  1. Keep comin back.
  2. Welcome...we all lose the fish of a life time....usually more than once.
  3. If I cast...and it lands in your boat...your too close.
  4. Woo ha...Young warrior.
  5. A river hybrid will turn your drag system to mush.
  6. Thats when you say, "Hey...you'll spook all the fish throwin' that."
  7. Since it has a "small" population....I would fish where there is some depth and current...and smallies like water on the clear side. I think its more about location than it is about the lure.
  8. Somebody needs to turn that headboard into a rod rack.
  9. For what its worth... Take a look at Brian Latimer's signature series "Sick Stick" made by Favorite. He fishes with an extended fore grip and it may work. The thing is ...its for a spinning reel and the guide set up may not be "perfect" for your under spincast reel. On another note.... You can remove the grip and seat from the back end. Take some pliers and just chew off the cork. You may even be able to twist off the reel seat if it wasnt glued on well. Clean that area of the blank. Then I would build up the handle with ( drywall tape of masking tape) to make it taper towards the back end and assemble the handle from the rear.
  10. All thats from "gettin wide" and fishin "skinny water". Southern Speak gettin wide [git-in wahyd] verb Fishing the wider secondary currents off the main river channel. skinny water [skin-ee waw-ter] noun Water three feet deep or less.
  11. I was replacing the carpet on the trailer and needed to get under the boat for some measurements ...
  12. Gald to hear the good news.
  13. I have a kind of unique way to catch shad. I just motor the boat right up next to the wall (below the dam) and scoop them up in a net. The net I have is a smelt net...its like a landing net...but metal. I just make a back stroke like I was paddling and vola. Its gotta be a quick stroke.
  14. #1: Yes it should work. You may have overheated it? #2: Check for stiffness the next morning (Cue the hilarious comments...). But really...the plastic will firm up some after it cools completly. #3: Dont suck up any air. You just need to have a good bit of plastic for the injector.
  15. Man...those are amazing. Mad airbrushing skills.
  16. A few years back I was on a quest to replace my fleet of Zebco Cardinal 3's and 4's. I bought a bunch of the Quantum Energy reels. Day 1 at the lake...I go to set the hook and the bail flips. I was like WT_. It happens again...then again. The line was never making it over to the line roller. Next day...they all got boxed up and returned. This may have not been a problem if I was manually closing the bail with my hand. I was just in the habit of using the handle to close the bail (this is just how older reels worked).
  17. There may be a little truth to that...recently I been replacing some drag washers in older bait casters with carbon washers...and it made them actually smoother.
  18. To me...it all depends on the presence of grass. I'll throw a frog of rat on grass. I cant say enough about a Spook. It casts like a scud missile and catches like no other bait. All bass hate that thing...snakes will bite it...birds will dive on it.
  19. I have migrated to bait casting more and more through the years. I have about 16 rods and reels 10 are spinning and 6 are baitcasting. I do a lot of light tackle fishing.
  20. I'm not seeing those issues with spinning equipment. Accuracy: Is an angler skill. Distance: Could be several factors, line, rod setup, but not the spinning reel. I know you can upgrade the bearings on a casting reel and get distance. Line twist: This is usually the kind of line. I personally have more issues with line on bait casting reels.
