  1. I was fishing on Tims Ford one fall day. We were catching fish pretty good that day on crank bait. I remember, for some reason, that parrot was a color we used a lot then (and there). Anyway...it was getting about time to go and I had made a long cast and was acting like I had a fish on. "There he is"..etc...etc. Partner gets the net and I kind of started laughing. He throws the net down mumbling. Then...about that time the drag starts buzzing. I was like "No really...there he is...". Partner is not going for it this time. Then a three pound smallie burst out of the water and dives....drag is screaming now. My partner is now holding the net next to me. I get the fish in close to the boat...partner bends down to scoop. When he lifts the fish out of the water...the crank bait is caught on the rim of the net...and the fish is hanging on the outside of the net!!...then it falls back into the water. He throws the net down and says, "Thats what you get."
  2. Totally agree. The same goes for water slide decals...they tend to adhere better on a thin layer of epoxy.
  3. I had a change to fish Weiss for 3 days this fall...those Alabama spots are no joke.
  4. Try using hot soap and water with a green scothbright...it will remove it.
  5. Lots of sage advice above...A good rule of thumb is to slow it all down and take your time.
  6. I would just take a dull knife and scrap off the epoxy...not worrying so much about scratches on the blank. Get it looking uniform with green scotchbrite pad...and then just refinish it with PermaGlos. I will sometime write on a blank with a white Sakura Jelly Roll #8.
  7. I met and talked with Larry Nixon once...I remember he was adamant about using a straight shank hook for a plastic worm.
  8. Take your calipers and measure the outside of the ceramic ring to get the size in mm.
  9. I'm humbled when smallie jumps and gets off...then grateful that he threw the lure back.?
  10. Yup...seriously studying on it now...
  11. Alconite will work for pretty much everything....
  12. Exactly..."I read the news today Oh boy." Lennon got some of the material for A Day in the Life from the UK Daily Mail 17 Jan 1967.
  13. The dead give away are the barbels...which goldfish dont have.
  14. The most a goldfish will ever grow is about 12 inches.
  15. Pretty sure the OP and this are koi and not goldfish.
  16. I was fishin the bridge there at Goose Pond (Guntersville) and the Warden was on the bridge with his binoculars...he was looking at these ash-holes that were on the dock fishing....(they were really on a golf trip). He asked if I thought they had their license's ....which I said, "I know those guys....they explicitly told me they were not gonna buy a license ?
  17. This is what I usually do: I will cut the fingers and thumb out of pair of warm (but comfortable) gloves. Then, if its not warm enough, I will add hand warmers in the glove, on top of the hands. ...I also have a heavy insulated gloves for driving and just not fishing time.
  18. Even without rattles...all the hardware makes noise too. This is one of the reason I started making my own. If I decide to add a rattle...it can be glass in glass...brass in metal...etc
  19. Gnarly...
