  1. Incase your MB search doesn't pan out; For me, this rod is the diawa steez ags "the sensor". The xfast, soft solid tip, transitioning to what feels like a mod/fast mid section is way more versatile then I expected. I don't throw senkos anymore, but I do throw shakey heads, split shot, free rigs, finesse jigs, hair jigs, blade baits, tail spinners, nichols mini 33 spinnerbaits and underspins on this. I pair it w/ a jdm zillion spooled w/ pe #1.2 to fc leader. scott
  2. I appreciate everyone's suggestions, some excellent quality options that I both knew and was just introduced to. I forgot to put in the title that I was keen on finding a 2/0-3/0 medium wire hook w/ a vertical line tie. The SC compact flipping is also my favorite, let's call it medium, jig. I think I'm gonna lean toward @waymont with missle jig for the heavier and @Bass Rutten with the Molix Kento for the 1/4oz. Thanks.... scott
  3. That’s insane! I’ve come to enjoy the few jdm unique tapers I’ve encountered. Somewhat similar to how mbr actions can do so many things well. scott
  4. Way to crush them!!! It's not easy in these parts, congrats. scott
  5. I agree with @gimruis. FC/mono leader is a must inmo. Braid gets tangled on the hooks way too often to be efficient and a little give in your system doesn't do anything but help with those small hooks. I usually use 10lb sniper. scott
  6. If you want a 7' rod to do all those things, I think the TB is perfect. Super versatile, it does everything well and some things better than anything else I've ever tried; big spoons, 1oz spinnerbaits, bacca burrito, chad shad. I think you'd love it too. I just brought up the MC, so if you went the 7'11 route, you would know there's a $140 option that's almost as versatile. scott
  7. I don't know the jungle seven, but thats the wheelhouse for the TB and I'm a huge fan. A stouter, slightly less sensitive and cheap version that I pair with the TB is MC Days 702X. scott
  8. That sounds like a trip to the TVA is needed, you can get a 2fer! I have never hooked or even seen a spot in real life. scott
  9. I fish a lot of braid and another trick is pull a little line out after the cast if possible and have it line up with the levelwind, then hold the line taught as I take out the slack. The line guide relation to where it is on the spool when you begin reeling again seems to influence the amount of backlashes over time. It's hard to do on every cast, but the habit every few makes dig go away for me even with 20-30lb line. scott
  10. Almost same exact here; flukes, spooks/frogs, and swim jigs for me! Spinnerbaits slow rolled at night in the summer, and up high and fast in the fall, but I'm sure I'm leaving fish behind by not trying it more often. scott
  11. I'm a fan too, woodford is really tough to beat for me. Basil is good, worth a try. scott
  12. What do you think they're eating...shad, threadfin/gizzard? crappie/bream? crawfish? -1/2oz blade bait (damiki vault is my current fave) -1/2oz football jig w/ beaver trailer -1/4oz dht punisher jig w/ z craw (i like the hair and float for an almost deadstick) - MB oneten jr (+1?) - 3/8oz libero or other small underspin I'd also swim/bottom bounce a 1/2-3/4oz DJ cali swim jig in crappie w/ a 120mm d walker in silverside if I think the bigguns are eating crappie in the brush pile or in that 2-3' range. I also can't seem to put down a 1/3oz little cleo spoon w/ a single hook this winter in the colder water up here for the small shad eaters. Only you can tell if that cover would eat these up or if you can present them properly. scott
  13. My zig or zag is usually just related to size and speed. I throw big or small, erratic or methodical at an area that I believe is holding bass. This usually gives me a clue as to what they want. Funny enough though, your list "senko, popper, spinnerbait, etc" are baits I barely or never throw and have to remember to bust out on days when I'm not connecting. scott
  14. Your favorite sub $50/$35 bourbon/whiskey? I currently lean towards Michter’s American Whiskey and Bulliet Bourbon but I’d win if wrong. scott
  15. Completely non fishing related, but I imagine the changes afoot in the next 10 years with the pulling apart of the global manufacturing base due to political reasons is going to fill up your story cache even more. Fun times. scott
  16. Merry Christmas BR! Thanks for being such a great place to learn. scott On a side note, today is the first time sunlight is reclaiming the day since June! Get your extended night ops in now...
  17. Thanks for the quiver insight, it seems like with the sale and the versatility I'm going to spend some time with it. I just got a long rod version that I'm happy with so far. Maybe it's of interest, maybe not... scott
  18. Back from the dead, but have you ever used the quiver worm as a jig trailer? TW has some on sale and I've been enjoying straight/spade tails on finesse jigs for sm in goby waters. I also like the idea of slowing rof with this tail and hair jigs. I'm also gonna steal your Tokyo rig idea. Thanks, scott
  19. Math has never been my strong suit....
  20. I think you should look into this.... https://www.digitaka.com/items/4/4/2/ALPHAS+SV+TW scott Alphas compared to curado 70's, I love the rigidity and smoothness of the alphas, they're also a very comfortable platform that sits a touch lower to the rod. They seem to be able to throw all weights equally well whereas I sometimes run into trouble with the curado on the lighter side.
  21. I love the Xtasy 755. Everything about it feels like a MH, especially the weight, but it has serious backbone. I also love that a full handle is so balanced, that I can be comfortable with any weight reel on it, 6-8oz. I don't pitch/flip much but this is the rod I like best w/ smaller profile baits. Great big worm, heavy swinghead, and heavy swim jig rod as well. I find it just as sensitive as other higher end production rods, ie conquest, steez, p5, it's just the feel is slightly less sharp. I never feel like I'm missing anything that a rod would compensate for. I haven't ever fished an extreme. scott
  22. When fishing, I certainly like your version of a couple! Nice haul. scott
  23. Softer. My 7'7MH seems like it would be better categorized as a M/M+ scott
  24. I'm looking for a finesse grass/swim jig to use when weeds are thickest. Looking to use a M/RF rod w/ 10lb floro leader. I want to swim 3.5" gambler EZ's, cast/pitch smallie beavers, spunk shads, and small paca chunks, mostly 3/16-3/8oz. I'm interested in these 3 right now, Missile mini swim jig // Z-man midwest finesse // SK bitsy flip; any help getting my TW order total down to a number I can ignore or that fits my gift card? Thanks
