  1. Are you planning to use the beef jerky for fishing? Maybe on a dropshot? Just kiddin', looks like a nice haul of tackle
  2. Tough question....here's my list 1. 5" senko 2. Strike King Rage Menace grub 4" 3. Strike king Rage Swimmer 3.75" 4. Zoom finesse worm 5. Z-Man TRD VERY close honorable mention: Roboworm 4.5"
  3. "The Weatherman" And I'm not entirely sure why. My baseball team back in 10th grade decided I needed a good nickname. So I got one
  4. I don't know if I've ever heard of someone who regularly uses both types who is better at casting with spinning reels than baitcasters. Of course if you have a preference for spinning stuff I could see this being different. Once you become proficient with a bc, its accuracy outdoes spinning gear all the time
  5. Spinning gear is a mainstay for me. If you count walleye and panfish rods I have more spinning than casting. I usually just use my bass spinning setup for relatively few techniques: weightless soft plastics, shakey heads, ned rigs, dropshot and light topwaters. However this type of fishing makes up about 40-50% of my time spent on the water for bass. A good spinning rod and reel is pretty much necessary for a serious fisherman. Also it is my opinion that no one should ever use straight fluoro on spinning reels. I would ditch them too if I did that
  6. I have a decent drive to get to any smallmouth waters, but I fish for them any time I can. I have plans to go and fish the Shenandoah River for a few days, and also to head down to the Ozarks to camp and wade for the brown bass there. Maybe I could get my first Spot there too. This combination should cover me for smallies in 2023. Otherwise I'll be chasing Largemouth
  7. Maverick choppo
  8. I like to fish moderately slow to be more thorough, so I usually fish my lure almost to the boat. I do believe that the anglers who pull the lure out right away might be missing out on some fish.
  9. That rod and reel combo is what immediately popped in my head when I saw the title of this thread.... "I'll pretty much take anything, just not THAT one!"
  10. Not really. I like cork grips and dislike crazy colors. That's about it. I still bought a Lew's tp1x rod even though I wouldn't consider white rods to be my favorite. It felt good in my hand and it's a good price.
  11. Agreed, I have a preference for 6'6" spinning rods. I've used 7 footers and I always go back to the 6'6". My favorite spinning combo is a 6'6" Fenwick eagle with a Daiwa Exceler 2500
  12. I'm with @MN Fisher on the swim jig. I like Outkast tackle's swim jig because of it's cone shaped head. It really slides through standing weeds well. Keep it just off the mucky bottom and you should be good
  13. I don't really get a chance to fish pre-spawn, so usually on opener the bass are on beds. For me that means a weightless senko wacky or texas rigged. Come to think of it, the past 3-4 years I've fished the opener using a wacky rig with a lot of success. Maybe I'll try something else, but why change something that works? If we get a late spawn, I would throw chatterbait, spinnerbait, and jerkbait on the opener. PS I got some SK caffeine shads to try, I have a feeling that they might do a number on shallow spring largemouth rigged weightless. I might experiment with some bigger worms, and I'll have a swim jig tied on because I use those year-round
  14. Scheels has much more fishing gear than Dick's. Like @FryDog62 said I like their prices and conservative values so they will always have my business. The one time I had an issue with a product I ordered (wrong size jighead), they told me to just keep it and they refunded me as well. Very good customer service
  15. I've been very impressed with Dirty Jigs during the time I've used them. Them and Outkast tackle are my favorite jig companies
  16. Senkos at TW are under 6 bucks right now. Maybe because of rebranding and/or spring sale
  17. CM-fisher replied to Mobasser's topic in Fishing Tackle
What town? I'm going to be in Missouri this summer smallie fishing and might stop by to support him
  18. I use 15# powerpro braid to a 8# Seaguar basix fluoro leader on my spinning set up. It is pretty versatile, so I can wacky rig around cover or fish for smallies in a clear stream no problem
  19. I have a good story, not retrieving a lure but retrieving a bass! I was bank fishing a pretty unpopular lake as the only lure that would work was a frog. This lake is an icky algae-ridden mess, but I fish it because I've gotten my 3 best bass out of there. I had a really big bass slurp my frog and when I set the hook, it instantly tangled itself up in a large laydown nearby. I wasn't going to lose this fish, so I waded into that gross water about thigh-deep, lost a sandal, and manually untangled that bass from the tree.
  20. Swim jig or casting jig for sure, followed by TX rigged senko and a zoom finesse worm on a shakey head.
  21. I'd say give the dropshot a try, forget carolina rigs though lol Agreed, I hate fishing frogs. I do pretty well with them but still miss a lot of fish. Very frustrating The only trailer I will ever use on chatterbaits is a paddle tail. Just simple and it works
  22. December-early March: 1x a week Really can't fish late-March to mid April May and early June: Not nearly enough because I'm in highschool and play baseball June-August: about 2x a week September-October: once a week again I hate fishing in November, too cold
  23. Clickbait obviously sucks... I like regional fishing videos, and honest/simple tackle reviews. The Tackle warehouse videos are some of my favorites to watch. Bass resource is great too. For entertainment I like: NDYakAngler, 330 Maniac, Jay Siemens, Jason Mitchell, and @A-Jay Sometimes the best videos are made by no-name channels
  24. Discontinuation of baits can be a very effective tool for the bait monkey!
  25. I've never personally used them, but I've seen on here that Iovino is stopping soft plastic production, so I would snatch some up off TW quick before they're gone
