Uni to baited uni to uni splicing mono FG knot braid to mono leader

Currently looking at getting a new reel for large crankbaits. Currently considering A Daiwa Tatula Elite in 6:3.1, a Bb1 Pro in 6.2:1, or a Curado 300k in 4:7.1. I like on the handle side of the Tatula Elite you have a Aluminum side plate which adds some rigidity, i like how how the Bb1 pro is known for distance, and I like the line capacity of the 300k. Negatives of each would be the line capacity of the Tatula Elite, braking system of BB1 pro (brake ring needs oil or grease pretty often) and the graphite sideplates of the, and the size of the 300k. i own some of the lews and at first I loved the braking system of the BB1 pro/pro ti but here lately I fee like it has to be oiled all the tome to get good distances. I currently have a Daiwa Luna and discovered im not a fan of round reels. Thoughts..opinions??

I bought a Shimano Bantam A a month or so ago in the 6.2:1. Throwing crankbaits and cranking with the small factory handle was a little uncomfortable so I bought a Gomexus 100mm with bigger. Now when using the Gomexus handle with the Batam I hardly feel the vibration of a DT 10. Im not sure i like this. I can still feel the vibrations a little in the rod but its almost too easy to crank. Often feels like there is nothing there. Anyone experienced this?

I had similar issue. Backlashes were random and bad. I either had to throw on 4 or tighten tension knob. Sold and bought two curado 150 Curao mgls. Couldn’t be happier

I love the new 3.38 medium size.

I want to try has a drop shot. I would want to suspend so I dont know if it does that

I was going to ask the difference in adding eyes to the bait vs using a jighead with eyes. I use the Berkely Fusion and it has eyes as well.

Heavily modified. Levelwind removed, knobby mag added, ceramic bearings, and a balanced spool on a 13-15 ft rod. Not something out of the box you are going to cast 900 ft with.

Some older rods used light coat of rod varnish. 99% of todays rods use 2 part epoxy.

I have this reel seat on a surf rod. It does not hold the reel tight. It wobbles. To stop I have to put electricians tape on both sides of the reel foot.

Yeah i was talking about rolling in the retrieve. The one i bought was not a square with two on the top one long in the middle and 2 on the bottom. It has one on the top 3 in the middle (left center and right) and one on the bottom.

I purchased a few 5 bait rigs and some have two baits on the bottom and some have one. Which one works best as in reducing tumbling/spinning

I was getting ready to say only issue is tree branches and if you go under bridges. I fished yesterday with a 7’11” a rig rod and only issue i had was handle length. When i built the rod i built with a 15 inch handle as a bank Swimbait rod. Im buiding a new one which will have a shorter handle. Probably 13.5

I was able to get out last Saturday but central NC has no Ice, air temp was 65, and surface water temps were pushing 50. Caught one on a red craw Otts Garage crank. A lot of work for one fish lol. Be careful with that ice. That stuff will kill you if you get dumped.

I use a stakeout pole with my anchor trolly and it works perfectly. I use to use scupper holes as well with no damage that i can tell but the pole was in my way a lot. I highly suggest a trolly with anchor and/or stakeout pole

So I paddled a longtime and couldn’t believe how much more time My bait spent in the water once i switched to an Old Town Predator PDL. Those little corrections that you have to make with a paddle can be made with peddling forward or backwards with an occasional touch of the rudder. Im not sure how the peddling would be on the Hobie but I imagine it is very similar
