S. All nurses, so I had nothing to contribute story-wise. My job was done! I am ALMOST positive a could order another Megabass rod and not get in trouble right now. Haha. Mission accomplished. I’m trying to hide until the dishes are done. It’s nice seeing my wife have some ladies-time.

Bows- Looking for new one this year
nope. this guy said he doesnt want to pass away with a bunch of money in the bank. hahaha.. the big takeaway while staring at the bow, is the fact that the bolt touches nothing when it is fired. no friction loses. very similar to a drop-away rest on modern compound bows.

Bows- Looking for new one this year
one of my neighbors bought a Ravin. he is maybe 80 years old. he called me to come over. i went over, and saw that beauty. it looked RAD! he had this bag target hanging from his small shed. he was aiming..aiming, wobbling...aiming. i said, "WAIT dont shoot!!" he pulls the trigger. and just wings the bag. the bolt goes entirely thru both walls of his wooden shed and impales into the back fence. i took the thing from him...and i tried it. i didnt miss. i shoot a bow. and let me tell you. i have never seen anything so fast. i actually didnt see it. i pull the trigger and the bolt just appeared in the target. no big glorious rainbow arch glide. he put the thing away and he never speaks of it. it scared him. hahaha.. the Ravin is a system.. perfectly balance and weighted bolts. matched red dot scope with perfectly spaced out dots. all you do is sight in elevation at 20 and all the dots line up out to 100 yards. as long as you use their ($$) matched bolts. i might try to borrow it for a winter wild pig. we have a spot that allows crossbows.

@AlabamaSpothunter thanks. thanks for the reminder. i clipped my T-rig off and rigged up a FreeRig for the weekend. i think conditions are right at Clearlake. semi hard bottom, grass patches galore. let's do this!!

Why do I suck in Tournaments
i dont have the Moxie to do tournements. you got me there, OP. stay the course. i truly believe showing up is 80% of the battle in this case. fun story. i once met an equipment operator. he had the baddest-A Ranger bass boat in his barn. he told me he was a tournement fisherman. i was..."whoa!!". we went fishing and he was awful. i was accidentally out fishing him, with my junk equipment. i ask, "hey, what gives? i thought you were a bass tournement guy" "oh, i didnt say i was a good one" hahahhah.. that dude was BAAAADDD. he was not even good on a trolling motor.

Double Uni knot for braid to fluro?
i dont know what he uses, but i use LOON UV knot sense. it dries into a rubbery flexible smooth coat. i only use it if i am tying something in the luxury of my garage. i walk into the sunlight to UV cure the resin. i need to buy a UV light.
