A first for me

Featured Replies

I'm the passenger currently on the way down to ALF to trade some stuff in a get a new rod, and I called the cops on a driver. I have never done that. I've been close, but it's never happened. This person has no license plates and is swerving so bad. They have almost ditched themselves multiple times, which on the interstate would just mean going head on with people on the other side. No idea if they're drunk, drugged, or texting or whatever, but it's insane. They've almost side swiped multiple people. We're hanging way back. Too nervous to pass this idiot. With no plates I can almost guarantee they don't care about the law at all and are messed up on something.

you did the right thing.  i've done it before.  total miracle that guy didnt kill anyone.

and i just got smashed by a drunk.  people were telling me that saw him swerving the entire time, up until he went under my truck.  i wish someone would have called on him before he wiped out my truck.

WAIT!!!  did you just post on a forum from your car?  :D

As I said, I am the passenger. My fiance does all the driving. I shared this in another thread awhile ago so I don't really care how crazy it's going to sound, but having Schizophrenia and swerving to avoid hitting something that wasn't really there was it for my driving. I told my therapist a long time ago but she said it will stay between us because she doesn't want me to lose my license. Kind of thought that was both nice of her and probably inappropriate of her. For all I care they can take it. I won't be the reason someone dies.

@ironbjorn I’m happy you called. About a week ago I was driving on I-88 around Dixon when I witnessed a fellow semi driver swerving between the 2 lanes d**n near pushing vehicles in the ditch. We had about 15 miles to go to a rest stop and I figured i’d call if he didn’t pull in. After about 5 more miles I witnessed a mid sized suv hit the shoulder and roll over twice, needless to say I called 911 immediately and pulled over to at least meet with the police. The 2 kids who were in the suv for work both made it out with I believe one passenger receiving a concussion, the other seemed fine but looking at what could have been my children as they looked darn close to my daughters age taught me a lesson to not think someone else will call on an erratic driver. BTW the driver of the truck pulled over around 2-3 miles after he hit them and he walked down and waited for the police to arrive. I believe he was falling asleep and didn’t even realize he hit them at first.

And what is terrible is that he probably didn't even realize he was falling asleep. I have come close to that when I used to be on the road for work. The problem is that on a lot of roads there is NO place a large truck can pull over safely, and it can be a long way between exits. and your brain will tell you "I can make it to the next rest stop" when you d**n sure should NOT be driving.

I’ve done it once. I actually watched the guy pull into a bar and the cop follow him right in. The cop called me a while later and said the guy was extremely drunk and probably would’ve killed him self or someone else after he left the bar.

How did the cop know he "probably" would have killed anyone? Thats very speculative.
